Was a pretty scathing article. A shame for any club, nevermind a club like Liverpool.
Just goes to show how some think, on the Liverpool website Suarez was voted MOM.

Liverpool are never going to apologize for signing the Cannibal of Ajax.

To say that he has been our best CB this season is not true.As I mentioned earlier, his problem is he is not consistent. When he is on he is pretty good. Has tended to give away too many fouls and penalties. As to being young, 24 is hardly young.I think he has the talent and he has improved in the last year.I hope he makes it.AF must have had doubts as well as he was close to selling him to Sunderland at the start of the season.
As for Rio, he was 23 years old when he first played for Utd.
So who has been better? Rio has been a liability for most of the season and Evans outshone him v Liverpool. Vidic hardly played and Smalling and Jones have been shakey at times as well. To compare him with Ferdinand at the same age is wrong, like I said Ferdinand no positional play whatsoever as a youngster, however he matured playing week in and weekout at West Ham and Leeds. Evans has had to try to break through established world class stars, playing odd games here and there. Now he is getting a run of games he is looking class!! And people do forget that Gary Pallister, great as he was, scored some of the craziest own goals you will ever see!!

Absolute rubbish... hes been their best CB this season to be honest and the defensive lynchpin. Hes had to make do with 5 different partners this season - including Carrick! In days gone by fans used to cheer on a player who came through the ranks as one of their own - these days if they are not a big money, big name signing then they are dismissed as rubbish and not allowed to grow into the role.

Evans is young and hasa lot to learn. I can remember 10 years ago Alan Hanson used to pick apart a young Rio Ferdinand, highlighting his many deficencies and look what he became. Lay off Evans, let him develop and he will be a great centre back for years to come

Well said that man. Obviously those people who think Evans is United's worst ever centre back have no idea that United played for 114 years before the Premiership was invented. There were some terrible players in the 70's and 80's. I'm on record here saying before that Jonny Evans is a fantastic talent, he's played over 100 games for United already! His confidence is growing as he plays a run of games and he is looking bigger and stronger.

I've noticed the haters have been pretty quiet recently. Too much negativity on this forum from plastic supporters. Evans will be first choice for the next 10 years and there's a good chance he will end up as Captain.

I'm not a hater of Evans. He has always shown potential, but he is not consistent enough yet.
He has not played anywhere near 100 games for Utd.

Excuse my trolling but 100 games for United doesn't mean anything. Three of the worst players in the entire world - Wes Brown, Mikael Silvestre, and John O'Shea - each played more than 200 games for the club.

Good result today but very disappointing to see that Valencia could be out for a month.

Anyone else think the Canaries at Carrow Road tonight has major banana skin potential?

These guys are not going to be easy. Regardless that some on here might think that there are some rubbish sides in the EPL, all are quite capable of beating anyone on their day.
We should win, but am unlike other club supporters that are always cocky.
The game is on at the same time as the Spurs game but different channels.Us and Spurs to win would be great. Leggy2012-02-26 17:43:17

Norwich have a great record at home and the yellow Army will be going nuts. Early goal will help silence that. Longer the game goes without a goal the more nervous I'll be. Could easily be 4-5 goals in this game though.Stretford End2012-02-26 17:53:58

Norwich are 8th in the league, dont think anyone is referring to them when discussing 'rubbish' sides, although im not sure who leggy's referring to when making that comment anyway

It was not referring to Norwich at all.Have seen many comments in the past to teams in the lower half as 'rubbish' If it had been you making those comments, I would have said so.

Get in there! The United winning spirit grabs another one at the death and it just had to be Mr 900 himself, Ryan Giggs.
Permalink Permalink
about 14 years ago · edited about 5 years ago · History
Yeah, we worked hard in the match, Norwich gave a great account of themselves but we got the win at the end there, which was obviously very nice.

900 games for Ryan Giggs, what an unbelievable player, and knocking in the winning goal in the 92nd minute.

David De Gea some outstanding positioning and saving, he's a top keeper in the making.

But seriously, well done, fantastic achievement that will never be bettered

Very happy with 3 points there! De Gea looked confident under couple of high balls. Effing brilliant shot-stopper. Spurs and Bilbao will be tougher.

After scoring very early Utd looked like they were just happy to sit back and hold on to the 1-0 lead. For the next 70 mins it was always a case of 'not if Norwich would score but when' The moment they did (about the 82 min) Utd seemed to change gear and could had scored a couple.
I'm not saying we were lucky, but Norwich deserved better than that.
Any team that has to play there, beware, they are a good side.
Just happy with the 3 points.

Yeah we twice went ahead only for Charlton to equalise twice, both times within seconds of us scoring, but managed to get a third and not fall apart!

Tonight is a big game for both teams.Last week Spurs played the worst I've seen them this season and they will be a lot better today.
Not prepared to pick this. It could go either way.
Even settle for a point away from home.Leggy2012-03-04 21:25:49

Really outshone for large parts, but took our chances brilliantly and a fantastic result.

Massive step on the way to the title

Absolute bonus 3 points that. Spurs without vanderVart, Parker & Bale, yet Livermore & Sandro completely bossed Scholes and Carrick in midfield. De Gea again made couple of important saves to keep us in it. Soft goals to Rooney and Young's first (poor marking from Modric) were completely against run of play. Young's second a cracker. sh*te piss-poor pass from Giggs allowed Spurs consolation goal. Gotta get snappier in the midfield I reckon. Think it would be a good idea for the gaffer to give Anderson some game time in next couple of games & Cleverley when fit. But now we've got the 3 points we just can't be complacent in next few games.

Can't remember the last time a team outplayed Utd for such long periods. They must have been gutted to be 1 down at half time after playing us off the park. They started off the same way in the 2nd but when the second went in it was all over. Rio had his best game of the season(not before time)
The 3 points were great and I'm glad we don't have to play them again. On that performance they deserve Champions League football.

Maybe, and you still have to play them as do we.

To be honest, we've played them twice this season already and been their equal on both occasions, despite losing by one goal both times.

I don't think they have the mental advantage over us that your side does, for example.

Looks like we have lost one of our top young players, Paul Pogba. It seems that Juventus has offered him a lot more money.
Pity, cause he was an outstanding prospect.

So I've been told United were played off the park by Athletic Bilbao this morning - what was the United line-up?

Obviously United can afford not to take the Europa League seriously, but it's still not a good look.

Starting line-up v Bilbao: De Gea, Evra, Smalling, Evans, Rafael, Young, Jones, Giggs, Park, Rooney, Hernandez. Anderson replaced Park and Carrick replaced Jones in 2nd half; Nani on late.

Bilbao were in another league. De Gea kept it from being embarrassing. I'm on fire this morning
We're long odds for 2nd leg where Bilabo have won the last 12. Their fans are nuts/awesome BTW.

I was following on Soccernet and it did seem that we couldn't control possession for large parts of the game and Hernandez didn't play well at all. Also interested in seeing the free-kick that resulted in Bilbao's 3rd goal, didn't realise that playing the ball without a boot warrants a free-kick.

The game was live and after 15mins it was obvious that this Spanish side was a real class act. Utd could have scored a couple more but Hernandez first touch let hom down a couple of times when he was in with a chance.
Bilbao was the best side Utd have played this season and even at 1-1, they were unlikely to go to Spain and win.
