Bummer. Real shame they couldn't hold on. 

Think they will be disapointed about all three goals they conceeded. Particualy the first and third when we had a chance to clear into a less dangerous position.

Super proud of them though.

So proud - what an amazing performance by TW, a real shame they couldn't hang on, but that's the difference between a fully professional team and a semi-pro one.

Would have been great to see them advance to the next stage and have another chance to showcase their football, but sadly it wasn't to be.

I hope they can take this performance into the Handy and certainly in the OCL as this year they seem a little less hungry.

Oh that's so gutting.  The ASBP is really producing some good teams and players right now

Superb performance, very proud of the lads. Just required one extra bit of luck that you need to get a result in these types of games.

Bevin thanks to his US college degree has a pretty solid career outside football and I suspect would be up for a decent sized pay drop to join the Phoenix so I reckon that's unlikely.

Lads did themselves proud. Real shame they turned over 3 soft goals, but by all means they proved they were good enough to compete at that level.

JHS, Bevin and Schrijvers were standouts for me in that game (Clapham good but failed many touches and looked uncomfortable before finally settling in). First two I'd take in a heartbeat, Schrijvers I'm not sure how good he's been in the league but he's only pretty young so could improve

Yeah, it's hard facts but ultimately we did lose focus big time (can't blame them, an amateur side winning 3-0 against champions of one of the biggest money leagues in the world would be expected to be complacent) and that goal before half time was a death sentence. Did very well to keep them out for the most part for two 30-minute spells before and after Berg's goal.

Berg reputedly on US $4mill. And that Brazilian looked like he could have played through the whole TW team for fun.

I wouldn't expect any player to be complacent when playing what is for many the biggest match of their life.

Never known Claps to be like that over the 15 or so years I have been watching him play and covering the game down here in ChCh.

These guys weren't expected to be ahead at all let alone being 3-0 up though, and with it being against such a good team I wouldn't be surprised if they let down their guard a bit. Doesn't matter though they made us proud!

TW were not complacent, I think Al Ain were expecting to win and finally woke up to play at their level. Still proud of TW

A lot of these Team Wellington players either are or soon will be of international standard

Al Ain thrashed the African champs 3-0 today in club World Cup...that so easily could have been Team Wellington in the semis now

Damn, that makes the choke even more heartbreaking.
