The Squadron have adopted 'Never Tear Us Apart' as a song they sing during the games. Has it even been suggested that we sing 'Ring Of Fire' during the game? The words & tune are simple and it could be something the rest of the crowd could join in with. Maybe even pick a time to always sing it.

By the time I get to see the Phoenix they'll be rising
They'll find the banner I left hangin' on the wall
They'll laugh when they read the part that says I'm heavin'
'Cause I've supported that team so many times before

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Maybe a good one to belt out, to the tune of "Do you hear the people sing"

Do you hear the Fever sing?
Singing a song of Merrick's men,
It is the music of a people
Who will not be last again!
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drum
There is a game about to start
When the Phoenix come!

Brilliant, however, I think if we inject logic into it, most Phoenix fans would not walk 500 miles to support the team, as this would be roughly the equivalent of walking from Whangarei to the cake tin, or vice versa, let alone walk the purported 'thousand miles' to see the team score.
We all know how much angst appears anytime the Nix talk about taking a game on the road. A lot of them wouldn't walk 269 miles (Christchurch), 195 miles (Napier) or even a paltry 87 miles (Palmerston North) "..To watch Paul Ifill (Hernandez/Cunningham/Huseygems/our Brockie) score..".
Even those travelling (not walking though i'm sure) 394 miles to watch them in Auckland still would have fell short.
However, those who travelled to Dunedin to watch the match would have come close to the 500 miles by travelling 488 miles. And while that's still well short of the thousand, it's a bloody good effort towards the 500 miles.
But if you remove logic from the equation, I think it's brilliant, and should be on the song sheet.

So your saying to save it for away games then? There will be a few flying a thousand miles for games.

A retrospective song for last season.  Hopefully not the next.

TOWIP

We've been broken down
To the lowest turn
Being on the bottom line
Sure ain't no fun
But if we should be evicted from Wellington
We'll just move somewere else
And still carry on
Hold on, Hold on, Hold on

The only way is up, Phoenix
For you and me now
The only way is up, Phoenix
For you and me now

Now we may not know
Where our next win is coming from
But with you by my side
I'll face what is to come
Nix, I wanna thank you
For angsting me this way
Things may be a little hard now
But we'll find a brighter day
Hold on, Hold on, Hold on

The only way is up, Phoenix
For you and me now
The only way is up, Phoenix
For you and me now

Talk about The Only Way Is Up
Talk about The Only Way Is Phoenix

The only way is up, Phoenix
For you and me now
The only way is up, Phoenix
For you and me now

x2

The Only Way Is Phoenix

Chants to the tune of Quiet Riot's Come on feel the Noise seem to be all the rage in England at the moment. A simple tune and simple lyrics.
We could use something like:

Come on feel the noise, we're the Fever boys
We go wild, wild, wild
Wild, wild, wild

and then repeat.
