That the tune that RBB sing right?
And the hits just keep on coming
If allez is french for go, could we replace it for the Maori word to give it more meaning here?

You might be right about the RBB using it tho

Hmmm, three syllables... needs work.
Perhaps. Conext matters in maori so not sure the translation is that easy. Will chat to a few people to see what an appropriate word is. Might be something like 'lets go' or 'lets win'.

Um..
"Ka Haere, Haere Tatou!" would work ..
meaning .. "Lets Go!"(all of Us)
ohhh I like that.
So good for the Phoenix tonight?
I prefer "So cool for the Phoenix tonight" as more of a link to cold in the desert tonight, and Albert is cool... but I am not going to die in a ditch over it.
A small portion of people would actually know the original song
Can we add the bridge too - which will link it to Riera Riera, Riera Riera...
Yes you know we'll be chanting for you
If you want me if you want me
Yes you know we'll be chanting for you
If you want me if you want me too
Riera Riera, Riera Riera, Riera Riera
The Only
I also endorse the "So cool for the Phoenix tonight" upgrade.
One small edit in bold above the the second If you want me line...
And in case any of the young crowd are wondering what the hell we're talking about:

It's to not too
Try this for the tune (maybe slower to start with):
Cheers Liberty, I think I get it now. If we we can't get something to work in Te Reo, then I think Ryan's idea of using Welly should be the next cab off the rank.
Good to see you're being constructive as usual Feverish.

Sweet, I like the tune and easy to keep chanting.
So we are looking at something like
Ka Haere, Haere Tatou (English "Lets Go!"(all of Us))
Ka Haere, Haere Tatou
We're Phoenix FC
Ernie's Yellow army...
If we can get that going, I think it will be a seminal moment in New Zealand sports history.
(I fully expect Junior 82 or Coops to comment on that)
The only real problem is a lot of people wont know how to pronounce it, let alone sing it in the tune required. I think it will fall flat to be honest. Most of the players wont understand it and neither would any listening audience...if they could hear it. We can give it a go but i am not dure it will catch on.

True.
However I said "a seminal moment" NOT "the seminal moment"...

You know what Plumley-Walkers last words were as he went over the Huka Falls?
"How much is this going to coooooooooossssssssssst?"
On reflection, as much as I'd like us to get some Maori in there, it's probably going to be very difficult.
Welly, Welly, Welly oh
Welly, Welly, Welly oh
We're Phoenix FC
Ernie's Yellow Army...
Simple. Should catch on easily. Well, you'd hope.
Remembering some had difficulty in chanting "Yellow Army" ;) but yes i think you are quite right.
Good point on the pronunciation Gunman, probably better to cut our losses and go with Welly.
Its a good idea but needs lots of practice before we unleashed such a song as it would sound weird and some might laugh.

Just wondering if it should be:
"We're the Phoenix FC" to add an extra syllable? The original is 'We're Ev-er-ton FC'.
Sounds a bit more correct in my mind (in saying that I'm a toffee so I've had that chant going around my head for the past year).
If we can get that going, I think it will be a seminal moment in New Zealand sports history.

I am not trying to over complicate this, but the full lyrics do seem to fit Wellington quite well... see italics below... maybe we should these bits in?

Too hard imho.
Yeah, I think it might be a bit too complicated at this stage. Perhaps though if we find the 'basic' version takes off then we could look at adding onto it . There may be a few like me who aren't overly familiar with the tune so it might take a bit of time to bed in.
Just keep it to how i did it, short and sweet.
Much better... that came together well.

BWTCF corrected that bit in bold. He's right.
Let's give this a nudge Sunday.

Absolutely... so imagine there is "[Repeat]" after the last "The Only!"
Good to see you're being constructive as usual Feverish.
Pointing out that a small portion of people would actually know the original therefore quabbling over the odd word won't be major. It's one of the first songs I actually remember - so unless you are a 40+ kiwi you probably wont
First time (chant) poster. Apologies if it's been done to death, or before,or too close to a CCM chant; but how about this:
THE BEATLES. WE ALL LIVE IN A YELLOW SUBMARINE
We all live in a Yellow Stripey tee, Yellow Stripey tee, Yellow Stripey tee. We all live in a Yellow Stripey tee, Yellow Stripey tee, Yellow Stripey tee.
And we live a life of ease. Everyone of us has all we need. Sky of blue. And see of green. In our Yellow Stripey tee.
We all live in a Yellow Stripey tee, Yellow Stripey tee, Yellow Stripey tee. We all live in a Yellow Stripey tee, Yellow Stripey tee, Yellow Stripey tee.
Great effort! It has potential, I think... be interesting to see what others think.
To the tune of She's a Mod
He's Glen Moss, he's Glen Moss, he's Glen Moss yeah yeah yeah yeah
He's Glen Moss, he's Glen Moss, yeah yeah
He's Glen Moss, he's Glen Moss...
He's wearing blue/green/pink today
It's a winner Phil. Well done.
Might have to brief Mossy that he's only allowed single syllable coloured jerseys from now on. Purple and Crimson are just not acceptable for this chant.

Using his first name prolongs where the 'a' is short.

I quite like that Global Game. Not heard the CCM chant so can't comment on its closeness.
Ok this thread is a mash of various ideas. I'm gonna close it now. Any ideas in here can be pulled out into seperate threads.
