Considering Patrick did it for the price of a coke and sausage from the BBQ, which we forgot to get for him.

The epic game would've also been put on the internet to be immortalised forever.

Stevens and Bevin both played Sunday, so will be there. Margetts now works for NZF in Auckland so won't be there.

Moretti, Villa, Barcia, Zambrano the four worth wondering about. I assume Moretti's gone (didn't play anywhere in winter?). Barcia and Villa maybe surplus to requirements now? Zambrano too, with the wealth of firepower up top?

I'd be surprised if Villa is in town and not included, he was excellent last season.

He only finished his winter season with wharfies last week though so could be having time off before being involved.

Surely the new rule only impacts the OFC teams. 7+1 is generous and that is what the rule is for the ISPS Handa and what everyone else is working with. It is only a slight change as last year it was 8. Plus that's in the matchday squad, can name more in the actual squad. Surely Hawke's Bay, Waitakere or Eastern Suburbs could pick up some of those other "imports" deemed surplus to requirements.

what is the point in signing him if Scott Basalaj is one of the best in the league.

He could be seen by them, but not signed. No import spots left.

Besides, if he were to be under contract at TeeDubs, the Nix couldnt approach him. That would fall under the "Cam Howieson" rule.

not sure that second bit is accurate - pretty sure all the rules are different when it's from Amateur to pro instead of Amateur to amateur

Yeah, the stand down wasn't so much for Howieson 'being approached' it was that he had to end his APA with TW to sign an APA with ACFC, and it kicked in then.

It was also Howieson that approached Auckland City not the other way around

Why would they go for another foreign player? They already have Jackson, Molloy, Bala & Illich - while this is fine for the ISPS prem it won't help with the OCL where they are only allowed 3+1 (which is what they have now)

well there is as you can have 7+1 in your match day squad and you can only have a squad of 23, so you could have up to 15 foreign players (and hope that none of the kiwis get injured or suspended) but that wasn't my point Oceania Champions League has a limit of 3+1 so TW & ACFC need to worry about that, so would be surprised if TW go for many (if any) more foriegners

Yep the match day list is the capped limit and that filters to the squad. It appears a keeper is not stopped from coming in to a squad outside transfer window? (Covering injury/sickness,  a-league/National callup)

Not sure about Jackson, probably depends on how much time he's spent out of the country over the last few years.

Ilich was born in Auckland as far as I know.
