Wouldn't pace be the issue for him? Assuming he's not starting but finishing games it could work.
Don't really need a pacey front man when you have Saka and Matinelli on the wings, along with Odegaard and Rice in the middle, he'd just need to hang around the 18yrd box and receive the crosses sent his way.
Love that the one game I miss we put 5 in the goal.

Pace might disguise my concerns, perhaps energy is more relevant. The way Jesus presses is key to our game plan. If Benzema hasn't got the energy to do it and play back to goal Firminoesque link up without the pressing, maybe it's enough of a different approach to work. About 8 years late for the transfer but fudge it, what harm could a loan do!

I keep seeing rumours that Newcastle are struggling with FFP, so they need to sell. Almiron's their guy, and surprise surprise Saudi clubs are coming to the table. The whole thing is a fudgeing joke if they can just magically sell to a Saudi club every time they need to balance the books.

With Kloop standing down end of this season, we'll need United or Chelsea to step up next year and help keep the league competitive against City.

Emery can do it, but will Villa have the squad to go the distance this year and re-invest to upgrade next?

Dominated without threatening. Reminded me of some of the more frustrating Arsene-ball times. Lots of ball but little penetration.
Glad ESR got 70mins. Didn’t play bad and couldn’t be useful as an alternative to that side. Even if I do see him as more of an understudy to Ødegaard.
But happy with the win and we can’t do much better than getting 3 points atm. Gotta hope Liverpool and city drop some.

Made hard work of it but was important to get the result.
8.30am would be an amazing kickoff time in a weekend but was an annoying one on a workday (or a non work from home day I should say). Managed to watch the first 20ish mins live on the train then was hoping to watch another 45 mins or so at lunch time but of course 2 hours since the game finished wasn't enough time for SkyGo to put it up on demand. So had to avoid the result the rest of the day and managed to watch the rest of the first half on the train after work but then was playing tennis last night so didn't get to the 2nd half until 9pm.

I keep seeing rumours about relationships between United and Rashford being strained. I know there’s nothing to suggest it’d happen but do you think he could fit the Arsenal style?

He’s always been one of the more tolerable Man United players in my books. And maybe I’m still bitter that they poached RVP and Sanchez off us in their primes so would love for us to be in a position to do it back to them.

Oddly, I’ve been thinking the same. And while I think he’s talented, I don’t think we plays well enough through the middle to be what we need. Like I see him more effective coming in off the wing. Not that I can say I watch him much.
I’d compare the idea of signing him to the Danny welbeck signing. We picked him up as a useful squaddie rather than a starter.

Rashford or Neto would be great additions out wide for us to deepen the squad.

Great win, excellent performance.
Maybe it was forced by Jesus being out but i thiought the tactics from arteta were spot o.
Havertz and Odegaard were excellent as a kind of a false 9 duo, floating all over the place. Jorginho had a great game and the midfield set up suited the game perfectly.
Re: the Rashford comments, not a silly idea, Arteta is a known admirer, we were sniffing arounf when he signed his last contract.

That was thoroughly enjoyable. Havertz at 9 worked in an odd way, but when he is doing classic striker things he looks so out of his depth. Hopefully we get someone decent through the middle over the summer and we can get Havertz into a good groove in the left 8.

Jorginho & Rice worked bloody well together. Rice, as per usual, is bloody unreal. It boggles the mind when you think just how good Partey was when he first joined, and now I forget he’s around such is the upgrade on him we have found.

Fudgeing get in. Not many things better than beating them.
Horrendous goal to gift them.  You just fudgeing hoof it into the stands there then it's half time. Thankfully the greatest defender and goalkeeper of all time repaid the favour. Was thinking we really needed a 3rd as Liverpool scoring in injury time is usually as sure as night follows day.
Beaten them and City this season now. Big monkey off the back.

Highly entertaining game, stoked we came away with the win, after how we played the first half I thought we deserved it. # of the 4 goals we from errors. The only really good goal was Trossard's. Still we did more and came away with the 3 points,.

Klopp pulled a hamstring celebrating a 4-3 win over Spurs in May 2023. There was no title race to speak of.

Klopp broke his glasses celebrating a 5-4 win over Norwich in January 2016. Liverpool finished 8th that season.

Klopp did laps of Anfield celebrating a 1-0 win over Everton in December 2018. Five months left in that season, where Liverpool finished second.

Klopp and Liverpool can fudge right off.

We celebrate when and how we want.

It's just such a bizarre thing to be annoyed about. If it's wrong to celebrate winning a game against a title rival who we don't often get a result against these days then genuinely what is the point of sport?

Pure and simple Carragher  is an absolute cod! Hates the gunners and any positivity around them has to be stopped (in his mind). Why he still gets a microphone put in his hand is beyond me, offers nothing to the game at all.

As a player he was a Twit but as a pundit he’s good for a laugh and plays off Micah Richards well (I never would’ve thought Richards would be so funny).

But pundits who toe the line and are 100% neutral are boring and I’m really not interested in listening to them. A group of one-eyed has-beens taking shots at each other is entertainment. Agree that Arteta celebrating is a daft thing to moan about but who cares that he doesn’t like it, and I hope he keeps talking nonsense.

Edit: why does t w a t get censored on here and changed to twit? Wow

Our sales this summer will be interesting:
  • I suspect bringing in a new striker will mean Nketiah goes.
  • Nelson isn’t good enough for RW cover, time to go.
  • One of ESR & Viera needs to go too, can’t have players of that quality not playing and plagued by injury.
  • Partey's time is up, need to cut losses and get some extra coin.
  • Ramsdale won't stick around to be number 2.
If we sold all 3 academy boys we would have a lot of room under FFP for a couple of £100m purchases. I think we'll also trigger another 12 months for Jorginho.

Cracking game, I watched it delayed but could see the 'holy sh*t' messages flooding my phone! Formation really worked with Trossard and Havertz alternating the left 8 and striker position. Meant we sometimes lacked a focal point, but it also meant the WH defence didn't know where to focus. Kiwior mostly stuck to LB, and occasionally White doubled up in CM if needed but no where near as much as Zinchenko does. What's interesting to me is how we've not really seen that move last week or this week and had some outstanding results. Feels like we've added another tactical dimension to the team which is only a good thing. Also great to see us convert dominance into goals, which is something we've struggled with, as well as see us pull level with City on GD and only one behind Liverpool. Keeping in touch with that cold be the difference at the end of the season.
