Moyes would have to sell A.J for that to happen, just to help balance the books a bit I mean 16million plus pounds for Moutinho, plus we may sign Manny Fernandes who would cost around 6-8 million and 3 others.the board have made murmurs that there is no money, until the fate of the new stadium is decided.

i get frustrated with  all the media speculation, but  we tend to (quite rightly) do most of our transfer business outside of the media spotlight.

so in Moyes i trust

Transfer activity very disappointing so far. I have some grave concerns for the upcoming season, although we always seem to do most of our activity in August anyway.

our current squad looks like this  note also new shirt numbers, Mikel Arteta now wears #10 Jag's is now #6 .
we'd have to have the smallest  squad in the premiership, when you look at all the younger guys filling up the spots realistically there's only 17 you'd pick from the 21, that, plus tony hibbert, tim cahill, james vaughan & leighton baines are currently injured it makes the picture  look even worse

The current full squad numbers list is:

2. Tony Hibbert
3. Leighton Baines
4. Joseph Yobo
5. Joleon Lescott
6. Phil Jagielka
7. Andy van der Meyde
8. Andrew Johnson
10. Mikel Arteta
12. Iain Turner
14. James Vaughan
17. Tim Cahill
18. Phil Neville
19. Nuno Valente
20. Steven Pienaar
21. Leon Osman
22. Yakubu
24. Tim Howard
26. Jack Rodwell
28. Victor Anichebe
30. John Ruddy
32. Dan Gosling

We need signings quickly and lots of them.  To be able to compete in the league let alone the domesitc cups and UEFA.

AJ off to Fulham for 12mil squid. No surprise given recent events.
We really need to make some signings soon. Mounthino bid has been rejected by Sporting Lisbon. 15mill euros apparently.
In Moysey we trust but he'd better hurry and make some signings. Everyone else is.

Scored 4 this morning against Norwich.

We'd have him back in Suffolk if others give him no love.

Keith Wyness has resigned as CEO and Club Director.

wonder why that is,we certainly don't need boardroom dramas at the start of the season

don't sound like to many people are upset at him going, the kirkby thing has driven a bit of a wedge between those fans who agree we need a new stadium and the others that agree we need a stadium just not outside of liverpool city

I too have concerns about the lack of transfer activity but I think "watch this space" is an appropriate comment. In Moyes we trust and he knows we need 4-5 new faces at least. Spurs seem to be doing a lot of spending and we need to at least match that.

Yeah, It looks bleak, real bleak!!

BUT

This time a few seasons ago things were even worse, remember. Rooney was about to leave to be replaced by Marcus bent. No money but what happend? We came 4th!! Im gonna put some money on us to win the league

Yeah i remember, i also remember we got 21 million pounds for Rooney, which o.k we didn't spend so well  i.e per kouldrop and andy van der meyde, but now by the sounds of it the only funds we will have are the funds generated from A.J's sale to Fulham, but theres been indications that A.J has failed his medical, which means the deal either, wont go through or will be done at a smaller fee.

on a positive note, that young boy Jose Baxter sounds the goods, he's having a great pre- season with the 1st team, been involved in most of the pre season games and playing quite a role in setting up and scoring goals.
One for the future eh

oh don't get me wrong, signing new players is also high on the agenda and an absolute must if we want to be in the final of every cup comp we're in this year. There's going to be 60 plus games for the boys this season and 15 first team players can't be expected to play all of those.

But only 10m up front and it was on the last day of the transfer season so we were up sh*t creek!
Your right about that baxter lad. Jose, what a good scouse name!

Sounds like you guys are gonna blow your AJ money, on ..... Alan Smith
Permalink Permalink
over 17 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Wouldn't say blow it all,2 miilion pounds isn't bad sort of money, especially someone with his premier league experience,we're in need cover and he can play up front and in the mid's,plus he's a bit of a nutter,we need one of those too.

A.J was great for us,shame money woes meant we had to sell him.

We'll be alright without him...I hope.

Teams are built on strong defences and we got an awesome one.

Might be worth getting excited about who you guys are trying to replace AJ with, Vagner Love. Pretty good record, guess there would be the normal questions of how well South Americans adapt to the english game, tho on the plus side he has been up in Moscow for a few years.

Just when things couldn't get any worse in preseason, Peanut (Steven Pienaar) has broken a bone in his foot and is out for 7 weeks.

Things are looking really bad at the moment. Hopefully the next week reveals just how good a manager Moyse is and a few names start to sign.
What exactly is so bad about playing for a regular top 6 Premeir League team? Great fan base, new stadium on the horizon, top class manager, great squad (juat a little light in number) and a top class youth policy that has had some amazing players come through it (Rooney, Dunne, Osman, Baxter, Vaughan, Anichebe to name a few).
I'm struggling for answers in our recruitment failures.

Its no longer a problem.

Wagner love would be a great deal if you got him, even if it is only on loan for the first season.
