Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Strong Everton squad to tour Australia June 7, 2010 - 11:49AM

AAP

Everton have named a strong squad to tour Australia next month as part of their English Premier League pre-season campaign.

The squad announced on Monday is missing only the club's World Cup stars, with the exception of Socceroos midfielder Tim Cahill who is aiming to play in friendlies against Sydney FC and Melbourne Heart.

Those absent will include South African midfielder Steven Pienaar, American goalkeeper Tim Howard, Nigerian duo Yakubu and Joseph Yobo as well as Dutch defender John Heitinga.

But the squad will feature many of Everton's best players including Louis Saha, Mikael Arteta, Diniyar Bilyaletdinov and captain Phil Neville.

Belgian international midfielder Marouane Fellaini, who spent most of the last season out with a serious ankle injury, is also named and hoping to make his comeback in Australia.

Cahill said he was looking forward to the tour, although his immediate focus was obviously on Australia's job ahead in South Africa.

"I am totally focussed on Australia and our World Cup journey," Cahill said.

"But it's a dream for me that my club, Everton, is visiting my country as part of the pre-season preparations for the next (English) Premier League season. It's massive.

"It's non-stop football and it's great for fans, and great for the A-League too."

Everton will meet Sydney FC at ANZ Stadium on July 10 before meeting newcomers Melbourne Heart at Etihad Stadium on July 14 and Brisbane Roar on July 17 at Suncorp Stadium.

Everton squad

Goalkeepers: Iain Turner, John Ruddy

Defenders: Leighton Baines, Phil Jagielka, Seamus Coleman, Shkodran Mustafi, Sylvain Distin, Tony Hibbert.

Midfielders: Adam Forshaw, Diniyar Bilyaletdinov, Jack Rodwell, James Wallace, Leon Osman, Marouane Fellaini, Mikel Arteta, Philip Neville, Tim Cahill

Strikers: James Vaughan, Jermaine Bedford, Jose Baxter, Kieran Agard, Louis Saha, Lukas Jutkiewicz, Victor Anichebe.

yeah nah  he'd be my 2nd choice though, we need some flair no disrespect to Tim of course but someone with a fm10 flair count of about 18, 19 or 20  not 11, 12, 13

It's tough with nothing to do.

Conveniently though, as the World Cup winds down, the Tour de France fires up.

Huge wins over Sydney (1-0) and Heart (2-0 with a missed pen by Saha). solid preseason but hopefully things will pick up when the etire squad is together.
New home kit is out and is very nice. Mine arrives in a few weeks. Not too sure about the away kit though.

Its no longer a problem.

Top effort Kiwi Pie. How was it?
I've been lucky enough to see the boys 4 times now :-) 3 times at Goodison and once at Mt Smart in Auckland (this is when I started supporting them). Always a buzz to see them live.

Its no longer a problem.

Was great. They played Z Cars and Grand Old Team as well, which was a nice touch. The standard of footy was what you'd expect for the occasion (not terrible, not amazing) and Arteta didn't play, which was a shame, but it was great.

Plus we beat H***t 2 zip! result!

The Mt. Smart game was one of the worst games I have ever seen from an English touring team.

It could have been any Brit. side. I was not being anti Everton, I was just stating a fact.
