you may remember the only banner that was up "can we get a ride to the final" at the semi final against auckland
and all of the chanting guys behind it!
this year we'll be back as the green army, and we're hoping to have a few more than 5 people or so with us too. So anyones welcome to join us.
p.s did anyone here go on the team bus up to hawkes bay last year where we won 4-3? bloody brilliant day

Did anyone here see Waitakere's 6-0 thrashing of Manawatu in Taupo?
Could they post some details if they did.

bit gutted about that result but it means bugger all [i hope]
Richard Gray???that rings a bell but cant place him???
YOUNGHEART WILL WIN THE LEAGUE -THIS YEAR ITS OURS

The media quotes Shane Rufer as saying Manawatu was hammered and needs 8 new players if it is to compete in the league. How does that square with the views held here?
the only thing hes really worried about is goalie as he cant seem
to het hold of a decent one...
otherwise all his signings are turning up soon:)

he talks about getting Osea Vakatalesau and Peni Finau from Fiji,
two uruguayans and a ghanaian. (5 in total)

But is it not correct that he can only play three "guest"
(non-residential, requiring an international transfer) players at
once?
(a) Any player who is not a New Zealand
citizen or who does not hold a permanent
resident permit, and requires an International
Clearance to play in New Zealand, is
to be regarded as a Guest Player.
(b) No team may have more than three (3) Guest
Players recorded on a team card in
the same match.
(c) A Guest Player may, after having resided
continuously in New Zealand for a
period of not less than twelve months, be
re-classified provided they apply in
writing to NZF via their local District
Federation.
(d) District Federations shall keep a register of
Guest Players and note any changes of
status.
(e) In the event of a Guest Player transferring to a
club in a different Federation, then
the Federation giving the clearance shall advise the
new Federation of the Guest
Players
status.
(f) In the event of a dispute concerning a
players classification,
the local Federation
shall request the player to forthwith produce such
evidence as is necessary for that
Federation to determine the matter.
(a) This clause 13 of this Regulation 5 shall apply
notwithstanding anything to the
contrary in this Regulation 5 and shall be read in
conjunction with Regulation 10
of these Regulations
(NZFC Regulations).
(b) The New Zealand Football
Championship
(NZFC)
is an annual competition
played during and around the summer months, and
established by NZF. NZF
issues licences to franchise clubs
(franchise
clubs or, as the
context requires,
franchise
club) to participate in
the NZFC.
(c) Each NZFC season, each franchise club shall name
and contract (in accordance
with clause 8.10 of the NZFC Regulations) a squad consisting of a maximum
of
twenty three (23) players
(Franchise Club
Players or, as the
context requires,
Franchise
Club Player).
(d) With the exception of Guest Players (as referred
to under clause 8.12 of the NZFC
Regulations) and Marquee
Players (as referred to under clause 8.13 of the NZFC
Regulations), who are
dealt with under clause 13(i) of this Regulation 5, prior to
being named as Franchise Club Players, all players
must be registered with a
winter club duly affiliated to a District Federation
(Club of
Registration).
(e) Once named as a Franchise Club Player, a
players registration
shall be transferred
to or as directed by NZF for the duration of the NZFC
Amateur Player Agreement
(NZFCAPA)
the player must then enter into with the relevant franchise
club.

i think the ghanian is some waitak bloke whos been playing for long
enough to not be an overseas player. That made little sense I
know... but I think we're sweet.
sure it was a hammering, but we were without vakatalesau, finau, maemae, sale, gustavo, or any of those ones mentioned above. not to mention the lack of keeper. hopefully Pamment will sign. thats 8-10 first choice players who didnt play (as far as I know).
surely you cant say that this performance will reflect anything that were going to see from YHM this season?
theyve proved many of us wrong by being in the top 3 or 4 in the league and theyll keep that up or improve on it this year.

Not to mention that over the last 2 seasons, if that blimmin goal v
auckland (which WAS over the line) in 2005 had counted, and that
court case thing had been resolved properly last year, we would
have won the league over the past two years.
YHM have lost only the devil (Totori) and Imray this year and anyone thinking they'll be near the bottom is dreaming. YHM to win.

Prince Quansah, he's played age group for NZ so he's only barely
Ghanaian... he's also, um how shall I put this...ahhh... not that
good.
VERY fast, but that is about it.

where does he play? it sounded like he played well against hawkes
bay, but as we let in 3 goals, anyone who wasnt Rowe or Cowan has
something to answer for.

I have an acquaintance who coached/coaches at a reasonable level in
Auckland who used to play a game when he watched Prince play.
You had to drink when one of his blistering runs ended in a
successful cross or pass. Reckons you got one drink a
match.
I recall seeing him when he was 12 at an aged group tournament.
Could run past all the players because he was that good.
unfortunately he didn't get better and then met Fallon and that was
the end. Fallon taught him more about the dirty cheating tactics
than actually playing the game and its very obvious now when he on
the park.

Prince stood out as a youth not because of any superior ability, in my opinion, but because of his advanced physical development. As a teenager, when other kids were going through that coltish phase, he was built like Precious Mckenzie. it was almost as if, er, somebody had got the date wrong on his birth certificate. Incidentally, Ghana has a proud record at youth level. But not once players mature.
In Prince's case, other lads eventually caught up physically,
and in many cases surpassed him in the pecking order. People
forever talk about Prince's 'pace' in the same way that it is often
the only thing people can think to say about Noah Hickey's game.
But at national league level i never noticed Prince as having more
toe than most other flank players. Still, it would be great for the
lad if he can make a comeback at Manawatu.

well put bruce, i remember watching prince play years ago when he
was at college playing in the mens grade in auckland and he was a
good player no doubt, but i think he has gone down hill a lot
and is pretty average these days. i hope he has a good year

does youngheart play wellington tomorrow?
if so, does anyone know where it is being played?

Really liked the look of Finau in the Fiji V NZ match. He
looked strong fast and skillfull. Could be one of the best
defenders in the league this year.
Had a look on the Central soccer webste at the Manawatu
transfers. The have signed a player from Cerro in Urugury
(2nd division) and a player from King Fiaiaal in Ghana (top league)
Not bad leagues to be getting their even fringe players from. Look
foward to seeing them play.

yeah yhm play wellington at FMG tonight. havent seen Finau or
Vakatalesau yet, hoping to catch some of the Fiji game but
apparently they both looked good. We picked up 2 new uruguayans,
Pablo Yackson and Gonzalo Nieres. And resigned Gustavo. Yackson
played uder 20s for Uruguay. Sounds really good

The TAB odds must be out soon??? Wonder what the TAB thinks?

hmm I reckon Auckland would have the best odds as per usual,
wouldnt they?

You would have to say the TAb will do that, I would put waitakere
on shorter Odds tho. With Totori and all.
