that was a very rusty performance, especially up front. defense looked ok for the most part i thought, kalou and malouda were both pretty poor. the midfield 3 were ok, ramires looking the most lively. torres did look up for it and very spritely. lampards penalty claim was about as obvious a call as you will see but we shouldn't have to rely on a penalty vs stokeits disappointing to drop points but a trip to the britania is never easy so not a dreadful result.now a couple of other points;what the hell is up with mikels shirt, looks like he has like 3 quarter length sleeves or something. wierd.you know how the ref gets surrounded by players after a big decision i.e. red card or penalty, well this was happening for most of the calls he made, even seemingly minor ones. was really annoying.shawcross needs to settle down on set pieces. be it attacking or defending ive never seen a player constantly manhandle other players the way he does.

some great points. especially about maluada Kalao and Ramires. Ramires looked great, he really impressed me today. i thought game was niggly and both sides were probably lucky someone didnt get sent off.

was surprised to see alex given the nod ahead of ivanovic. and it looks as though bosingwa mat have a new lease of life under avb.

am expecting changes up front for the wba game. maybe anelka in for kalou.

so i know carlo couldn't figure out how to get drogba and torres to work together but in my opinion we cant have one starting and the other on the bench all season, pure waste. so avb needs to find a way to get them working together. either as a front 3 with sturridge/malouda/anelka/kalou or as a front 2 with someone like anelka or lampard sitting in behind them.

Agree...Kalou is a worry...should have been off at half-time and Ivanovic had slight thigh injuryChopperHarris2011-08-15 20:58:41

Is the limited availability because Frank Lampard has tried to eat them all?

Three for me, and two for them.

Happened to Wilson Palacios' brother who then was killed by the kidnappers.  Wilson never really recovered (on the playing field) after that.

Cech out for 4 weeks, bummer. looked good in pre season and vs stoke so will be missed. big question as to whom will start vs WBA. Turnbull or Hilario. i feel Turnbull is a bit more prone to mistakes so would prefer Hilario, not to say he hasn't made the odd gaff or 2 but just feel he gives the defenders more confidence. Cech should only miss the games vs WBA and Norwich so we should cope without him Downey262011-08-19 06:30:00

worse 1st half chelsea have played for years.....Alex....Kalou...Terry so poor...a win but so lucky

that first half was f**king woeful. good example there as to why id prefer ivanovic in ahead of alex. thought kalou was lucky to even get a start after last week. been impressed with anelka, hes looked good going forward and a really nicely taken goal this morning.
really stoked we got the 3 points from that but theres still alot of work to be done. avb cant expect to only start either torres and drogba and keep them both happy. he needs to try and make it work with them up front together.
we need more quality service into the strikers. seemed like we ran out of ideas when it came to this today so just passed it to bosingwa for him to put in a hopeful cross. though he did really well to set up the winner. but the amount of times he was horribly out of position is a worry, we will get teared to pieces vs better opostition if he keeps that up. in his defence though we were chasing the game for 80 mins so he needed to do something

looks as though we are completing the deal of Juan Mata over the coming days. really good signing this, should help address the problem of adequate service to the strikers

Thoughts on Hilario? I thought he did ok, goal wasn't his fault, he must have been pissed to see Long coming through 1 on 1 so early on after the mistake from Alex. He came out well to the edge of the box to collect the ball and made a nice save near the end from the Tchoyi shot.

agree...did ok...good reserve keeper.....on that goal Terry was slack to...never got into any position to recieve a pass from Alex, will be a few changes in the coming weeks

Will they start Torres again this week or throw Drog back up front?

Would also like to know this for potential fantasy signings...
Mata is a really good player, going to be boss in England.

yeah that's why I'm asking. Potential for Chelsea to put a few past Norwich this weekend but with Torres being pulled after 60 last week I wonder whether they'll let the Drog out.

personally i hope AVB starts drogba, and believe that he will do just that.

its the last week of sturridges ban so will be good to have him available for sunderland. gives us a few more options up front.

we play norwich, swansea and qpr in the next 7 games so would be nice to see some different formations and combination's given a try in these games.

Valencia.
Leverkusen.
Genk.

interesting group, tough trip to the mestalla and the away trip to leverkusen could also pose quite a test. still though, think we have enough to win this group if we play well enough.

we played valencia a couple seasons back but have never played genk or leverkusen so looking forward to that.

underway september 13 at home to leverkusen. cant wait.

a contributing factor in signing him no doubt.

ive always thought anelkas beard makes him look like 2-pac. the whole shaved head and beard thing.

yay, 3 points!

very incedednt filled game.
really nice goal from bosingwa, thought after that start we would run away with it but to be fair to norwich they came back really well.

really annoying goal to concede, first real sign that we miss cech, god knows what hilario was doing coming out for that.

thought the penalty was pretty obvious, good work from ramires to get away from naughton. really awesome to see mata score on debut.

thought we looked alot better once anelka and mata came on, also lukaku looked very promising. pretty excited with these 2.

malouda was really quiet, and the defence seemed to be caught out every time a ball was sent over the top so thats a bit of a worry.

that drogba injury was amongst the scariest ive seen. seeing him fall face down already unconcious was really worrying.

agree with your report.......the defence is so poor, Terry not playing well enough and no one seems to want to pick up runners from deep.....Norwich still looked good with 10 men, but playing poorly and winning is  a bonus ChopperHarris2011-08-28 09:35:33

In slow motion, made it look a bad incident look even worse. My stomach sank watching it. First time for me watching a game where there is more than 10 minutes of added time at the end.
