When i found these clips I thought it'd be a good piss take, but then you look at the players for both teams and my God we were privileged to see such stars in action. Mariner, Gates, Burley, Beattie, Mills to name but 5.

oh god, the hair, the shorts, the goals!!! Fab LG, just fab.

Yet somehow we finished 3rd, five points behind them...

But no one can take 6-0 away from ya!  

I just loved that era of Ipswich football! Although I will always be a ColU fan, during those glory years of Ipswich football I used to watch quite a few of their home games if ColU were too far away on away fixtures.

Beattie was a fearsome sight in those days! Gates I always thought was under rated - he was actually a very gifted footballer and exciting to watch.
Burley was of course the good looking one! Made my girlfriends swoon (damn it!).

Pass back, pick it up, put it down, dribble out, pick it up. The good old days for goalkeepers. The Manure keeper even hand no gloves on. Classic.

Alan Brazil with that BIG birdsnest hairstyle!  Didn't Kevin Beattie once score a 60 yarder against Leeds??
