In the PL Jesus has 4 goals and 3 assists. Add in cup stats and 9 goal involvements could be a thing?

Zinchenko rotated to the base of midfield with Xhaka in they couple of games he played early on. He looked decent enough there, but it leaves a massive hole at LB given Tierney is injured too. We need a replacement for either spot, midifeld is probably the easier of the two to find as decent LB's are rare in any league.
I think Zinchenko at LB reduces our reliance on Partey pulling out special passes, but he doesn't have any sort of defensive awareness at all, can't tackle. He can't cover big spaces. He would never be able to play that lone 6 role, which is why City never played him there and he was always at LB or tucked in.
What Partey brings:
1. Press resistance
2. Covers huge space
3. Progressive passing
4. Physicality/presence
There are only a handful of midfielders on the planet who do that consistently.
unfortunately Partey is not one of that handful - he's too fragile to meet the unmentioned point 5. can do the above 4 week in week out.
I watched Spurs vs Leicester on the weekend. Conteball is efficient but boring. They regularly surrendered possession at home to suck in Leicester and spring a counter. Final score didn’t reflect the game well at all. Much prefer the Arteta ball, fizzing to see how it plays out.
Anyone else watched Inside Hale End on YouTube? Really enjoying the insight. Totally different style from All or Nothing, but I'm grateful to get a better understanding of how the young un's come through.
Partey picked up an injury warming up before the Brazil game. Shark. I think he has jumped a head of xhaka as the midfielder we need to replace. He just isn’t reliable. I saw a stat the other day that he’s only played 54% of games while be at the club. We need better than that.
Partey again??? Jaysus. Dude is made of glass, this is a real problem for us.
I reckon the clock is ticking on Zinchenko moving into midfield.

I started watching the Hale End thing on your advice brumbys and it's really good!
How does Zinny move into midfield help when Partey is injured? I wouldn't trust him at the base of midfield, and wouldn't want him to take Xhaka's spot given how well Xhaka is playing. Equally it would then mean we're relying on KT to be fit and available, which is moving the fragile problem from CDM to LB.
I'm with Kwlap, need to buy a replacement in January and be willing to move on longer term.

Yea we now have a few players who can cover the more box to box or traditional CM role (Xhaka, Zin, Sambi, MO+SR at a stretch), with only Elneny covering Partey. While Elneny is a great club man, he isnt first choice for a reason.
Unless we change system, which is possible as we saw Arteta do that last season, but i doubt that is the preferred. So strengthening is the best option. Not sure who is out there though.
In 'lol land', I see we are being linked with Vlahovic again. Apparently he is unhappy at juve after starting to be a bit shark, and his agents have approached us. I think player and agent can ggf'd after the way the carried on last year :)

I feel that Zinchenko would be excellently suited to the base of midfield brumbys...
Yes we dont want to rely on KT but I dont think we have much choice between now and Jan when we will be able to go to market.
Just feel that Zinchenko is a better bet than Lokonga.

Is Tierney injured again?
He was injured while playing for Scotland I think. But I thought he was online to play this weekend.
KT was concussed, so just needs a bit of time really - might just get away with it.
I get Zinny rotates with Xhaka, but I'm still not convinced myself.

I feel that Zinchenko has all the skills to play Partey's role.
He's secure and strong over the ball, decent in the tackle, turns well when receiving, and has an excellent passing range, perhaps better than Partey's. He also has a natural bit of gravitas about him I reckon, I like how he holds himself, he gives an aura of confidence and strength.
The only downside to me is the reliance that puts on Tierney to start at LB week in week out, as others have pointed out. Although I wouldn't mind Tomiyasu over on that side if we had to, now that White has established himself at RB. I think Tomiyasu can play that role, filled in there once or twice last season.

I don't know about Tomi on the left, he can play CB but LB is different to RB, White has done well at RB and will now be pushing Tomi for the starting spot.
Tomiyasu plays LCB for Japan frequently. He can play anywhere along the backline because he's comfortable on both feet, and has played LB for Arsenal before.

It’s also mad that he barely missed at match for athleti. But has just been crock since joining us.
The "handful" was referring to the number of games he's available per season.
It's going to be a grueling few weeks with ESR now confirmed out until after the world cup having had surgery on his groin.
13 games across PL, Europa, and EFL cup between Oct 1st and Nov 12th.
Rotation will be key, as we've kept saying all along.

Arsenal have announced that they have extended their partnership with Adidas to be their kit supplier until 2030. I love the Adidas kits so I can see my already large Arsenal shirt collection growing even bigger.
All ready for the Battle of North London, fingers crossed we dominate.
solid starting XI
Ramsdale
White Saliba Gabriel Zinchenko
Partey Xhaka
Saka Odegaard Martenelli
Jesus
Stoked to see Partey fit enough to play.

no goals yet 17th minute but we have created so many chances.
Son is probably the most dangerous player Tottenham have at the moment, Kane is just not really getting involved.
Partey!!!!!!! opens the scoring and Spurs look down!
what a shot! Saka, to Gabriel, who lays it of to Partey, forst time strike curves it passed slow Lloris.

Oh FFS, Gabriel hacks at the attacker and concedes the pen from nothing!
Ramsdale could have done so much better in that sequence, instead he charges off his line and is left in no mans land forcing defenders to fly in from all sides.

tempers gettng a little frayed, 40 mins in and there are shirt pulls, arm tugging and blatent fouls being ignored by the ref, this could get ugly.
1-1 at the half, feel like the ref is letting way too much go, it;s fine to allow some ohysical stuff but the hacking of players is just insane.
All over them first 20 but fudge me that was a shark pen to give away. Nonsense defending from multiple parties.
Their front three is a massive worry.

Brilliant second half. Gifted the Jesus goal but Xhaka's was brilliant all round. Game was pedestrian after that once Conte conceded it.
Performance of the season in our biggest game so far. Bring on the scousers.

Bloody brilliant
That was arousing, you love to see it.
Not a bad performance from anyone. Stand outs for me were Partey, Xhaka, Saliba and Jesus. The players seem to have a real togetherness about them this season which was witnessed by that huddle led by Xhaka and how good was Zinchenko's celebration after Xhaka's goal. I love that man.
It's the one year anniversary of my wife's Father's funeral today (passed away during level 4 last year) so we are out of town staying with the MIL without access to sky sport. Was planning to avoid the result and watch when we got home tonight. Took the MIL out for lunch today and I was wearing an Arsenal hoody so some guy in the restaurant gets up from his table, comes over points at my top and goes "good win this morning mate 3-1!" Would have been enjoyable to have watched properly.
Feels like a statement win and should answer some of the people saying we're only where we are because we haven't played anyone yet.

Whilst we are looking good at the moment, and hold the top spot, I have one nagging concern and that's the games aginst Man City, Haarland is on fire and scoring for funsies; 4-1 up at half time over United ato finsih 6-3. City have score 9 goals more than us and conceded 1 more thus far. Assuming saliba and Gabriel are our CB pairing for as long as they want, I just hope they are ready for the Haarland storm.
