that scoreline v Man U was disappointing but i thought we were reasonable for the first 82 minutes

shame the ref missed the elbow in the box and the lino missed that Nani was offside before their corner in 6th min

plusses - mendy when he came on and some decent work by Hunt, fagan, ghilas, Mendy in the 15-20 mins before rooney got his second

i've felt worse after losses

CMON lads!! everything on the table v Wolves (Mendy must be worth the chance of a start)

Got to disagree with you on Mendy mate.
Bernard feels that it is his God-given right to show the crowd what he can do rather than get the ball to a team-mate with a deft first touch (which he is capable off). If you watch the replay just notice how every time he gets the ball he has to take it to an opponent and try to beat him - whilst other players are running into positions.
He's not a team player in my book.
Also disappointed with Phil Browns substitutions and tactics. We went on to the pitch with no intention of trying to score using a 4-5-0 tactic and when Man U were leaving themselves open at the back with their constant pressure we swap three midfielders and leave our only recognized striker on the bench.
Odd!

a bit more attacking but not really paid off 4-4-2 with altidore and JVoH up top
 and Cairney given a run

not sure that a home point v wolves is survival form

Jimmy, wherefore art thou Jimmy?

caught the last 10 mins at the Bencher - ubergunner and i quite satisified with the outcome

just watchedd the recording - certainly worth a point

a great boost and a nudge closer to survival

Cairney is one to watch and Altidore is proving more influential these days (not sure about his confidence when he gets a scoring chance though)

Zaki looked keen and Hunt ran his bollocks off and show some nice touches (relieved we've hung on to him)

oh for mid-table obscurity!!

just listening to a PB interview and realised that for every one of the last 7 seasons (let's include ths one) we've either been promoted or in a relegation fight

but if mid table were offered in the champioship I'd take another relegation battle in the prem next season

superb winner of the Boat's screamer and good to see altidore score his 1st league goal

Muokolo and Gardiner working well together and Cairney rarely wastes a pass

crdeit also to Hunt - he's a maniac and no slouch with the ball at his feet

ok - recovered from disappointment at Blackburn - Nix have helped ease the pain

Boat's card must have been dodgy!  no suspension so he's available for west ham match

jimmy!!  probly back v everton on 7th march - we've got no game in the weekend after west ham due to villa in cup final

work on monday could be ugly with 2 West ham fans at the place

Hunt had an off day, Altidore looked better than Zaki when he came on

Gardner's injury is a worry

Bullard should be back v Everton so a glimmer of  hope there!

One hell of a start for us. For some reason my recording skipped the first 1minute 15 sec, but before we scored in 2min.11sec I had seen three shots at goal.

As important for you as it was for us. As the commentators said, we have some reasonable games at home to come but all the top teams away starting with Man U, Chelsea and Arsenal in the next 10 days.

Chuckled at the "That's why you're going down" chant at the end, but I'm sure the fans would have only just finished looking at the league table and seen we were only one point off the bottom three before today.
A bit like YF singing "your sh*t and you know you are" to Sydney and Melbourne.

Jimmy B got through 75 mins in a behind closed doors friendly v doncaster

and scored for the reserves before that

C'mon Jimmy - save our arse!!

If ever a team was over reliant on one player it is sadly City this season. Our form seems to coincide far to much with Jimmy being fit. And in turn that is sadly not very often

Its no longer a problem.

to be fair the Boat and Cairney did the job v Chels and Man Citeh , but yeah we Do look a whole lot better with Jimmy (no you see him, now you don't ) Bullard

should have Dawson, Hunt and Fagan back for the weekend

and looks like Bullard has come out of the Everton match ok (well, apart from the result -that is)

Lol, I'm stoked and gutted both at the same time. I can't see Hull surviving now but can see Everton pushing very hard for Europe next season.

Its no longer a problem.

haven't watched the recording yet, but i hear we suffered a few poor reffing decisions
shame we couldn't hold on

You had one of the more generous offside decisions go your way that led to the penalty (your one shot on target all game mind). I don't think you can really complain about decisions going against you.

Permalink Permalink
about 16 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
poor reffing was good for Hull
in fact it is what kept them in the game
Boateng could of got a straight red
the left back (Dawson?) put in a real Barry Crocker on Deni
and it was never a penalty but was well offside.

it's not all doom and gloom for Hull though, chin up and all that. Survival is still possible, and it's arguable Portsmouth and Burnley are gone.

Most of our supporters have a "persecution complex" when it comes to referee's and their decisions. The penalty (which wasn't) was OK to be given but everything else was wrong. Sol Campbell's tackle was heavy but legal - he got the ball first!
We dropped the proverbial b*ll*ck when Boaz parried the ball instead of holding it and Bendtner was on hand to grab three points for the Gunners.
We have no complaints but find ourselves 3 points adrift of Wolves and we have to finish 1 point above them to survive.
Hard ask!

PHIL BROWN SACKED!
Permalink Permalink
about 16 years ago · edited over 13 years ago

Now that Brown's gone I can try and like Hull again.  He was a right numpty.  After his weird singing gig at the end of season survival he shoulda been given 10 games max to sort out the squad.  Sacked in early Dec at the latest and Hull coulda been in with a shout to survive.  Highly unlikely survival now.

How old is Leggy?  Is he 12 or 72?

Yeah glad to see he's gone, hopefully you guys can sort yourselves out now.

I can see that Arsenal supporters have very little time for Phil Brown, but i do appreciate the thoughts about an improvement

i wonder who we'll get?

hoping it's not Megson

We have to pay Bolton a million pounds as he too is on "Gardening Leave" which means he is still being paid by Bolton which we would have to take over.
I cannot see us affording that amount of money.
O'Leary has come into the equation but Dowie looks pretty hot at the moment.
Steve Coppell an outside chance.

Hughes could take the job for 9 games but i doubt it.
Shearer was put into the same boat with Newcastle last season and I don't think he'd want to do it again with us.

Phil Brown has a new business up and running by the way:

Good luck with the rest of the season.  Shearer had a hospital pass with the toon last season.

It's not a nice way to end the season, but your governance can't be as inept as the Toon's ...surely?
