3-3 draw at Man City. That'll do.
I believe they may have spent the odd quid more than us in assembling their squad. There you go then.

I know, I know, its serious!

so how are burnley fans taking the news that owen coyle could be heading down to the reebok stadium? good move or bad move ? will he still have his god status in burnley?

I think it's a bad move for him. He would have gotten away with a poor season this time with Burnley having gotten them promoted. Now Bolton will be expecting a lot more from him with a lot less patience.

i have to agree i don't see how you can turn down a club of celtics size at the start of the season for a smaller club in the name of bolton makes no sense

Not well.
Initially gutted, I'm more disappointed/angry. Disappointed in Coyle who we saw as 'god' as he has gone and behaved in a wa y that goes right against the grain of what we are all about. And he has gone and taken all our backroom staff as well. And to Bolton! WTF! Be prepared to be disappointed Bolton fans, you're the next stepping stone.
So it's back to the drawing board, we've got Burnley legend Martin Dobson stepping in as caretaker while we regroup.
Personally I am so looking forward to Bolton's relegation while we survive. That would bring extreme pleasure. Might just have a wee bet on it.
Slightly bitter, then!

What's Dobson being doing before this appointment. He really was a good solid player in his day. scored a few decent goals too.

Dobbo has been running the Burnley youth set-up .Been doing a good job. Now we're letting him loose on the big kids.

on what basis?
Depth of chairman's pocket? Maybe that's the way things are measured these days.
Otherwise very similar level clubs (unless one is quite young and bases it on recent events, but these are quite cyclical).
Hardly a big step up.

History for one. Especially recent history.

Three for me, and two for them.

Both founder members. Both, ironically, 2 of 3 teams to win all 4 divisions of the football league (although can't remember when Bolton last won the league - maybea couple of centuries ago). In terms of development, Bolton may be 5 years ahead of the Clarets. But otherwise, pretty similar in stature.
Let's face it, he's gone for more money. They can have him, and just like Big Stan he'll move on for even more money.

Bolton have never won the top division.

You're dead right. Had this view that Burnley & Wolves were joined by Bolton as the only winners of all 4 divisions. Must have got it wrong.
Well, Burnley have twice been been champions of England, and post-war spent about 20 consecutive seasons in the top 10. Over the years, Bolton may have had more years in the top tier, but I would have thought that on balance one would see them as clubs of a similar stature. Bolton are no Lpool, Everton, Man U/C et al.
Time to move on. Turfmoore2010-01-12 06:27:10

I would hope that Burnley fans don't abuse him as he has done wonders for them. Having said that though, its rough going to such close rivals....
Tough call

Who is going to replace him? Haven't been following it much. Did a good job at Burnley though. And played against our Reserves!

Well pleased that we had the Vaseline handy.

Actually Chelsea will be right up there this year. Absolutely sublime for a 25 minute period in the 1st half.

Off to Swansea next; they must be pretty shite.  What have they done?

Well done by your lot Mike, you wanted it more than we did and you dominated

you might just have turned your season around

as for us, we need Jela and Dawson back - and I wouldn't be surprised if Meyler gets a run soon for Bruce to make a point about wanting palyers to have a decent attitutude

http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/jan/05/bu...

"The home side, buoyed by decent draws at St James’ Park and Manchester City in the past eight days, pressed to good effect but were unable to release Danny Ings or Ashley Barnes behind the Spurs defence and the contest had the air of a reserve team outing long before the referee, Roger East, brought respite with the half-time whistle. Pity the poor Burnley fan who had travelled from New Zealand to be here."

Burnley playing well in the first half.  Spurs very much 2nd best at the moment.

Struggling to stay awake tbh! Might not last the 2nd half.

Oddly enough, he will be a great signing. Gives 100% on the field, still a loose canon off it and ignore his twitter blitz. We should have signed him for 1 more season at vastly reduced rates.
