Ok, so halfway through, just have seasons from 2011/12 to present to go - here's a leaderboard - most booked players in the ASB Prem from 2007-2010:

Cole Peverley 12 yellows, 2 reds

Andy Pitman 12 yellows, 1 red

Chad Coombes 10 yellows, 3 reds

Ian Hogg 10 yellows 2 reds

Wiremu Patrick 10 yellows

Paul Seaman 10 yellows

Adam Cowan 9 yellows, 1 red

Johnathon Taylor 9 yellows, 1 red

Adam McGeorge 9 yellows

Jake Butler 8 yellows

This is interesting.  I know I am only repeating some of what others have said but it would be more interesting to me if:

(1) You gave 1pt for each yellow and 2 pts for a STRAIGHT red (some of us are a bit confused with your current ranking system)

(2) The pts were aggregated over MINUTES played (tough ask I know).

(3) You did a similar calc for the teams.

In any case based on what you have it's Peverley that looks the most filthy.  He hasn't played as much as the other guys near the top.

Good job N-bomb. You're the bomb.

This discussion is as meaningless as most the dribble that's been posted on these forums of late.

Chad Coombes most reds. Not a shock.

Three for me, and two for them.

Where does nightz sit in the forum ill-discipline rankings? Must be right up there with whoooooo, nufcnz and AJ13

I'm planning to convert it into points at the end so will take that suggestion, minutes played is near-impossible, and since this is just meant to be fairly basic I'll keep it as such. I could do the dirtiest teams at some points later on for sure if people wanted it.

Are you using transfermarket.com?
It's a hell of a job you are talking on but the info seems to be there.  For example Peverley:
13/14: mins = 854; 5 yellows (5pts)
12/13: mins = 1221; 6 yellows and 1 straight red (8pts)
11/12: mins = 613; 1 straight red (2pts)
10/11: mins = 612; 4 yellows (4pts)
09/10: mins = 1052; 5 yellows (5pts)
08/09: mins = 1039; 5 yellows (5pts)
07/08: mins = 1176; 4 yellows (4pts)
06/07: mins = 353; 3 yellows (3pts)
This equates to 1pt every 192mins

Nah I have the official ASBP records which seem to be far more reliable, but in terms of the minutes played then transfermarket might be a much easier source to get those.

Surprisingly not that many keepers have been sent in the ASBP, I've got Gillespie on top though

7 yellows and a straight red, I think his prime didn't quite overlap with the data otherwise he'd have been higher up there

Mark Jones waikato must be up there..at least 1 red every year and quite a few yellows....Oh wait is that northern league..?

Mark nearly cracked the list despite only really playing for 1.5/2 seasons, if he keeps this up he'll be a stalwart of this discussion for years to come.

Next time I get a break I'll look into it, an educated guess would have Manawatu first, followed by Waitak/Auckland/Canterbury in some order, but I could be wrong.
Also, going through some of the names, I might also have to start a "Most Obscure ASB Prem players" thread, there are some real no-names amongst!

Excellent work, Mr Bomb.

I was taken by the fact that former Waikato product Matt Kennedy made No 16 in the list (playing for Manawatu) when i suspect his actual game time would have been significantly less than everybody else on the list.

Interesting nobody who played for Waikato made the top 20.

The least surprising players got carded today - McGeorge, Varela (that red was coming for a while) and our friend Chad.

You know I actually do wonder if he does. I do wonder if he walks off the pitch and goes 'Why do I always get picked on?' because if he was smart enough to figure out that the problems were all of his own making, he would also be smart enough to make the change to stop the crap.

I'm not clear about which period you are considering. From which year onwards?
I take it you mean "ASB Premiership and NZ Football Championship." Remember the national league was "NZ Football Championship" from the 2004 - 2005 season until they changed the name to "ASB Premiership" for the 2010 - 2011 season. The national league was club based before the 2004 - 2005 season. A winter national comp existed 2000 - 2003 (four seasons) known as the "National Club Championship."

That's not many reds to players over the three seasons you have stats for above. If you widen it to include the NZ Football Championship from 2004 - 2005 season or all national league games from say 2000, I reckon Ben Sigmund would be the clear winner. That boy would pick up two or three red cards per season. Greg Uhlmann of Central United was also one of the most-carded.

As pointed out, 2007-2010. And look at the later posts to actually see final figures. Also, it's impossible to get any accurate stats from 2000-2005, so what you suggest isn't able to be counted.

No way just the strikers.
I think some just jumped higher back then when a 6 ft 5 inch 95 kg defender named Ken came clattering at you with a 10 yard sliding tackle aimed at the shins, I know I did.
