i don't really understand why you ACFC fans (or some of the ACFC fans - you know who you are) judge the quality of the league on how many people come and watch?

Who cares?

Do more people watch NRFL Div 2 than NRFL Premier League reserves?  isn't Premier League Reserves a better quality league?

crowd numbers mean diddly - especially when it's pretty clear gate sales don't form too much of an income stream in the budgets of the teams.

I couldn't care less that Waitakere have 10 fans - if they are better on the pitch then they are better fullstop.

It is good to see a team play well and have lots of fans, but is it the end of the world if they don't?  nope.

Different perspective I suppose. The quality of the football only forms a small part of why I like watching ACFC. I rarely watch football on the TV because I enjoy the atmosphere, fan culture, supporting my City, rivalries, day out etc etc.

Well I'm going to go watch. In fact I'm looking forward to this game more than the Phoenix game on Sunday.

The unfortunate thing is that as much as your crusade is admirable, people don't care about the ASBP anymore because NZF run it like a mickey mouse pub football Sunday league. A classic example is the KO changes for this weekend. Do they really not have anyone that can see beyond the Sunday at the end of that week?[/quote]

Could Dave Farrington Park not be developed into a purpose built 12,000 stadium for the Phoenix or is there not enough room?

Permalink Permalink

Not enough room. Bit like kiwitea street, surrounded by houses but a much smaller ground as well.

Fuck this stupid game

Justin Gulley scored an excellent goal!

Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

It is pretty sweet being able to stand right on the sideline and ask players with really really dumb haircuts what they have on their head though.

great example of putting up a well reasoned response.
We probably had one of the bigger attendance records last season in the NRFL Premier league - it clearly didn't equal good performances on the pitch - not sure exactly what your point is?  if you have one.
You and Buffy are actually quite simular!

not at the levels we are talking about mate - they are nice to have and in ACFC's case it's a good game atmosphere and it probably helps them perform slightly better than playing infront of an open field but it makes zero difference to the quality of the league, the players being developed the football being played.
Take them away as you said and you have got nothing?  i think you will find you have the same product on the field.
If teams were relying on their gate sales to survive (which I am led to understand they don't) then no (or few) fans would be an issue (like the Nix problem at the moment) but at grassroots level (ITM Cup,  ASBP) fans are not really turning out in droves now are they?  so does that mean scrap the ITM Cup - does that make it worthless?  hardly.
