Geez with what was on the line this morning that was a very poor performance.

76% possession. 22 shots to 2. 13 corners to 0.

As has been the case this season, teams find it realatively wasy to jsut sit back and let us have the ball knowing that we seriously lack the creativity to conjure up a decent attempt on goal.

Which is odd when you have Hazard, Willian, Pedro, and Higuain at your disposal.

Is it the players, Sarriball, or a bit of both?

How could you have forgotten the great man himself - Olivier Giroud!!!

He's been relegated to cups and Europa league - sign the beautiful b*stard on a free this summer and bring him home!

Zidane doing a Jardim and riding to Florentino's rescue at Real. All-but guarantees Hazard will be wearing white and being unveiled at the Bernabeu at some point this summer.

Cool to see Hudson-Odoi starting for England. And setting up Barkley for one of his 2

22 Apr 20:57

Well we bottled that rather spectacularly, That's embarassing.

How good to see RLC get injured in a meaningless post season friendly.

Sarri called this one.

I would’ve said the possible transfer ban would be a blessing in disguise for us, but RLC’s injury is going to make that bitter sweet.

Well i fully expected us to lose this morning. It seemed with the CHO, RLC and Kante injuries, Sarri out rumours, Hazard leaving rumours and Arsenal needing to win to get Champions League all the momentum would've been with them.

That second half was excellent, though Arsenal's defense made us look better at times. Nice to see Hazard with 2 goals in his final game.

All in all, 3rd place in the league, losing League Cup final on penalties, Europa League winners isn't bad for a season whree we were in 'crisis' and Sarri was supposably out the door every other week.

30 May 12:28

Fair play lads - you absolutely deserved that.

02 Jun 00:27

Sarri on his way out then. The first permanent Chelsea coach to depart without being sacked (I'm discounting Mourinho's first 'mutual consent' departure as PR spin) since Glen Hoddle left us to take up the England job.

As much as he was never a 'fit,' and as alien as his philosophy was to a vocal segment of the support, I'll still have a bit of a 'what-if' feeling in 12 months when he's inevitably lifting the Serie A title with Juve.

Allegri is the only real 'category A' candidate on the market at the moment, think he'd be a good fit in the initial Conte mould but if the club are pressing on with the transition to a more attack/possession style of play then he might not be at the top of their list. Frank would be a popular but risky appointment, would be vital to get the support mix right if we were to go down that route: obviously Jody Morris, ideally Steve Holland but I think he's pretty wedded to the Southgate England revolution at the moment.

Reports in Italy suggest we've reached a 'non-belligerence' (their lexicon, idk) agreement with Juve which means they won't go after Jorginho or Emerson. Supposedly they won't be paying any compensation to get Sarri but have waived some money owed on the Higuain deal in lieu of that.

02 Jun 06:01

Way too soon for Frank you gotta feel. He needs to stay at Derby and keep doing what he's doing there. If not Allegri then who i wonder?

02 Jun 09:19

I certainly think Frank would benefit from more time at Derby. Though with Mel Morris scaling back investment and the departure of key loan players I think automatic promotion will be a big ask.

The names doing the rounds at the moment verge from the cliche (Blanc) to the sensible (Nuno, Allegri) to the absurd (Vieira - and by absurd I mean his Arsenal links, he's actually quite a promising manager).

02 Jun 22:22

Nuno from Wolves?

He certainly did well with them last season but they were pretty counter attacking based. Would that be going away from what the board want though?

02 Jun 22:54

Rob Green did not play one game for Chelsea.  He proved that you can be a winner and a loser, or be a loser and a winner.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Les Bleus were awarded their Legion of Honour medals by President Macron today - the highest French order of merit for military or civil distinction. A very humbled looking N’Golo Kanté here enjoying his moment.

Lampard + Morris looking increasingly likely.

Pretty hard seeing Hazard kiss the Real Madrid badge. I know it's all part of the unveiling process, but still, ouch.

Away to United first game of the season.

Then 3 days later we're in Istanbul for the Super Cup vs Liverpool who have like 5 or 6 days to prepare so that's good.

Sarri officially gone to Juventus. I bit Rudan like saying he wants to go back to Italy to be closer to familty etc. Strange feeling having a manager leave of his own accord.

Managers come, managers go, but the trophies and glory are forever.

Although we are running out of top level managers to hire.

Well that was certainly a very disappointing result.

I actually thought we were the better team up until they scored their second. Then our defense just capitulated which is a huge worry.

Big call to start both Tammy and Mount but i thought both impressed. We looked pretty good moving the ball through the midfield. Zouma was pretty terrible but everyone has bad games. Chuck Rudi and a fit Kante back into that side and we start looking a lot more stable. Not to mention CHO and RLC to come back into the side and there's plenty to be positive about.

We hit the post more than any other team last season and it looks like our luck has continued into this season.

I think I'm in the mind to just write that one off and go again next up vs Liverpool.

As Lamps said United away is tough for anyone. Despite them being a laughing stock the last few years obviously there’s been a rejuvenation under Ole.

Big call to start Mount and Abraham as you say but isn’t it finally great to see the youth getting a go. I remember the days where I dreamed of Van Aanholt, Bruma, McEachran, Bamford, Ake, and countless more getting the nod, now it’s a reality.

Mount looked good, and Abraham unlucky, should have had two.

Great ball from Pogba for their third goal, couldn’t believe it though, I was texting my mate about how United hit us on the counter for that second I looked up and they scored again.

Put it behind us and onto the next one.

Sitrep time as we reach the halfway mark of the group stage. Massive for us to get a win away at Ajax, I've not had the chance to watch the game yet but from what I've read it was a mature and composed performance. Azpi apparently played really well, seems to have put his early season jips behind him. Tomori also composed at the back. Jorginho apparently continuing his reclamation project in midfield with some solid defensive work. All the more impressive that we've gone on this good run sans Rudi and mostly sans Kante. Exciting to envisage what we can do with those two back in the fold soon (touch wood). Pulisic also coming on and making an impact again. For all the hyperventilating press bullshark he seems to be finding his feet.

Also a big hat tip to Batshuayi, I didn't think he'd figure much this season but he must be doing something right in training to edge ahead of Giroud as our second option up front.

We had a bit of ground to make up given our loss at home to Valencia. But you can't ask for much more than back-to-back away wins against credible European opposition. Fingers crossed we can take care of Ajax at home so there's less pressure on the Valencia away game. Lille did us a big favor by equalising late to stop them from climbing to 6 points. Group still delicately poised but I'd have been happy with a draw in Amsterdam, so we're in bonus territory as far as I'm concerned.

6 consecutive wins in all comps. Burnley will be a tricky away next up but there's no reason we can't go up there and make it 7 on the spin. Might even see Pulisic get a start given CHO apparently looked a little rusty.

Very sad to hear of Peter Bonetti's passing. Prior to Cech our undisputed greatest keeper, and there's still an argument for putting them first equal. Cech with the nod on silverware but Bonetti's longevity was only surpassed by Chopper Harris.

had really high hopes for this year.  guess it a little bit early

but lets hope as players get more used to each other and injured players come back we can do better

it was great to see the clean sheet this weekend. (and someone other than Kepa in goal)

omg if kepa never plays another game for us it will still be too many....

Great to see werner score for us in the league

How bad is Kepa. I can understand the fee if he was rated that highly, but the length of that contract!

21 Oct 23:27

it is amazing how bad he is, but GK is a massive confidence position and once its gone its hard to get back.....  He needs to be loaned somewhere to try to get his confidence back

22 Oct 21:28

Yea agree re: confidence position, which makes it all the more bewildering as to why the contract length is so long.

22 Oct 22:58

yea the length was a bit stupid. he could have got a career ending injury in his first session and that would be a massive waste....

Don't think we are going to be able to sell him now tho
