He's had the winter off football - may be in wind down mode.

Mike is probably to settled in Melbourne. But you never know the Nix need a defensive midfielder?

Well Muscat came from VPL didn't he so why not? No footy over the summer for him so maybe a short run in TW would be good.

Will tomorrow be an indication of T W or will they be thrown the curve ball of playing Roarstyle.

i don't see too many defenders named officially yet, so who's going to line up at the back for TW?

Havent they signed Musa, thought he was a centre back. I'm sure they will have the Mar backs already to go. But there are a few from CL teams that would be worth a look if not already attached. What about the ones from CL select team. Bill Robertson probably at HB. Not sure if Schrijvers attached to anyone, seen him play a couple of times this season, once being against the Phoenix, played well.Thought he was in the NZ u20 at beginning of year.Scfaeffers was the other back from Mar.Hes probably in automatically by virtue of club. There was a player on the wing for select team that was very quick, not sure who he was,but looked very handy.

most of the older miramar boys like cheriton, patrick and schaeffers aren't interested in playing for reasons unknown...

imray has just been ignored

yes, they have signed musa and hobbs, but that's it in regards to defenders announced officially

not sure about whalen and duncan

robertson would be a good signing, but he'll be at hawkes bay again this year

Wow there's five quality out and out midfielders there, add [the more versatile] Lindsay and Doyle to that and TW really are stacked in the middle of the park.

Fuck this stupid game

Although Hicks has signed for Phoenix short term? I think we will see Justin Gulley added too. Good squad.

This is shaping up to be a good squad. I look forward to watching TW against ACFC this season.

You're turning into an old tart BM.

Just thinking (without knowing all the players) we might be a bit short up front? No strikers really on that list?

I did hear a little whisper of a Phoenix reject import VPL striker

I don't think he ever appeared for them, no clue if he even traveled over to Aussie.

Name change of thread and a pin. Staying up late to night.  What is the aim of a team to play to win - have fun because you are born in Wgtn. And suffer the Roth of #yfforums. Or find a squad that could go to the CWC.  Both benefit Wgtn, but what gains the least angst from within. #tornado #Steinekin #winners

Dr Vries is a winger/ striker yes? Wow, strong squad. Has TW got some money or people are being sold the line about possible Phoenix contracts?

Having lived in Wellington a while back, I'm interested in how Wellington football people feel about tee(not)dubs & teedubsyoof:
a) they are no longer "our" team as fewer local lads playing
b) full of good players going places, playing good football, in our town; let's get in behind them
c) both of the above
d) whateva

Kotahitanga. We are one.

I'm thinking there really needs to be a home and a pathway for some of these local lads that show promise. There's lot's of good quality players in the region both youth and senior but it appears there's no home for them at TW. We almost need two franchises there, or a TW AND a Nix reserve/development side.

Been saying that for awhile now. Base a team in Lower Hutt, football is strong in the Valley and could accomodate players from the city and even Wairarapa if needed.

Would TW need to win the comp before being given a second team?

I still think the TW-Phoenix progression is a line. I suppose TW players like Watson and Gulley had a good chance but nothing really has come from that yet.

I agree there should be 2 Wellington based teams just like we have 2 Auckland based teams. There are plenty of ASB premiership standard players in Wellington, enough to make 2 squads.

Is De Vries confirmed for TW? Great signing it will be a very strong squad this year!

I actually don't think there are all those players you think there are. I mean, you could probably cobble together a reasonable team out of the players that TW have cast off this year, but they haven't cast them off for other Wellington players...

I think if there were two teams in Wellington you'd create a financial arms race for players, which would be crippling.

Or, you'd have one team full of kids that struggled along, which would be my preference and might be good, but would require someone tolerant to be in charge of it.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.
