I have forecast a 2-0 win to Wigan.
We have been lucky so far but I am still very impressed with the way the guys are playing. However, Marlon King has yet to have a shot on goal (believe it or not!) and as much as I admire Deano I feel he will be well held at this level. Caleb's impersonation of a Swiss Army Knife when running is still a source of mirth but if he could find someone to work with (and work off) then he could still be formidable. Unfortunately he doesn't at this stage.

whew OzT, the day you forecast a city win or even a draw is the day we'll probably lose -  keep up the good work

all 'mirth' aside - this time round my genetically inherited Yorkshire pessimism is starting to put pressure on my early season euphoria

Palacios looked very useful v chelsea, and their Egyptian?  striker Ekru? has a decent pedigree by all acccounts

so all in all, i'd settle for a point to preserve our unbeaten start

then again, if there's a win on offer I'll be a very happy Tiger tomorrow

apparently Ballane those first two crying faces were down to silly errors and the last might not have crossed the line

but the reality is that my teams in both hemispheres were tonked

i just hope that the Tigers and the nix sort themselves out in the international break and that the tigers sign a few players in quick time!!!

City had Gardner, Boateng and King out (the spine of the team) but surviving prem clubs can cover absences like that

right you bastards (in both hemispheres) come out fighting!! in two weeks time!

desperate i know ..... but at least i can take 1/2 a gram of comfort from the fact I don't support Macclesfield (that might change by the end  of  the season any Mac's fans out there)

those poor buggers had to watch their lot ship 6 at home (they were only 1-0 down at half time so that last 45 might have been pretty nauseating)

nope, it didn't really work, i still feel like crap

off out for a bit of excercise, (not running in front of buses  - just yet )

CMON U 'ULL!! - f**kin get it sorted

Our problem is that we have a wound that needs major surgery and stitches. Instead we have had to use the only option available - band-aids!
We have been lucky in our first two games and our big challenge has been failure to attract anyone of note to form a Premiership Side. Our Goalie and Captain are from our League 2 days. The rest are CCC players at best with the exception of Geovanni and Boateng. A couple have raised their game and are holding their own but we have yet to play a side that can be considered a 'force' in the Premier League (Fulham, a decimated Blackburn and Wigan could only be considered lower PL) so what is going to happen against the top four and teams with 'top-half' status.
The bubble has well and truly burst for us and it will get harder!
"We're doomed I tell ye, DOOMED"!

Mc Shane and  Zayatte  -  soon to become household names!!

from Hull Daily Mail

>> HULL City have signed Guinea international defender Kamil Zayatte on a season-long loan deal from Young Boys Berne.

The 23-year-old can play at centre-back or right-back, and in a holding midfield position, enjoying a training spell with both Everton and Newcastle earlier this month.

Because he is a signing from outside of England, City were able to add the 6ft 3ins stopper to their two other loan players of Marlon King and Sunderland defender Paul McShane who completed his season-long loan move on yesterday.

missed out on Frazier campbell

got Danny Cousin from Rangers  - not so promising in the longer term (he's 31) - and apparently blows a bit hot a cold, but hopefully he'll be strong enough and canny enough to score a few

from soccernet

overview of City's transfer dealings over off-season

>>>In: Anthony Gardner, George Boateng, Geovanni, Daniel Cousin, Marlon King (loan), Peter Halmosi, Craig Fagan, Bernard Mendy, Paul McShane (loan), Tony Warner, Kamil Zayette (loan)
Out: Stuart Elliott, Henrik Pedersen, David Livermore, Michael Bridges (loan), Frank Belt, Brewster Frizzell
Spent: 9.9M
Received: 0
It seems a clear-cut case of quantity rather than quality. That, however, is harsh on George Boateng and Anthony Gardner, who acquitted themselves respectably on their initial outings. However, with both injured, it is a damning indictment of the other newcomers that 10 survivors of the Championship team started against Wigan. A 7 million bid for Frazier Campbell was an indication of ambition or desperation - or both - but the window closed with Hull's prime target at White Hart Lane, even though Daniel Cousin became Hull's third record signing of the summer. <<

what they don't acknowledge is that Zayette, Cousin and Mcshane hadn't signed in time for that game and King was 'loan-tied'

it does seem though that Halmosi hasn't set the house on fire and that Mendy might still be recovering from his efforts to single-handedly gift the pre-season win to Crewe

This serves to accentuate the fact that we are unable to attract 'quality' players because they either do not want to come or we cannot afford their wages.
This leaves us in a no-win situation.
The answer is a billionaire owner who can afford to buy the KC Stadium (and reap the benefits in gate receipts), expand it and make offers to 'quality' players that they cannot refuse.
A hard ask.
The point is though that we made it to the top flight but at this stage we are probably resigned to the fact that we do not have the financial infrastructure in place to keep us there.

and hopefully Boateng and Gardner back from injury

Cousin suspended following his sending off v Celtic, but we might hand a debut to Zayatte

i'll be happy with a point, three would be rather nice though

i can't see Barmby hitting 4  WillyB, but he does know where to be and where to put the ball for 65 of the 70 mins he's on the park

Halmosi seems not to have won over the coaching staff LG, he is still waiting for a chance to impress with Fagan/barmby/garcia winning the wide berths so far

Marlon King ( filling in for Barmby ) grabbed two

LG - you were on the mark with your Halmosi comment, he was brought down for the pen for our first (not sure how he played in general)

another 3 points (how good does it feel to write that !!!!!!)

Four games in and still in a European spot (Champions league no less). 1/4 of this competition is about confidence & form, and with those 2 ingredients going well for you I think i was right to pick Newcastle ahead of Hull in the relegation zone for this season. early days, but Ive got a feeling we'll be seeing you in the 2009/10 season.

cheers for the positive vibes y'all

oi Toffeeman!, wake up lad, i realise the blue part of your heart will be a bit despondent but the stripey bit must be in good form!

yep, a bit embarrassing Ballane - even with the change of shorts they looked pretty similar on screen

hope you are right Uber!, I might even be able to nip into the bencher this arvo (the young un might be otherwise engaged), if so i'll check out what the other 3/4's is about

(on second thoughts , don't tell me - whilst i think we have a good manager, and sensible upper management our playing staff and financial backers might not withstand scrutiny - i'll just keep on living in blissfull ignorance )

btw - LG , Halmosi also set up the second with a nice release from deep out to the right for King to cover 20 metres to the corner of the box and plant it in the far corner

I feel sorry for Fagan, so far performing much better with Hull than he did with Derby and Danny Guthrie ruthlessly goes and brakes his leg, i mean where did that come from? never saw anything like that from him in his Bolton days, lost all resepect for him now..

yeah Cambw, it's a bit of blow for the lad and the club

i wasn't that impressd when i heard we'd re-signed him, but he's really done well - he's a niggly little bugger and he works hard, his finishing isn't that great but as he showed v Fulham no defender (even a Prem one) is immune from messing things up if they are harried,

he gives us a contrasting style to Halmosi/Garcia/Barmby out wide or Geovanni/Folan in the middle

Guthrie will only get 4 weeks probably but Fagan gets 3 months. Total injustice in my eyes. That was on of the worst tackles I seen in a long time.

Col U fans are sorry about the news re Fagan.  We were fortunate to have him on loan a while back but couldnt afford to keep him!  Hope he recovers.  I see Guthrie has been honest and has apologised for the bad tackle which he admits was done in frustration...(no excuse though).

Guthrie only gets 3 weeks. Bl00dy criminal that is.
It'll be interesting to see if he has the balls to play in the return fixture at KC.
The prick should have got the same Fagan, 3 months on the sideline. I guess getting relegated with the Geordies is punishment enough.

Everton still have a few out - yobbo, hibbert , saha etc and possibly anichibe

we might give Cousin a start and Boateng might be back (reports vary on his progress)

shame it's not tonight, still it'll make it easier to get of bed on monaday a.m. - hopefully it'll be  a reasonable start to the week

i'll do a deal with you right now Toffeeman - a point each (fine print - in both games)

bit of a shame our first live coverage is in a game that we'll struggle to get owt from

at least the blackburn game got us something on the tele

if  we can do a stoke and lose the shot count something like 30 -2 but still walk away with a point shoved up our jumper I'll be delighted (and possibly in need of a very stiff drink at 6 am)

recording the EPL highlights, but by all accounts Cahill's was dodgy,

still, 8 points from 5 games will do me - CMON YOU 'ULL !!!!

just seen cahill's effort - perhaps ok - never mind as Brownie says to be dissapointed with only apoint from last season's 5th placed side shows a good attitude!

though as i said, I was ok with the idea of a point in the nervous hours before kick-off

i'm still sh*tting bricks about this season, i expect I'll relax if/when we are unsinkable

your at the right end of the table, even if it is only early in the season you have a foot in the door rather than playing catch up

as you've mentioned, i liked the attitude after the game,Phil brown said your boys were upset at only getting a draw, that's the spirit that'll help too keep you in this league
