Doesn't matter who is in charge unless there is drastic changes to the squad. Suarez and Carroll so far seem a good start, but there is still a lot of gash we need to clear out.

On a positive note now we don't have to watch any more of those woeful Europa league games. The last four have been exceptionally terrible.

On another positive we probably wont have any European football at all next season.

So we paid 35 mil for a striker to do a job that the greek could have done for us? The amount of long balls in that game was shocking! And every time Joe Cole plays the club pays!

Quality wide players who can whip a decent cross in are a must if Carroll is even going to be close to successful.

Bit of controversy around the penalty, ref had it right first and then lino said it was inside the box. Anyway, was great work from Spearing, he had a decent game.

Was called into work so missed the game but know the result obviously. With Spurs dropping 2 points , this was an important game to win. From what I've read , Suarez
To TheKop , if going to Anfield doesn't send shivers where shivers don't usually go , then there's something wrong. While I still can , my major life ambition is to get my little boy there.

Not fussed about the penalty decision, I still remember a certain beach ball in times past...

Oh and give Kenny a contract! 2 years plus the optional roll on of a year at a time. Bit like Pep at Barca. Don't think LFC should/will offer more than 3-4+yr contracts, we lost so much money with them in the last 12 months.

And I just can't seem to get enough Suarez...  fking boss chant for a boss player.

Some great chants there yesterday- "Where's your famous beachball now?", "Steve Bruce, he's got a beachball head" and "Beachball, beachball, whats the score?"  cracked me up.

And five minutes of the Suarez song, omg

Man, so glad to win that, we don't normally do too well away against Sunderland. Shame that Carroll's header got cleared off the line. Even though he had a reasonably average game... What a presence he has. And the look at Steve Bruce at the end

What a difference Agger made. Speo did alright. Clear peno. Fk them and their beachball. Also seem to remember a certain Valencia having a similar thing vs Masch and nobody conmplained then...

Onwards and upwards towards 5th place  we still have to play Spurs at Anfield too!

Morning Fellas, some more good news!

Ayre is the new MD (CEO?) and Comolli as Director of Football (dropping the Strategy)

http://es.pn/igei90

I think Ayre has been worthy of a shot at the top, he was the exec over the last couple of years that showed any real responsibility.

"But importantly, Ian is also from Liverpool and understands the relationships between the club, the supporters and the city. He will play a key role in all of our future plans."

just waiting for the Stadium announcement now.

Yep , saw that too.It seems that Ayre may be worth a go.One of my work colleagues is a Spurs fan ; he's rather less than complimentary about Comoli. Still , so far so good.
I missed seeing any  CEO announcement- has it still to be  made or is it Warner?
Permalink Permalink

I get the feeling that Ayre as MD will be acting as CEO, does that sound right? Warner is the Chairman.

I know a couple of Spurs fans too both very cautious of Comolli. Probably a result of the poor relationship he had with Jol. I don't see that with Kenny so far.

EDIT:
Come to think of it, MD and CEO are technically the same thing. Ayre is the top dog on the business side of the club, Comolli top dog on the football side. TheKop2011-03-23 14:07:36

Yup, thats exactly it. Should be good for Ayre, although not sure how long it will be for. Comolli has been alright so far, but it could be a big summer.

Now get Kenny and Clarke signed up, plz!

Couldn't agree more. Karma's a b*#ch ain't it! After the beachballgate we got freekickgate and penaltygate go our way! Two "wrongs" do make a right imo!

Next game.......away against west brom! Be a few players dead keen to stick it to hodgson!

On the Kenny front, i'm all for him but I wonder if the owners have their eyes set on Mourinho since he's dead keen to come back to england and his spanish experience has not been very good with madrid. Thought's?

Mourinho. No.

Owners would need a damn good reason to dump Kenny after the clean up job he's done after Hodgson. As good a manager Mourinho is I think Kenny's the man to get us through the next couple of years of rebuilding.

Comolli:

And the former Tottenham director of football feels sure that Liverpool's January business - selling Torres and signing Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll for a combined 57.8 million outlay - has improved the atmosphere at the club.

"Getting two players triggered the fact that we could sell one player who didn't want to be here and get two who did want to be here,'' he said. "When you have someone who doesn't want to be here and you swap him for people who want to be here the atmosphere changes.

"It's like there is a bright new sky with no cloud over our head from the day that happened. So it's been only positive. That was really a relief for those reasons.''

Agree 100%. There isn't a manager in the world who would get the support from the fans that Kenny has, and rightfully so given the job he and Clarke have done.

Good to hear the atmosphere in the dressing room has changed. May be something to do with getting rid of a certain Woy too...

Agree robags, bet Agger is well keen to play  wouldn't write off a 30 yard screamer from him! Gonna be a tough game though given how well Woy has done at the Baggies. Really really hope we win and they go down though, can't fking stand Hodgson.

Absolutely!

Hot off the press:

@neiljjones Dani Pacheco is to join Norwich on loan. Good move for him: good club for loanees, lots to play for. Good move for them: extra match-winner.

Yeah, thats good. Hopefully we can see some highlights on that show for the lower leagues on the telly! And hopefully he plays, that'd be good too. Apparently they have some injuries up front. All good

Mourinho- I like him as a manager but now isn't the time. With all the bitching and back stabbing that's gone on for the last few years , a little bit of stability wouldn't go amiss. I get the feeling that Henry et al aren't idiots ; if they didn't appoint KD to a substantive contract , they risk alienating the fan base. So despite the Special One's attributes , too soon. For me , The King all the way at the mo'.Besides , on results alone he warrants it!!

Talking of unhappy players,I wish Reina would shut his yap.If he's angling for a move , then fine ; sell him and tell him to f..k off.If he isn't , then tell him to stop blathering on about how he doesn't know how much longer he's got blah blah blah...Starting to read a bit like a certain other winging Spanish berk

pacheco on loan at norwich? that's interesting

our henri lansbury is there, carving up to by all accounts too. We're excited about him.

Pacheco plays centrally right? Those two might be the engine for norwich for the rest of the year then... both young but apparently very talented. Lansbury is a box-to-box type, whereas it sounds like pacheco is purely attacking? perfect foil for eachother......

Brad Jones off to Derby County on loan now.

Arsene tried to get Pepe in Jan. If you think $23m will be enough think again Monsieur Wenger.

it was in the off-season, not Jan
sounds like pepe's on his way out now anyway? And 23 mil would be a world record for a GK Worth it though, reina is a class above

apparently arsene is no longer interested given the form of szczesny, hence wilson coming out with those quotes now

Dani has played a lot around in the midfield, but he's much, much more attacking. He played on the left for Spain at the U-19s and was boss. Could be good for them, hopefully he can show what he can do! He's a real clever player, but I hear they play tidy football? Which will suit him down to the ground. Could be nice to watch the highlights on tv!
