Wow!!!!!! If you didn't take an interest in the Phoenix would you know any of the players? Do you require the TW squad to be made up of your personal mates to follow them? Really???!!!

Trolololol.

But...you sort of have a point, which is why I feel like I should go this weekend.

I think the thing is I don't really feel any passion for Team Wellington as a brand/thing. When I had mates playing that bridged the gap. But now, with nobody I really know involved, and TW really just a Miramar project (not knocking Miramar btw) I just am not really connected to it.

I am sorry you dislike the BBQ - see you Sunday in the hamburger Q at Westpac.

After you buy your program.

The BBQ is the best bit about TeeDub this year!

Nightz the reason you gave up going to TW is serial laziness. Same as me.

1pm pretty good for me I think so I'm going to try to get to this one.

Nothing to do with laziness Smithy.
More to do with playing a summer sport and not being able to attend at the time they prefer to play their games now days (as I've stated many times before). 4pm may have been do-able but 1pm counts me out.

I'm actually interested to know what makes you happy. I have a deep seated suspicion you would not be happy winning the lottery.

You learning to comprehend what you are reading would make me happy JV.
Never going to happen I guess.

Well said. For the sake of NZ football go to this game Wellingtonians.

Crikey, it's a bit of an indictment of Wellingtonian apathy when it's a couple of ardent Auckland City supporters urging the capital city's so-called football fans to turn up to watch their national league franchise's biggest home game in a decade. The team is called TEAM WELLINGTON for heaven's sake, it doesn't have to be a perfect day, your mates playing, nothing on TV to watch, the lawns mowed, absolutely nothing else to do before you even think about going. We're only asking a few hundred locals who enjoy watching a game of football to turn up and make a bit of noise for their home city's team. I can't believe it is like pulling teeth!

Who are you to tell us what we should be passionate about. As smithy said, I can't get passionate about what is effectively a Miramar side, no matter what they call themselves.

I will turn up to support if I can manage it before work. But I don't particularly care about the result.

Allegedly

Kind of like how I can't believe you have to post on the website of a team you don't support just to get some visibility for your views. I guess we all have to make compromises.

Difficult to demonstrate cost vs benefit using a flow chart.
Flow chart better suited to illustrating a process or algorithm.

Situation: A Parallel Universe Sarf Lahndon

Baz: "So Dave are you going to the Chelsea game this weekend? You know, first chance to get to the Champions League for years."

Dave: "Nah mate, Rick from round the corner isn't in the team this year"

Baz: "Fair enough, I see they gave his spot to Jose Bambino"

Dave: "Yeah mate and he's not my friend"

Baz: "Right, well let's go to a Barcelona game instead - they're playing a 'home' Bundesliga game in Lichtenstein tonight."

Dave: "Spot on mate - they're my team"

i also have little interest in this team.  to me they are of no more interest than any other asb prem team.  i'll let the marketeers work out why, but to me they are a 'null' identity - i'd be more inclined to watch miramar

So in the city that is four times the size of Wellington, a semi final containing two local teams only drew 484 last week.

Think people just need to realise that the majority of people have other things that they prioritise. just a fact of life.

Bluemagic prioritises ASB football. So I suppose he's an ASB tragic.

Fair enough. So few care apparently about TW now lets drop the franchise and give it to another regional side like HBU which does have a decent following. Maybe Nelson for example. I'm only trying to drum up interest in a big ASBP game but few seem interested in Wellington.

One of the big reasons a lot of people didn't go out to Fred Taylor Paddock is it's an open field in the middle of nowhere. Expect many more at Kiwitea Street this weekend to soak up the great atmosphere.

By the same token, why did those 1500 odd not go to FT that would go to Kiwitea? Its across town.

The unfortunate thing is that as much as your crusade is admirable, people don't care about the ASBP anymore because NZF run it like a mickey mouse pub football Sunday league. A classic example is the KO changes for this weekend. Do they really not have anyone that can see beyond the Sunday at the end of that week?

17 minute drive from Kiwitea St according to google. 17 minute drive from Miramar Park would probably get to the CBD.

i agree
i want this league to be awesome, but despite being the closest it's been in years, interest seems to be as low as ever
and it has everything to do with how poorly it is run

Better get rid of Southern United too. Where should we relocate them to? West coast? Northland?

The main reason why I care about the result this weekend is so that we get a chance to beat ACFC in the final.

I think my hatred of ACFC is stronger than my love for TW. Hmmm.

I think this is something we pretty much all agree on. The competition has not been given much by NZF.

We'd be better than we are now with just a handful of chimps.
