Welly Fever vs Auckland Fever, Saturday 10am, Bill McKinlay Park

Hoping this is where to post this.

Just wondering if all you guys and girls from Wellington and Auckland wanted to have an Auckland vs Wellington football game a bit earlier in the day? :P

Talked about this a little with Dale when he was up here for the All Whites game in case there was that "1 game a season" game in Auckland. Thought this would be some great fun, and gives us all something to do while socialising :)

Would need a list of all the people on here from Auckland that would be keen.

I'm keen but at this stage I will be overseas for work and my flights to auckland will go unused.  Suggest we pick this up again in the new year.

Sounds like fun.

Already looking at a location nearby... Nixon Park. It would even be within walking distance of the stadium... but I would suggest playing early enough to go have a shower afterwards :P

I've spotted a flaw.  That schedule has no pub involved.  Kind of key.  I reckon a 10 or 11 game somewhere like Vic Park so we can be at Foxes by 12-1.

That could work... but not sure if Vic park has Football goals any more. I should be able to talk to my club to secure nets for the day.

May be possible to talk to one of the Football clubs nearby into allowing a field to use :)

This would be cool, Auckland YF v Wellington YF

I'd be keen and could wrangle a few from my social Sunday team

I would be keen..... the surgeon who replaced both my knees in September would be less keen though!!

Happy to participate in a Managerial role (read standing on the sideline drinking piss and yelling useful bits of information at people who are really good players in their own minds)

I've been there and done that after an operation on my right leg... abscess. Was actually quite fun as you could actively tell people where to go and read the play from a different angle. Drinking piss the whole time :D

Best part was while I was running the line our team beat top of the table 2 - 1. Got accused of having too much to drink by one of the opposition (none of his team mates saw it his way) when an offside was given against them and I didn't even put my flag up as he looked on to me! The ref called it :P

Maybe we could have this posted to the "Events" page too? :)

OK can we start getting names in and which side you will be playing for? Not sure if there is a private message option on here. If not you can email me tyson@webdrive.co.nz.

Let's make this a match to remember! :D

Well finally kicked off with michaelme likely being able to get a few along.

I also tried the crazy thing of seeing if we could get the game hosted in the stadium... even as curtain raiser :P Naturally they came back with a no... so asked if we could get some support... have some of the guys show up and maybe we could do some fundraising for charity :) Waiting to hear back again.

Auck or Well?

If Auck I'm keen to have at least half a match in goal... not 16 any more :P

Could be in with a few mates. Naturally I live in Auckland. But don't really like the place, What does that make me eligble for?

Hey I've just decided to go to the game. When are the majority of people flying up/back? What's the haps (generally speaking)?

Also, very keen to play in the game, too. count me in

Sweet... can you talk to the guys/girls down there? Haven't had a lot of confirmed response.

Please email any confirmed names to my email tyson@webdrive.co.nz

Transplanted Wellingtonian living in Auckland, so will play for either side. I'm familiar with Nixon Park, it's not a bad park although not great grass cover if I remember right.

Well in that case I can't do that either. COACH for me haha

OK those that are interested let me know by email (tyson@webdrive.co.nz) if you haven't already.

Can someone from Wellington please talk to the guys and girls and get back to me with a team list so we can confirm there are enough numbers.

I will try to get out to the park this weekend to see what it's like and what other facilities are there.

Another slight problem is that a number of people from Welly seem keen to go to the ACFC v Waitakare game at Kiwitea street at 1.00pm. What does that do to proposed timing? Perhaps it could be a curtainraiser for that game....lol

Could do this in the morning? 10am-ish, would give us about an hour and a half to get to Kiwitea. I'm not familiar with the locations in Auckland, would this be achievable? Would make for an awesome day of football.

...I thought the curtain raiser was at Eden Park before the Nix game?

248 bus.  5 minute walk...  90 minutes too much.

10:00 could work for me if I make it then I'd run for town to socialise though rather than kiwitea.

Just checked the ASB Premiership website and the curtainraiser is at Kiwitea St.  Not sure where I heard it would be played at Eden Park

Well if we can get the use of the field at Auckland FC in the morning it would be awesome... play a game, drink some beer, watch a game, then watch another game... not necessarily in that order :P

Anyone have any contacts at the club?

Just miss out on the Auckland vs Wellington game by a few days too!

Funnily enough we host their website as well as this one :P

Can't see them letting us on Kiwitea. Would need to find somewhere else that way, or somewhere else on the 248 route.

Just think, if all you Wellies shouted for Waitakere you'd ruin their deathly wall of silence.

Kiwitea St full of Phoenix supporters? A dangerous liason indeed!

Hoggy to be The Great Appeaser. At least the Nix supporters will be able to cheer on Mulligan, finally.

OK so the deal will have to be something like Nixon Park at about 10am, then across to Kiwitea Street for the game and the bar there. Checked with management... they will have a bar in the clubhouse and one outside which I'm guessing is by the stands, and will also be a food stand outside too.

So let's get final numbers sorted. Anyone got a phone number for Dale or one of the other guys down there in Wellington?

Oh and of course from there to Eden Park.

Not sure how exactly we are going to make our way around though... can look at how much a chartered bus/the party bus will cost. Won't cost much with everyone chipping in.

10am cold be potentially a bit rough. But count me in.
