This.

You spent 17 million on De Gea ffs

Yes, it is not an everyday transfer but you would think that most other clubs without the financial constraints would spend available money where needed. Especially a club that is (normally) competitive in a lot of different competitions which can put pressure on the squad. We could have done with at least one more first team midfielder this season.

Since 2005 Chelsea's net spend is 245mil, City's 426mil and Utd's is 58mil.

Sure, the week we got knocked out of the Champions League, the in-form Carrick was suspended, and Cleverly and Anderson were injured, and Fletcher is still unfit so the squad looks thin in midfield and we play 2 wingers there. How many centre-midfielders should we have on the pay-roll? Is that the best way to run a club, to buy a new player everytime somebody gets injured for 3 months? let's say we bought Goetzhe from Dortmund, then Cleverly, Morrison and Tunicliffe would never get a game, and I don't want that. This club is built on 125 years of local lads getting their chance. It might not be until next season that we see Morrison and Tunicliffe but we should wait rather than spend $20 million now to plug a gap.

Anyone remember 2005? We were terrible and plenty of people were calling for Fergie's head and saying the team needed an overhaul. We went on to win 3 titles in a row and a Champions League in Moscow. In the words of the great Sir Alex Ferguson "you's are all f**kin idiots"

Your not going to convince the Arsenal supporters. They are paranoid about Utd. Maybe I can't blame them cause they have won zip in the last 8 years and are unlikely to win anything this season.

We were for one season. You can't be the best team in the UK forever. You win some you lose some.In your case it has been more of the lose than the win.

Hoping to see Pogba on the bench at the least.

Pretty average game.Unt should have scored six. Poor finishing and very good keeping from QPR. They missed a sitter as well. Can't complaim about the 3 points.

I thought we were decent actually for the amount of pressure QPR were piling on us on that smaller pitch, alot of our one touch football etc was very sharp, led admirably by Carrick in the middle. Cerny sure had an absolute blinder but we just weren't as clinical as we were versus Wolves. Jones is really impressing with his energy am still concerned about our defence though. If Evra is being made to look silly by Mackie whats the likes of some of the truly high class wingers in the league going to do to him. They should just force him to mark Nani every day in training, thats a nightmare for any defender at the moment.

Oh how hilarious!

Yeah thought we did quite well, Carrick is playing quite well at the moment, and that goal was a really nice finish.

Created a lot of chances - Evans could've had a hattrick, Rooney missed a couple of decent opportunities... still at least we took two and defended relatively well.

Fulham away midweek, then two home games against Wigan and Blackburn. We've struggled a little at Craven Cottage in the past, hopefully we get three points there before Christmas.

A couple of interesting transfer rumours... with Ferdinand injury prone, Vidic out for the season, and Fletcher indefinitely out, a few rumours suggest we will make a move for Gary Cahill to bolster the defence. So we will sign him in January, paying a fee (his contract is up in the summer).

Not sure what to make of it, he's been pretty assured playing for England, but I wonder if he is quite of the quality we are looking for (I'm sure Ferguson knows what he is doing).

Secondly, rumours reckon we will sign Benfica midfielder Nicholas Gaitan at the end of the season.

This rumour is exciting, he played against us in the two matches in the Champions League group stage and I thought he was very impressive. Would be a top signing I think.

Got to love an approaching transfer window!

Judging on what I saw this morning in the Blackburn - Bolton game, I'm not too sure if I'd want Cahill. Seems a Liverpool/Arsenal standard signing to me. Reminds me a lot of Jonny Evans. Has a couple of good games and then throws up an absolute howler.

Gaitan on the other hand I would take in a heartbeat. My mate was at the United-Benfica game and reckoned he was the best midfielder on the park. 30 million might be 5-10 to much for a player with so few int. caps and big league experience.

Positive article on manutd.com also this week, an interview with my beloved Paul Pogba saying he wants to become a club great. I won't be getting my hopes up too high though until the ink is dry on a new 5 year contract.

He knew what he was saying-Evans up until the last game has been rubbish. I can't believe that AF gave him another contract.
Have been hoping for a few years that he would come right. We will see.

It really winds me up when people get on the back of Jonny Evans, United fans did the same to Fletcher and O'Shea a few years back and look how they turned out. Evans is young, so he will make mistakes while he is learning, but you don't continually play for Manchester United if you are no good. Remember Ferguson chose to keep Evans over Pique so he must have something about him. And in fact, the last 3 games he has been very solid. Anyone knocking Evans now will look like a fool when he is Captaining the side at 30. I sometimes wonder if you people actually watch the games, or just catch a few highlights on Youtube.

WOW. Just a reminder that it wasn't a choice between Pique and Evans, Pique was homesick, wanted to play in Spain, so Fergie did the honorable thing and granted his wish.

Granted, Evans has performed well of late. And I as much as you, hope he continues to improve and play well week in and week out. As United fans, we aren't on here actively hoping one player or another stuffs up and is subsequently sold. I want Evans to do well just as much as I want any other United player to do well.

All Evans needs is a season of 40+ games and he will be a fantastic player. I'm sorry for Vidic but this is Jonnys chance so lets let him have it and judge him next season.

Now I think about it, I remember Pique talking of being homesick, so far point, Fergie got Evans by default. Maybe he thought a Pique-Evans pairing was the future of the club. Shame Pique left, but I think we have a great player in Smalling. Everyone is talking about Jones ending up as a centre-back but I think he is brilliant in midfield and will only get better. His box-to-box approach reminds me a lot of Bryan Robson and a young Roy Keane.

Up the Reds!

As I said earlier, Evans has to prove that he can be a great player.Up until now I think that he has been poor.(apart from the last couple of games) He is not a natural footballer, is prone to kicking lumps out of people, giving away penalties and getting red cards.
He was lucky that AF did not sell him to Sunderland this season as most people expected. I have for a few years, like you, hoped for big things from him. He still has the potential, whether he fulfills that will be up to him.Leggy2011-12-22 20:49:18

45 points from 18 games is Our best points haul at this stage and it's only good enough for 2nd albeit on GD. Seems like Mancini is getting a bit nervous or something he's been complaining that Liverpool will have an extra 2 days rest before their game on the 4th. Hopefully we dispatch Blackburn on NYE to be top in the new Year, Just hope the injury list doesn't get any longer.

Mmmm yes injury list is looking rather bleak alright, but good to see even with a disheveled side we can still dish out a thumping, although Wigans red was extremely harsh.

Could bringing Berbatov in at this stage be another stroke of SAF genius? Being he hasn't played all season then pops up with 4 goals in two games, heres hoping SAF sees him as an integral part of our title defence - I actually thought Hernandez was very average last night, if things start getting desperate perhaps we may see Rooney drop into midfield and Welbeck and Berba up front? Who knows - good to see we have plenty of striking power though.

This is the second time sir A F has endorsed a fellow manager who is strggling the "sack the coach" line and within a week United lose to that manager. if memory serves me they both were former United players. Hogster2012-01-02 09:55:22
