Winter season closing - time to get TW to the top of Forum Active list.

Who do you see coming in this season?

The interesting one for me will be Hamish Watson. Not wanted by Team Wellington previously but will almost be obliged to play for them this year now with the FSE ties.

Also I would think the better question is who is going to miss out now that the FSE guys come in? Some of the old regulars will likely be facing the axe.

Fuck this stupid game

Who has stood out in The Central League? Which was for the last part of the season with out the FSE players.

So Team Welly's draw has 3 Nix curtain raisers, 2 games while the nix are away, and 2 games on the same weekend when the nix play at home.  Really not sure how the curtain raisers will go.

It is hard to find an official draw on the NZF website. But have heard even suggestion the curtain raiser games will be televised - YF will stay in pub if this happens to be live and not delayed I would think.

But that just gives you round by round for all teams. When you click TW you do not get a screen that give you all TW games 1 after the other like we can get though CF SP team page.

I haven't heard anything about the games being confirmed at Westpac yet and it hasn't been added to our event calendar. I'm pretty sure I would have heard something about it by now if it had been confirmed. Strange.

Would they just figure it's part of the same event so maybe not think to confirm it with you immediately?  Or maybe the same sort of thing, but from the nix/TW end

Maybe but usually when people want to have curtain raisers it creates a lot of discussion and debate before anything crosses the line. There are good reasons why the stadium don't like to have them and I've not heard it mentioned in a meeting yet. We'll see maybe it's 'soon to be confirmed' or something along those lines.

You'd hope the nix and TW haven't gone and assumed itll all be ok then. It's a shame they don't like curtain raisers, because it's a really good idea for both the nix and TW.

Plenty of reasons for and against curtain raisers.

Getting back to Hamish Watson - is trimmer and fitter looking than I remember from last season or early this.

But expenses come into team make up as well. So it will be interesting to see the team develop.

Just out of interest - why do you think it's a good idea for both?

Potentially gets more people keen on TW.

Probably doesn't affect the nix so much,in fact probably costs them. But I guess it makes it easier for them to watch the squad (through location as well as a syncing of schedule) and developing a closer relationship with TW. Gives a bit more value to members too.

Also good for fans.

I never said they were huge benefits haha

But I also don't see a downside? Not to the nix/TW anyway

Not sure how many people would be keen to stay at the stadium for 5+hours.  Families no.  Boozers no.

Wonder if they are better to line up TW games when the Phoenix are away.  at least people could lock in sunday afternoon for football.

Itll be interesting.

It has a better chance of getting people who otherwise wouldn't be aware of TW games,to go along occasionally, and maybe even go on weeks when they aren't playing as a curtain raiser. Possibly more of a long term benefit.

On the other hand, you could be right. There could end up being less people at the game than there would normally be,as people either won't want to spend so long at the stadium,or won't want to pay a nix price to see a TW game. In that situation it'd benefit the nix,but only slightly.

Couldn't even get five people to see the great Dane Rumble after some hard out promotion

I hope that the TW games finish at least an hour before the Nix games start, and that they allow pass-outs in between. This would mean we could watch the curtain-raiser, go to the pub of choice for the YF, and then back to the stadium in time for the Nix.
