Crowd noise/chanting

Great effort really, defied our small overall size with some really loud chanting and keeping it up through the whole game too. Big improvement on last week. Rain weeded out the pussies and the half-assed supporters (except for a group of people round my age, 15 or so who sat down for most of the second half and didn't chant right in the middle of the fever zone, bloody shocker!)

Special mention goes to the guys at the left end of my row who started chants nearly constantly the whole match!

Problem is when you're team is performing poorly its hard to keep up that noise level. Imagine if we'd pulled back 2 goals...

Sounded bloody brill on the tele. Couldn't believe there were only 6k there tonight from the noise. Better than Sydney and Qld with twice that number.

Top effort

It seemed bloody quiet in the zone compared to last week though. (Though we were surrounded by people banging those sticks, killing any chance of singing.)

Top effort from the Zone.

Noise level was excellent with whole group chanting in sync.

No question the Zone was man of the match.
He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

agree with you.

at one stage it was deadly quiet....I got an "oh wellington" chant going and there were 3 young guys next to us who I haven't seen before but one of them was brilliant always getting some kind of chant going...

Good sound (was in Aisle 13?), seemed to flow better than last week. Watched highlights(cough) sounded awesome on the telly.

Had a talk with a guy in the bb after who talked about the chanting and how it was a bit miss-matched at times.

I can hardly talk which I always take as a good sign.

This guy thinks we should synchronize our chanting more and we need to practice - I agree somewhat. But I don't know how we will do this. Mind you we could have  a YF academy,  a bit like "fame" that show in the 80's I'll be Leeroy... no hang on  I'll be Bruno, as all the ladies all ways seemed to fancy him.

Lonegunamen-where did he go?

If a terrorist organization has kidnapped our high profile member of the YF then I want to be part of the team that negotiates his release.

Thought the chants took off well around the stadium once they'd started. Always like "stand up for the phoenix" and I'm sure all 6,000 + of us stood up

Which version? The one where we sing it properly? Or the one that gets done most of the time, including yesterday, where the same "tune" is used for every line of the chant?

Give "who are ya" a rest I reckon.

At least until you've beaten someone. Kind of sounds a bit silly giving cheek to a team that's just beaten you.

IMO.

I thought we were way more in tune than last week - also the chants that were started flowed well with ailse 22 and vice versa.

On the irratating side, we had a young person behind us screaming "give to Tony" SCREAM "I love you Tony" SCREAM all second half - really started to get on my goat - come on, a couple of times is okay but for 45 minutes - OTT

Hahaha had them behind us last week. My ears hurt after that...reminded me of the beckham game

Yeah noticed a improvment from last week, noise wise. But dying out for 15 minutes after we concede does suck.

I know, its hard to chant when your team falls behind, but thats when weve got to be behind the team even more.

Just a outsiders POV. Be Gentle.

yeah there was a period there were I was too bummed out to do bugger all. You've just got to hold out hope that teams do come back from two goals down- but they're less likely to do it without the crowd behind them

No bagging, a big QFT from me.

I think the solution is for me to be more pissed, at least then I sing to myself for the whole 90 minutes and occasionally people join in.

How's my driving? - Whine here

Who started the "Singing in the rain" tune? that was class considering the conditions. Added a touch of humour during a disappointing day. Maybe we need to brush up on other show tunes for something different. Such as when certain match officials come out, we could sing "Send in the clowns"??
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

There was one point in the second half where everyone on the eastern side were all standing up and making a hell of a noise (including the damn sticks). It looked awesome, and sounded great on radio too.

I def agree, it sounded like more than 6600 there

If you aim right, you can take out both with one shot.... and the use of the word "kid" is very loose as it was adults around us behaving more like little kids with the sticks.

or to be 5 or 6 times more creative , just join in with the 5 or 6 witty chants that do get started (usually be 3 or 4 different people) each game,
