According to the gooners we have signed Senderos. Good surprise i think.
Yes but you got to think why you may have signed him, Opens up for Senderos in and Lescott out?

That thought did cross my mind but I decided to be postive Fingers crossed Lescott stays.

Defender Joleon Lescott, who is being targeted by Manchester City, tells Everton he wants to leave but is yet to hand in an official transfer request, BBC Sport understands. -Headline on the BBC football site

Thought crossing your mind to reality it looks least youll cash in if he goes to Citeh

As a Kiwi (sort of) Everton fan I am actually a bit embarrased by this idea. Hopefully it comes off ok and respect is given both ways.
On a brighter note, Senderos sounds promising. Hopefully it isn't to replace Lescott and is just cover at the back.

Its no longer a problem.

If the shirt was all black i could nearly forgive it as i understand the link, but black with pink pinstripes...  C'mon, really...? If it is celebrating the shirt they wore when they were called the Black Watch then it should bloody well have a highland tartan themed kit. UberGunner2009-08-05 10:23:13

I hate to say it but I agree with Uber. Other than the (almost) all black kit, what link is there. Maybe they're playing on link to the Lincoln academy in Chch that their running.
Still think it's a bad idea :-(

Its no longer a problem.

I just don't see the correlation in the two and cringe a bit tbh

Wasn't the Black Watch kit black with a red sash, much like the Essendon AFL jumper?

From what I've found, yes it was. And the shorts were white as well.

Its no longer a problem.

Just saw the "Everton Haka" on the official Everton website. They used the "Grand Old Team to Play for" words and made a Haka out of it. Pretty awful to be fair. I like the kit though.
Everton denying Lescott deal for 22 mill pounds.

The Spice Girls and an Italian car company have already done it - now an English football giant has ripped off the haka.

English Premier League club Everton commissioned a team of Maori dancers to perform the "Everton haka" at the official launch of its new away uniform in Liverpool this week. Fans had earlier been invited to write a six-line verse for the haka.

The playing strip created by French clothing company Le Coq Sportif and Everton's retail partner has a "dynamic new All Black look", the club's website says.

It is black with "pink lightning horizontal stripes".

Overseas renditions of the haka have repeatedly sparked controversy. Ngati Toa fought for years to trademark Ka Mate the version made famous by the All Blacks to protect it from inappropriate use.

In 2006, the Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand refused its application.

But in February this year, the Government announced a deal with Ngati Toa that recognised the iwi's authorship of Ka Mate.

Spokesman Te Ariki Wi Neera said yesterday that the Everton haka had nothing to do with Ngati Toa because it was not Ka Mate.

"They've made something up ... It's surprising because they have a massive amount of their own tradition and history to draw on."

He added: "The haka is very dramatic and gets attention. You can see why people use it."

Otago University physical education professor Steve Jackson, an expert on haka controversies, said the latest performance was likely to offend many Maori.

It was clearly being used for commercial purposes, promoting Le Coq Sportif clothing and a non-New Zealand team.

"They've probably taken it about as far as you can go.

"There's just this push to find anything extreme these days to get our attention, because we're just bombarded with advertising."

Wait till the Cultural PC brigade see this on the net and in the paper. There'll have to be "financial compensation" of course. It fixes all problems.

I dunno about the cultural PC brigade but the whole thing just looks awkward.

My first thought was along the lines of the article - Everton is a great club with so much tradition and it's own culture/history.  So it must really be a marketing hype/ploy to try and be a bit different.

My second thought was "OI! Everton, No!"

Football emulating the AB's .. FFS next it will be gridiron or league or something else.

Does that mean the the Toffees are going to choke in semi- or quarter- finals (particularly against French teams)?

I wouldn't mind the Haka if the words were better and the performance was sound but that display was really embarrassing, clumsy and not thought out carefully. I mean what did they do other than slap their chest a few times in the same way and poke the tongue out? There was nothing in it. Really terrible. We see little kids can do a better job every saturday before rugby.

Lescott's formal transfer request rejected by EFC, he has to go now really doesn't he otherwise we'll be stuck with a publicly unhappy player can't be doing the team morale any good either.

JL would be foolish to underperform out of spite for Everton, if he stays, as he'd jepodise his England spot. I still hope he stays. With The Jag out still we a bit light at the back. Especially with a total of ZERO new first team signings (I don't count Jo as a new signing).
In Moyse we trust but I am concerned, just like last season :-)

Its no longer a problem.

Um, you mean like Bent at Spurs and most of the first team at Newcastle?

Nah, see we have really good morale at the moment within the team that's why we do so well with a small squad this saga will only ruin it,  Newcastle well the morale left that team about 3 years ago

I was about the Obafemi Martins transfer after all

best bit in todays game
was the genuine Scouse crowd swearing

especially the Arse corner 36 mins in

listen to some cat get up Baines after Sagna went around him.

Games like that gappen, we got tonked at Leeds a few years back, We went ahead after 2 mins, they had Brian Deane playing. We were all over them. They had 6 shots and scored from each one. f**k it!

Watch the game or at least read the stats before jumping to assumptions.

if it had of been 10 there still could have been no moaning about it
Arshavin had two called for (dubious) offside as well I reckon.
