Good result, controlled the game and played some nice stuff.  Deco outstanding again I thought.  Robinho will get better that's for sure and SWP already looks like a different player from the one that ponced around the Bridge for the last three years.  City will definitely get better as the season goes on I reckon.  The guy at the back who chased Drogba down and took the ball cleanly off him in the area near the end looked good.  Nice to burst their bubble though all the same.

i agree with everything you said coxey, exept we're playin united at the bridge, not old trafford. i think we had a great win, a real shame about jt getting carded, should have only been a yellow as far as im concerned, hopefully we apeal it and get him on the pitch against man u because that ref's descision was crap quite frankly. should have been 4-1 as well, bloody micah richards man handling anelka, but there ya go, good to see drogba getting a run, and beletti as well. as for malouda, well, he is trying, which is a good sign. glad to see the scousers finally beat man u as well, berbatov not the miracle signing after all, well yet anyway. so hopefully for the mancs it will be two losses on the trot, i hope too see drogba get a proper game wednesday in the champions league, will be great.

Interesting to see Avram Grant sitting behind the Man City owner.  Perhaps he's being lined up to take over from Mark Hughes once Sparky falls out with the new owners.  Ha ha.

i spotted that one as well jose, was quite puzzled. ah well, they can have him, a new director of football at the middle eastlands perhaps, they really are trying to take a page from our book. but if they do it they way we did it, then they should be alright tho, as long as they can live with all the media hype this season, when we all know they probably wont see champions league football for another couple of seasons yet.

Butch is back!  Wilkins back in as coach to replace Steve Clarke.  Seems like a good move to me.  I thought he did a good job under Vialli and he talks a lot of sense.

Interesting stats at the end of the game.  I think it was 13 shots on target 17 off target.  And that was just Chelsea!  Another great home display.  That's 86 games unbeaten at home now.

Great to read the accolades this week for the whole team, for Scolari and for the flowing attacking football we are playing.....

To see Ashley Cole and Jose Bosingwa bombing forward down the wings linking up so well with Florent Malouda and Joe Cole.....

Beautiful football at the Bridge.....bring on Liverpool in a few weeks time!!!

I have just read that Abramovich has hemorrhaged 11.9 billion pounds on the Russian stock market collapse as his steel & mining companies have over halved in value. I don't think this will affect the team at all but its a warning that someday the gravy train may stop. From what I've read you guys are at least trying to turn it around and make the club self sufficient in the long term.

Yeah I read that too UG, but on Friday I read about Romans new superyacht he's building worth 200million squids.

He is having it fitted with anti missile technology so he will be safe from pirates off the coasts of Somalia and Mozambique when he sails down to the World Cup in South Africa in 2010......

Ahhhhh, tough life and am sure he's concerned about his fortune....but agree we're looking in a better position than we have in recent years.  I don't think he's going anywhere in the near future, regardless of how his other businesses are faring.

Blue Army!!!!

I've recommended this book elsewhere on the forum.  It's a cracking read and shows what a contrast professional football was just 20 years ago.  He's had a hard life that boy.

Just found this on a Chelsea site. It sounds like a bit of overkill by the Police involved although I'd be interested to see how it all really started...............................

Following his arrest after Chelseas FA Cup tie against QPR last season, the case against Cliff Auger for threatening behaviour was thrown out by magistrates but, in what we here at cfcuk.net consider a totally farcical verdict, he was, nevertheless, found guilty and fined 500 for causing unnecessary suffering to a police dog'.

The incident occurred when Cliff, his two sons and two of their friends were walking away from Stamford Bridge after the match. They had walked up the North End Rd when, opposite The Goose pub, the Tactical Support Group of the Metropolitan Police arrived and, for reasons still unknown, decided to set their dogs of Cliffs 16-year-old son James.

One of the animals an Alsatian sunk its teeth into the back of the youngsters thigh causing his father to kick the dog in an attempt to make the dog release its jaws from his leg.

Upon seeing Cliff kick the dog, officers in the TSG set about Cliff and, after they had pinned him to the ground and assaulted him, he was arrested and taken to Hammersmith Police Station.

Whilst in the cells, Cliff complained about not feeling well and a doctor was called and, after a brief examination, he recommended that he should go straight to hospital.

Once there, he was taken for x-rays and it was discovered that he had sustained three broken ribs and a punctured lung as a result of the TSG officers attempting to arrest him.

He was charged with the offences mentioned above and today, after a two day trial, the charge of threatening behaviour was dismissed but the magistrate decided that he was guilty of the offence against the dog and imposed the fine.

In our opinion, it is farcical because, as the case against Cliff was thrown out for threatening behaviour, what justification had the police got for allowing their dog to attack and bite his son?

That said, there is still an ongoing investigation into the incident being carried out by the Independent Police Complaints Commission and the case for an appeal is being considered.

We here at cfcuk.net are asking Chelsea supporters to back Cliff and his family by contributing to a fund to not only help Cliff pay his fine but also fund the costs of any forthcoming appeal against conviction.

The cfcuk fanzine sellers will be collecting from those who wish to donate on the Chelsea special train to Middlesbrough on Saturday and there will be a collection tin located at the cfcuk stall on the Fulham Rd prior to the home matches against Roman and Liverpool.

If 500 people give just 1, it will pay Cliffs fine and, should the same number of contributors give 5 each, it would go a long way to paying the considerable costs should an appeal be launched.

Your help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Just as in the days of the 1970s and 1980s when Cghelsea supporters were arrested and fined, we here at cfcuk.net are hoping that the Chelsea family unite to help one of their own.

Yeah, I saw this as well. Unfortunately there seems to be the stigma remaining from the old Shed/Chelsea Ultra days, so any Chelsea supporter is often deamed a toublemaker.

Ha, I used to live on North End Road and just opposite the Goose too......

Brilliant old memories.....

My how the markets on NE Road went nuts after Roberto Di Matteo scored in the 1997 FA Cup final after just 42 seconds.....incredible scenes hanging out my window.....

Were the chelsea fans really that bad back then?? I stood in the shed for a game against the arse (1-1) back in the 80's and felt quite safe.  Considering I'm not a Chelsea fan, I had a good time and enjoyed a cracking game.

Yeah, I was too young to attend in the 80's, but some of the older guys there have given me some stories about the Ultras being pretty bad, and aligned to the National Front etc etc. Apparently the games against Leeds were the worst.
