Republican leaning teams). Alot of football fans out there would
never want to sing this song due to it's politicla associations. I
think It's best if we respect those clubs and let them keept heir
song. Surely over time we will develop our own traditions.

It's melodic and slow, so it would sound really "majestic" for want
of a better word.
As a fans song to announce who we are: "You give me fever"
gets my vote.
I say we should therefore learn both.
1. "Dont dream it's over" - for the players
2. "You give me fever" - for the fans.

Not sure if Ring of Fire is melodic enough, is probably going to
sound more like a chant, when sung by us lot with crap voices than
a song. That's why "Don't dream it's over" get's my vote - melody.
Plus it's Kiwi written, but the Aussies will try to claim it. More
reasons to shove it up thiers.
Actually on second thought - "Ring of Fire" is good if we sing
it slowly, then the melody works really well. If we sing it too
fast it will just become a chant. Our song leader is going to have
to make sure it doesn't start off too fast.

The songs that are sung by teams are only cool because they have the numbers. Even the crap songs the AFL teams have become so much better because everyone knows them...the best chant is only going to be any good if we have the numbers there...Ring of Fire definately gets my vote over Don't Dream its Over, so much easier. Key element is rowdiness!!! and drunken revelry..
