Cheltenham are one of those teams though. Whilst I don't know much about your game - just heard goal flashes during the Brighton commentary and thought to myself, there go Cheltenham doing it again. On the other hand, perhaps Colchester are as down as we (Brighton) are at the moment and Cheltenham have been lucky to face us and you in successive weeks.

Ling will be a good manager for you. He had Orient playing attractive football that generate results.

Up and down game.  At least we are scoring.  Hopefully we will be able to turn things round now.  It would not take much to rise up this table...the bottom half is not that good.  When you look at players like Mark Yeates we have too much quality to be languishing.

Lambert will be in charge now so it will be interesting to see what team changes there are in terms of tactics and who plays.

Continuing Orpewise's discussion about Chris Coyne considering an A League move...

He is an established international central defender yet can not cement a place in the Colchester United starting line up, despite Lambert saying improving our defence is the top priority.

Umm...?

Criag Moore has advised Chris to come to A League rather than languish in UK.

But Lambert may give him a chance......

2-1 win over Stockport! Platt leaving it late (85th minute).

Still no sign of Coyne.

Yes good to see.  But we should be beating these teams!

Leeds not having the cakewalk they expected though and amazingly Scunny are top!

It would only take a run of two or three wins for the picture to be transformed.....eg actually winning our home games!!

Key game at home to Carlisle this Sat.  Last game was close and showed promise (but we still lost at home again!).

We need to put a run together so that there is no fear of relegation afoot by Xmas.

Cup time!  It would be nice to have a cup run.  First up is Orient who we ought to beat at home.  I am predicting a 2-0 win.

all the best Col U fans, you seemed to have turned the corner -touch wood

It was obviously a blind corner following two poor home defeats in cup and league.  Real problems now just goal difference out of relegation spots.

ColU cant afford to go down to the Morecambe and Maccesfield league!

Hope the new loanees can add some spark.  Difficult to see why we are doing poorly with the players on the roster.....Yeates will leave if we keep being so poor........

Corner turned?!?  Two wins in a row  1-0 over Yoevil then 2-1 over Northampton.  Glimmers of hope at last!  Loan players seem to have freshened things up.  Yeates is still the most valuable player and some others are regaining form now.

Lambert seems fairly steady...hasnt made wholesale changes or made rash promises.

I had already counted him as one of ours...he made it clear when arriving on loan he wanted to stay.  But you are right he is a good acquisition.

We are rebuilding ready for a promotion push next season.  Aim this year now is to get to playoff fringe and consolidate new ground.

Another away win...up to 11th and closing in points wise.

Aim is to catch Leeds and Oldham and finish 5th or 6th!  Playoff time!!

New players have made things more solid, Tiernay, Walker in particular.  Yeates still playing above League 1 standard (hope we can keep him).  Perkins and Hammond doing well in midfield.

Saturday sees the new Weston Homes Community Stadium sold out for the first time for the visit of Leeds United.

Fixtures between these clubs have a special place in the hearts of Col U fans and this year it is our last chance to mount a charge for the final play off position (long shot!!).  Leeds fans are fed up of us mentioning the famous FA Cup win and point to Leeds victories over the years.......but guys! none of those games can ever mean as much sorry.

I like the look of our forward line this time round.  Lisbie is obviously going to score regularly and at last Platt and Vernon are back to the qaulity there were a couple of seasons back.  With past paced wide men to deliver I predict a high scoring year!

I think the so called big 4 (Norwich, Southampton, Charlton and Leeds) may find that several other sides will be ahead of them ColU included.

I agree, if only we still had Yeatesy, we'd be scoring for fun. Just hope we have sorted the "concede late on to f**k it up" problem that we had last year. Up the U's!
