I've got Summer Soccer on tonight so I can run it past whoever shows up if ya need.

Wellington doesn't look so flash, but now that the details are confirmed I can try to convince a few more to come along.

 A message from our Ref (Chris):

Saw a post in the forum about rules so thought I would give you my thoughts (some of light hearted naturally). It can be added to/altered but I thought at least a good place to start. You can feel free to mention my name as well as refereeing it and post what you like from this.

1: Anyone that wellies the ball over a fence or out of the ground has to go get it themselves. You cannot pay someone to get it for you.

2: Subs can be rolling but made only at corners, goal kicks, throw ins. Just on and off as you will.

3: No offsides higher than the 18y line instead of half way. Just opens the play up a bit more. It also means there are no reliance on linesman (cause that is never a fun job). I will be able to get around the pitch fine and cover balls in and out of play anyway.

4: A bit of ‘honesty rules’ never hurt anyone.

5: 1 rule for all genders.

6: I’m gonna protect everyone the best I can in terms of fouls and cards will be shown if you earn them (or not perhaps). If you knock someone down, pick them up. If you accidentally injure or hurt someone, nothing wrong with helping the person out/up. It’s a bit of fun and we all want to enjoy the rest of the day as one team of ‘Phoenix supporters’ and make it to work Monday. With that in mind, anyone that gets agro can take a 5 minute breather. Non-negotiable. Anyone deliberately hurting someone else – instant shower pass. Non-negotiable.

7: Streakers must do a mandatory cartwheel through middle of the pitch.

8: Anyone that fancies themselves as a 'managerial' type person must name that manager they are impersonating and also use the appropriate accent (i.e. If you think you are Ferguson, then you speak with a Scottish accent for the game)

9: In the event of a draw which will go to penalties, each playing member (to an equal amount both sides) must take a kick.

10: Your teams final score is decided as Goals scored - (2* red card total) - (yellow card total). i.e. 5 goals scored, 1 red and 2 yellows leave you a score of 1.

11: If you are on the losing side, you have to shout a member from the other side a beer at some point during the day. The winning 'region' have the right to rub it in until the next match.

12: Any person that has a problem with referees decision are invited to take the whistle and do better. Referee will take a bit of stick from players, be prepared to receive it back. Being a Taranaki raised lad, there will be no correspondence entered into regarding ‘hometown bias’. Also any bribery and corruption of the referee is welcome. Currency is Corona, pies and bourbon in that order.

13: Respect the rules of the ground and leave it as we find it. The name of Yellow Fever and Wellington Phoenix that can be tarnished by our actions. If there are kids within earshot, language should be mindful.

Sounds good! I'm not so sure about rule 10, personally I would prefer it if we just leave it at the team the scores the most goals wins. What does everyone else thing about it?

Yeah rule 10 is a bit odd.

I would have though that conceding a goal would be a much bigger blow than getting a player yellow carded, in that system they have the same effect. 

What would the motivation for having that? The only thing I can think of is to stop it getting dirty? Stop professional fouls? I know I suffered from white line fever when I was playing (guilty)

I think the instant shower pass rule is sufficient enough to stop it getting dirty, as well as the standard two yellows = red. Hopefully everyone can keep in the spirit of the day and remember everyone is there to have fun.

Well when you consider that, it does look rather silly that rule 10.
