Hull City thread

Yes I read this article and posted it on the Hull City boards.
I fear they are not wrong as we have failed to impress in the pre season games.
They have a week to 'gel' together which is not much time, and we still have to secure a striker of sorts from somewhere.
As another poster wrote, we have arrived too early and are ill-prepared for top level football. The attitude by the Management appears to be acceptance of the fact that we cannot attract 'quality' players under the current financial infrastructure so they are prepared for relegation in the knowledge that the coffers will be swollen through 'parachute' payments enabling them to build for a more successful attempt in the future.

Do you recon someone like Killen consider Hull as an option. I'm pretty sure he's on his way out of Celtic. He has international and some SPL experience. Wouldn't cost too much and would be around for a few years to come. Just a thought.

Its no longer a problem.

not sure about Killen Toffeeman, but we've been linked with a few strikers and we do need someone

latest rumours

claudio pizzaro from Chelsea (but wages a big issue), Nugent  -again,

and apparently Marlon King might now be a loan option (but that would snuffout any  small possibility of getting Frazier C back)

Bikey from Reading (since we missed Miete, who went to WBA)

We are starting with new tactics for the Premier League a hitherto untried formation of 5-5 with no striker (because we haven't got one).
Our situation is deplorable and there is no solution.
King is reported to be coming in on loan until January which will give him time to sort out his contractual obligations with Wigan and then signed full time. You would have to ask what happens if he does not perform duing this period. We would no doubt be odds-on for relegation and wouldn't want to carry a 30 grand per week non performer into the CCC.
We have learned a lesson for our excursion into the Premier League. Without a billionaire backer, owning your own stadium and an up-market advertising manager capable of lifting Hull City's profile to that of one that can attract 'quality' Premier-League-Standard players then you will go tumbling back down to your previous level.

OZ T

got marlon king on season long loan so we can play  4-5-1 now;

hopefully that's the formation (not his anticipated bookings, appearances and goals)

looks like we are about to move Gardner from 6 month loan to a signing for 2.5 mill

Gven that logic said that last season should have been mid-table at best, perhaps this season (although logic says we'll drop) we might just scrape 17th

where there is life there is hope Oz T

On top of that Fulham are without their record 11 million quid striker Andy Johnson who is injured. I was told that West Ham were putting together a 13 million quid offer for Johnson but backed out because of a recurrent injury problem Johnson was having. Looks like they were right. Fulham still have Zamora though, who, imo will be too good for our defence.
I have predicted a 3-0 win to Fulham.

Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Great result lads, well done also on being the only promoted side to get a result on opening day, let alone a win, and a come from behind win at that. Well done.

Three for me, and two for them.

cheers Buffy,

Boateng is to be assesed on thursday for the blackburn game

from city independent site >>

The midfield star who had to be carried from the field of play in the last few minutes of the match - leaving City with 10 men to see out the game - reportedly needed to be administered oxygen to recover after playing Fulham.

On Boateng's fitness Brown revealed - "He didn't train yesterday. He'll be with the physiotherapist for the next few days. We'll assess the situation on Thursday where George is concerned."

Adding - "It's his thigh mainly but this is a guy who almost went off in a neck brace and then collapsed needing oxygen in the changing room. That's testimony to the player and that typified the performance of the whole team. He's reported in with a thigh strain, but that's not the only little niggle he's got."

a bit more transfer goss - from the daily mail (perhaps not the highest credibility factor)

maierhoffer - must b a fairly good chef because whatever he's cooked has caused him to grow an inch (in height) since the first reports of city's interest in him

>>>Brown, who will move with a 5million offer for Fraizer Campbell when Manchester United finally land Dimitar Berbatov, had weighed up an offer for Valencia's Nikola Zigic but the deal was looking too expensive despite talk of a possible loan.

Now he has made an approach for trained chef Maierhofer who scored seven goals in 11 games last season and earned a call-up to the Austria squad ahead of the European Championships. <<

CMON Fraizer, you know you want to!!

thoughts/hopes/predictions for this weekend? Im hoping Ince gives Villanueva some game time, he aparently looked very good in a closed doors game during the week.

Sadly doesnt seem to be live coverage with sky, only a delayed replay at 6am on Skysports 3 on Sunday

Hey RR, noted the coverage - better than City have got for most of the last 104 years   (apart from the live FA Cup match v Vila about 3 years ago and the delayed playoff coverage)

Boateng should be on the park for us, I'd be delighted with a point, I expect both teams will contest in midfield, your strikers worry me and Gamst from set pieces

hopefully Geovanni will cause you problems, and Turner/Gardner  from corners

what do you make of the 'dressing room unrest' rumours for your lot?

Im sure Ryan will keep a close eye on him

Pederson will be a big threat hopefully, esp now he has changed the name on the back of his shirt back, was horrible as Gamst, great as Pederson. No replacement for Bentley yet *fingers crossed for Joaquin*, so alot will depend on him, and Dunn in the middle.

Dunno what to make of the 'unrest' new manager, different style of training from Hughes, Bentley wanting away (faked an injury to avoid the pre-season tour is the rumour) for sure cant have made it an easy start, but if they keep playing well, and winning, things will right themselves.

The fans seem to be a bit mixed on his appointment, selling Friedel as his first action was a big risk, along with his desire to sign Andrews from MK Dons. A bad run of results could cause problems with the team & fans, guess there is no other option than for them to keep winning sadly for you guys.

Im gonna go for 3-0 to us, Santa Cruz double & stunner from Villanueva.

It's amazing that you guys have such a large and passionate thread about the Tigers. Must say that after reading it last season i took a vested interest in your promotion campaign - and now am quite interested in your results. Smiled to myself when i read the reports on the win over fulham - good luck against blackburn boys, it is on the box after my beloved arsenal tonight so will definitely keep the eyes open for another cupla hours...

Yep PaulM, The tigers seem to have captured a few people's interest, and people on this thread have been great in popping in with wise, fair and encouraging comments - which always makes it interesting for this tigers fan to read and post (and post , and post ).

The 104 year story has caught a few people's attention i reckon, and having the mad man Deano back makes for interesting stories.

I just hope we stay up, I almost certainly can't afford to go back for a look this season, but in a season or two might be able to .

I'll not watch online tonight - it's a bit grim in the quite and dark - especially with no commnetary - but the Sky coverage will be great to see - hoepfully we'll make a game of it!

i'm 'optimistically going for 1-1, but I don't think I'd put the house on it

perhaps your new beverley-born keeper might just be overcome by sentiment for East Yorkshire  and commit one of his frequent howlers whilst wiping an emotional trear from his eye - or not

andrews must have been on Wolves books when Ince was there and might have further 'impressed ' him at MKD - i rated him as a championship player - but lots of hull fans had their doubts -even at that level

good luck for all but two matches this season

I was wrong with my 0-3 forecast against Fulham and was very impressed by the tenacity shown by our blokes and could hardly believe Fulham's pathetic performance in the second half.
However, Blackburn appear to be a different prospect under Paul Ince and I would expect them to fulfill my prediction of a 3-0 win. There is still hope that Fraizer Campbell could yet wear a Black & Amber stripe shirt in the near future. Caleb Folan appears to be getting his left leg to move in the general direction of his right leg when running for the ball but is still performing a commendable impression of a Swiss Army Knife when in full flight.
The shocks may continue.

Oz if you keep predicting 3-0 losses and we keep getting 2-1 wins, it will be a great season

this one has to be harder and I'd take a draw faster than Shinawatra can take the money and run

hopefully The Boat will be on the pitch, be interesting to see this on TV (it's delayed coverage here)

yeah, the rumours of FC's return seem to be growing - yes please!!

(we may have a lot to thank Shay Given for, if fraizer does come 'home')

I think you'll roll Newcastle to be honest. Might get a thumping at the Arse, unless they play like they did against Fulham. And a draw against Everton.
