Guardian are claiming we've just signed Luke Young from Villa for 2.75. That came out of the blue... Luke Young

Would like to see Pacheco get some regular action this season, if that means he has to be loaned out then maybe to a Premier League team so we can see if he can adapt to the "Premier League style" and mostly for selfish reasons because Real Sociedad aren't shown much on tv.

Luke young? Oh dear. I really do not rate him at all. Maybe roy can get something out of him...........

Sounds like there's some trouble with personal terms which is good. Not sure I really want Young. We can do better...

Skrtel played just as much as Gerrard & Johnson, don't really get why all the England boys are rested. Agger played more minutes than Carragher and Cole too... But anyway

Nice win this morning lads. The youngsters stepped up and some good play from the experienced guys too. Lucas, Agger etc.

Pacheco is awesome. Worth a throw into the first team more often, I think. He's good enough. Helped destroy England the other day. Drenthe is rubbish- even if it was semi-true. Young is terrible. Good win this morning. Well-taken goals from Ngog. Can't be unhappy at that. Don't think we need the seniors for the next game at all. Goood stuff.

Looking like we might be keen on poulsen. What is with our latest fetish with wanting to sign players over 30? Not exactly planning for the future!!

Scott Parker is supposedly someone Roy wants to come in to replace Mascherano. �8m for Parker seems ok, although he has had injury worries and is almost 30 so not going to get too many years out of him.

Still up after watching Lewis Hamilton crap out of the F1, so watched a bit of the end of the 'Gladbach game. Obviously another disappointing result 1-0 defeat, but yeah only pre-season with again plenty of youngsters and reserves.

A few points though:
Aurelio straight back into action after signing.
Raheem Steerling and Fernandez Suso both getting a little run both are 15 and suppose to be huge prospects, the former in particular playing for QPR (not sure if he actually played championship football at 15).
JonJo Shelvey playing plenty of minutes.
Didn't see Joe Cole play.
Wilson looked quite good, positioning was good,  composed on the ball. Although he played a made a horrible pass that almost led to a goal linds2010-08-02 02:38:42

Not fussed about the result. Half those guys haven't played for a few weeks so just getting some minutes was good.

I think you're right about the kids, Linds. I have to say I'm extra pleased with some of the youth coming through. With some of the old heads hitting their thirties having these youngsters like Shelvey, Pacheco, Wilson, Spearing etc coming through and learning from the seniors is grea for the club. Hopefully over the next year or two they can really boost the ranks. Some encouraging prospects for the future at any rate.

I see Steven Defour's (Standard Liege) name has been battered around a bit lately with the imminent departure of Masch. He looks an interesting prospect. Not sure I'm in the Poulsen camp... Too old.

Widespread reports in the English press suggest Chinese billionaire Kenny Huang is in negotiations to take charge of Liverpool.

Kenny Huang is said to be on the brink of a hostile takeover. Huang, the chief executive of Chinese sports investment company QSL, is said to have lodged a bid to the Royal Bank of Scotland, which would leave the current owners, Tom Hicks and George Gillett, without profit.

Hicks and Gillett are said to be looking for �600 million but - following the refinancing deal put in place earlier this year - RBS is able to take control of the sale if it feels it will offer the best chance of repaying its loan. Huang has apparently made a direct offer to repay the �237 million debt.

The Daily Telegraph claims that, as a result of Huang's valuation, Gillett has told the RBS he is in advanced negotiations with Syrian businessman Yahya Kirdi to delay the sale.

Hicks and Gillett put Liverpool up for sale in April but there has so far been little prospect of a deal being completed. A New York-based equity firm earlier made an attempt to purchase a 40% stake, but the bid was dismissed by the duo.

Hicks and Gillett purchased Liverpool for a reported �219 million in 2007 and, speaking in April, Hicks said: "Liverpool will be the most profitable investment I have ever made. I should make four times my money."

The Independent says Fernando Torres "was briefed on the approach some time ago and will be encouraged, on his return to Melwood, to await the outcome of discussions between the tycoon and Royal Bank of Scotland". Torres is keen to see further investment at Anfield.

apparently not dealing with rbs but barclays capital, wants the deal sealed in two weeks so woy can have time to invest in the squad.
i would imagine that if there are no other acceptable offers then rbs will be able to more or less make
the yanks sell up

Good news with Nando coming out and confirming he's staying (not that it was ever in doubt)

Hicks backed out of the buy outs as he wasn't getting his dollars worth so he put Rangers in administration (or something to that effect). Heaps of pressure on RBS though. Happy that Insua is staying. Think he's a good player with plenty of potential.

Lots of reports coming out that Kenny has already brought in the prem league execs giving 10 days notice of intent to buy too.

Can't deny that those phrases are milk and honey to the ears and if these guys are as big as the reports say they are and given how big Liverpool is in Asia then hope it comes to fruition. I just hope that it's first things first and we get a new damn stadium underway and some investment in the club before we go gallivanting around the world.

I hope like f*ck that this goes through. That said, I also hope like f*ck that the good name of Liverpool FC doesn't get known as a club sucked dry by it's yank owners, that then turned into a Chelsea/ManC type "buy them whatever the cost" type club.

Either way get those greedy c*nts out and deal with the consequences from the latter should it happen
