yep, apparently Horton coached him (Gardner) at a previous club

source - somewhere off the web  According to reports, newly-promoted Hull City are going to break their club transfer record, by bringing Turkish International Colin Kazim-Richards to the KC Stadium next season.

Promoted through the play-offs at Wembley in May, the Tigers are hoping to land the transfer of Kazim-Richards, for a fee believed to be in the region of 2million.

Hull have just had a similar bid turned down by Championship side Plymouth Argyle for Hungarian winger Peter Halmosi, and could go back with a revised offer, with Plymouth valuing Halmosi at 3million.

21-year-old Kazim-Richards, currently preparing to face Portugal at EURO 2008, made 27 appearances for Sheffield United in the Premier League before moving to Turkish side Fenerbache last summer, and has tasted Champions League football, scoring his first goal for them against Chelsea.

Hull manager Phil Brown is also interested in Tottenham Hotspur defender Anthony Gardner, the 27-year-old is expected to be part of Spurs boss Juande Ramoss summer clearout, and has fallen down the pecking order at White Hart Lane.

"There's interest from us," Brown told the Hull Daily Mail.

"The lad's got a proven Premier League pedigree and is available at the right transfer fee.

"How far we take the interest will be decided more than anything on if he wants to come up here. But we have made it clear to him and his club that we are interested

But wait there's more ...apparently we've agreed a 750 K fee for Fagan - i don't know whether to laugh or cry -i hope it's not indicative of the targets we are after!

So an exciting relegation battle! Still worth the season tickets and cheering.

Consider the comparison with top ten clubs signings....for example Spurs, Man City let alone top four. Would Kazim Kazim turn out for Chelski third team?

Signing look like those for an aspiring Championship promotion campaign?!

you might be right Orpew (along with The Jam in the Stoke topic) and city might not avoid the drop,

but as you say the ride should be interesting

obviously we do have a small chance of staying up and that is what i'll hang onto for as long as possible

like you and TJ I'm underwhelmed by the players we are chasing - though Gardner could be the goods - if that can be believed of someone who's not quite goood enough for the spurs back four!

it looks a bit like city have decided not to risk financial ruin by splashing out on big money signings and hope that the lower level players gel into more than just the sum of their parts

whatever happens, today i'm still smiling from the play-offs

Sensible comments Tigers. I am not putting your club down. I think you might be a bit like Watford were a couple of seasons back with some good players developing well, some close games but not enough quality overall. I think not bankrupting the club is also a good approach.

If I were a Hull fan and living anywhere near the ground I would be rushing to get a season ticket!

i realise that you aren't niggling oprew, you col u lads have always been fair-minded and always good to have someone other than Toffeeman and Oztiger (fine chaps though they are ) to yak with

I'd have  a season ticket if i were in hull and i woud have every season

i do think that we can sneak survival but it really does depend on getting about 5 or 6 prem quality players in (i really don't think that Fagan is one of them, despite Brown's comments in the media)

re the the Jam's comment in the other thread i do think Brown is the goods though, he certainly produced a 'silk purse' last season

Yeah, Fagan was good when we had him on loan a couple of seasons back but he is a good Championship player not a Premier player.

kazim-richards would be a good signing, but they need to get a couple more premiership quality players, possibly someone with experience like barmby and okocha, but a bit younger and more fresh for the premiership.

looks like the UK press's desire to link us with every living Bolton player continues

Meite is (allegedly) in the frame now

"Goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi, Ivan Campo and Trotters old boy Bernard Mendy have already been linked with a summer switch to the KC Stadium and Ivory Coast international stopper Meite looks to be the next target. " clubcall.com

agree Messy, a bit of prem experience will be a must in our recruiting

BREAKING GOSSIP

Italian international Christian Vieri will quit Serie A to sign a 10,000 per week deal with Premier League new boys Hull City. (Daily Star 1230 BST)

Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

After El**ch's departure from the EPL the pie mountain in England has gotten out of hand so they've called in Vieri.

well vieri should feel at home among the pork pies, yorkshire puddings and haddock and chips

maybe the Nix should sign vieri and Eddie Baranowski can sort him out (maybe that's why El**ch did a runner wobbler)

Mmmmmm, Yorkshire Puddings. My mum makes the best Yorkshire pudding in the world. I'm proof of that

Stelios is also rumoured to be a Tigers target.

Its no longer a problem.

Vieri's just signed with another italian side and apparently we've missed out on Mendy

Villa are supposed to be after Campbell

Toffeeman, perhaps we need your mum to send her recipe to the catering staff at the club, to lure a few signings

Newly-promoted Hull City are closing in on a trio of international players, reports BBC Radio Humberside.

The Tigers have held talks with Brazilian international Geovanni, who left Manchester City recently.

City are also understood to be speaking to Dutch midfielder George Boateng about a move from Middlesbrough.

And their chances of signing Bernard Mendy have improved and they are set to beat Sampdoria and Werder Bremen to the French international's signature. <!-- E SF -->

Sources within the club have revealed that Tigers boss Phil Brown has flown to Holland to talk to Boateng with a view to signing him from Boro.

The talks to bring Geovanni and ex-Bolton player Mendy to the KC Stadium are at an advanced stage and they could both join the club at the pre-season training camp in the Italian Alps by the weekend.

yep, i agre SINZ, he did a good job for us in midfield (central or left) and he had 1 or 2 runs at both left back and ( i think) centre back

from what i've read he's got a good attitude and good enough skills for a championship side

City's new shirt is back to stripes!! - very cool

and from premiershiplatest.com

>>Hull City have a deal in place for former Manchester City and Barcelona attacker Geovanni, and have virtually agreed on signing France international defender Bernard Mendy.

According to reports, 28-year-old Brazil international Geovanni, who is released upon the expiry of his one-year deal at City, has agreed a two-year deal with the Tigers subject to a medical.

Assistant manager Brian Horton told BBC Radio Humberside: "He's got a very good track record so I think he'll be an excellent signing for us.

"We've heard a lot about him and spoken to quite a few people, but we saw him ourselves so we know the player."

Mendy, meanwhile, is expected to leave Paris St-Germain this summer to return to the Premiership. He had played for Bolton on loan in 2002-03.

Horton said: "He's on his way out here. He's not signed but it is virtually agreed so again he's a good acquisition.

"Phil Brown knows him well. He's played for big clubs and he wants to get back in the French national team - he thinks by playing in the Premier League he could fulfil that ambition."

apparently Emile Mpenza is also trialling with us over in Italy

Geovanni has definitely signed

a Boateng deal is in progress (at 32, he might be passed his prime but will bring experience to centre mid)

Mendy signed, (cheers WillyB, just read your post before getting to the City links) if he plays RB that would allow Ricketts to move to LB

looks like our next signing (after Boateng - hopefully) wil be a Centreback - with Spur's Ricardo Rocha and bolton's Abdoulaye Meite in the frame

then a striker - please!!! (needs a worried sick emoticon!)

come 'home' Fraizer - you know you want to

Really hope Campbell goes back to you guys, as a United fan first and foremost I'm really hoping he can make the 1st team for us and a successful season in the premiership would be just the ticket for that.

given that it took them a few years to work out the difference between a hoop and a stripe i'd say we were comfortable winners

cheers the Janner , i knew there was a plymouth fan (or may be more ?) on here and wondered if they could offer an opinion on Halmosi - certainly seems like the fans over there are less than impressed that you've let him go
