haha donkeys always beat bulldogs
see what happened this morning to many dinamo players lol jokes.

back to this debate 100% he dived, 100% it was wrong. But in not appealing, how is that deceving the ref? he didnt hoot and holler like c.ronaldo does when a drop of rain hits him.
Hes become a scapegoat for this b.s and it will be interesting to see who gets banned next, if it even happens!

Luckily at least we have players who can make the starting line-up for the national team. Unlike some others...not that it did us much good yesterday .
Onwards and upwards.

On topic, yeah, UEFA have dropped the ball big time here. But that was to be expected really.

It's deceiving the ref because he's trying to win a free kick/penalty when he clearly hasn't been fouled. Doesn't matter whether he appeals or not. If he wasn't trying to deceive the ref, he wouldn't be diving.

Anyway, I can't believe this thread has gone on this long. I'm with EG, let's see what UEFA do in the future, now they have set this very dangerous precedent.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

LOL @ UEFA clowns.

They scheduled an appeal hearing and insisted that Eduardo attend in person in Switzerland.
Problem, the UEFA f**ktards decided it should be at the same time as the England vs Croatia game.

Farcical is the understatement of the century here.

The fact that they banned him without looking at the evidence provided, therefore forcing us to appeal to a different panel that actually bothers to look at evidence.
Surely the panel that gave him his ban should be reprimanded for being derelict in their duty.

here was actually a chance to do something about rampant cheating
looking gift horse in mouth about now

most appropriate course now is for a repeat offender criminal cheating bastard like R or R to dive and win the Champions league Final.

If something is to be done about diving, and I'm sure everyone agrees that something does need to be done, then someone is going to have to be the first to take the fall (excuse the horrible pun, I couldn't think of a better term for it) I would of thought?

Obviously if they get one guy then they have to be consistent but surely it will take a situation like this where they punish someone to send a proper message that UEFA/FIFA/The FA to prove they are serious about combatting this

as above I hope the big match of the season is decided by a repeat offenders gettign away with blatant cheating... here is your Cake Platini.

What the hell is going on in world football. The players and clubs are ruining the game. Eduardo blatently dived, got banned and then got off it. Adebayor first kicks a player in the head then tries to ensite a riot. Mark hughes say there was no malice in it. Players everyweek dive, fein injury, cheat without remorse and they and their clubs say nothing happens. Its an absolute farce. UEFA, FIFA, The FA, FFA and every other football association needs to pull their heads in and get on top of this sh*t. It is genuinly ruining the game.

Its no longer a problem.

Pull your finger out Uber. He dived. You saw it, I saw it, everyone saw it. The Arse winged, flexed a bit of muscle (what muscle and where I dont want to imagine) and UEFA backed down like a bunch uf babies.
Its an bloody disgrace. Nothing less.

What you or I saw is of no relevance. Arsenal produced evedince of contact, UEFA saw the evedince and decided that the grounds for a 2 match were unsubstabiated. It would be more of a disgrace if in the face of the evidence he was still given a ban.

Ok, I think people who do what Eduardo did should be banned. Whether he should have been banned in this instance - I don't know as I don't know what rules they are playing to. This is the problem, it's archaic. They generally don't ban players for diving, but this case hit big headlines and then some group in UEFA has acted (quite possibly stupidly).

More important than whether Eduardo is banned is sorting out some consistent rules around this so cheaters do get banned.

where were your calls for fair play etcetera when Ronaldo got Rooney sent of at the last WC,?
hell a Celtic player took a dive in his very next match and got a yellow card for it, but your not calling for his head.
go take your anti English, anti arsenal bias and play somewhere else.

Can you honestly say, hand on heart, that if the Arse make the CL final and the EXACT same thing happens against you that and you lose as a result you'll say it wasn't a dive? I highly doubt it.
it doesnt matter what i feel or think, if the evidence is contrary then so be it, you wont catch me joining in with some rich club conspiracy theory just becasue the SPL doesnt have two pound coins to rub together.

I think it's interesting that the referee and the referee assessor never saw the incident as worthy of mention in their post-match reports (written with benefit of a TV replay).

Umm, if that was directed at me then you'll find I despise C. Ronaldo and bleed English blood 100%. I have shed tears when England are knocked out of tournaments. Just read my sig. Born there and very proud of it.
I'm an ardent fair play advocate and nothing annoys me more that getting a raw deal in sport. DIVING IS CHEATING AND EDUARDO DIVED THEREFORE CHEATED. The Celtic guy got caught, and booked. Fair enough there. Eduardo got away with it, scored directly from it, got punished fairly then got off with nothing at all. How does that compare?

Its no longer a problem.

Following examination of all the evidence, notably the declarations of both the referee and the referees' assessor, as well as the various video footage, it was not established to the panel's satisfaction that the referee had been deceived in taking his decision on the penalty.

Because UEFA had no official parameters to deal with the incident, had not deal with it with any degree of consistency prior to the incident, and indicated it would not treat similar incidents in the future with any degree of consistency.
Therefore Eduardo's initial punishment was not only heavy-handed, but also on very shaky administrative and legal ground. They bowed to the media pressure, then thought about the second time, and thought better of it.

Oh? Never seen a thread on here entitled 'Gerrard Dive' 'Torres Dive' 'Rooney Dive' or 'Ronaldo Dive' to name a few perpetrators.

And the Adebayor thread is a shocker which was rightly locked.

Three for me, and two for them.

Lots of peoples dive in the Champions League. While I hate it, it's probably fair enough that Eduardo didn't get banned because those rules aren't really in place. UEFA need to follow the lead of the SFA.
