The way things have happened this season, it'll probably be Holloway!

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

@anfieldonline: Strong indications from several sources that Roy Hodgson has been relieved of his duties as Perennial strugglers Liverpool FC manager.

The Anfieldonline guys are pretty reliable.

Whats Martin O'Neill doing? Does he still need a job?

Who would hire him? He drove Villa into the ground.

I think it is the current manager and Randy Lerner that is driving them into the ground and Houllier is ex Perennial strugglers Liverpool what does that say about recent Pool managers i.e Rafa at Inter too Rafa out of a job they will surely get him back now

The reason i say MON drove them into the ground is that he oversaw the selling of two of your best players over the past couple of seasons, set up your team to only play 4-5-1 and only play to bypass the midfield (i.e. one dimensional), then left your club within days of the beginning of the new season.

I wouldn't blame Houiller or Lerner too much but that's just me. Perhaps as a Villa fan you know more about the situation but that's how i see it.

Three for me, and two for them.

I am not a villa fan at all I am just a interested in the situation and You can't tell me that Lerner not giving him the funds to push on with the job he was doing there

And Stoke are pretty one dimensional works for them I think it partly does have to do with Houllier also partly could be O'Neill but he had to sell to buy

Apologies. Saw your name and thought i recognised it from a Villa thread a while back. My mistake.

I too am interested in the situation. MON deserves some credit. He took Villa to the Europa League several times which was a good achievement, but that was about their limit. In reality Villa aren't anything more than a middle of the road team. Don't play terrible football, but it's not great either. Don't have any big names. I don't think they would be missed from the Premier League if they went down.

My point about being one dimensional is to do with Houllier trying to get them to play football through the midfield and the midfield simply not being up to it. That is squarely MON's fault. You can't blame Houllier for trying to improve the standard of play and take them to the next level.

Three for me, and two for them.

Its fine I agree with you on the Martin O'Neill thing also, but do think they have a big name in Ashley Young by far and away there best player

I can't blame him but time will tell as the premier league is about results pure and simple

who do you support then? Angry? Lolz. Anything to do with Perennial strugglers Liverpool atm just feels so 'meh'. Yanks + Hodgson= a part of me inside dead. And, uhn, I dunno what you think of Rafa, but I guess you don't like him.

ANYWAY. It really has to be Roy to get sacked first. Tomorrow morning, I'm thinking.

oh naize. we need a new manager, thats what we need. then we can start worrying about 'clearing out the deadwood'. i guess when you say that you mean Lucas, Ngog etc etc?

Mmmm, that Lucas is rubbish.

Tbh I think Ngog is a reasonably good player, good technique. It just seems that Torres brings down his confidence a wee bit, with the pressure to produce good delivery, play good balls etc.. I dont know if its just me or does anyone else see this?

Roy H has not just become a poor coach. He has been around a long time and has done quite well.As a netural I think that he has inherited a very poor squad. Yes they do have some very good players, but not enough.
The thing that does surprise me is that he should have know that before he took the job.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

la la la la la. so much wrong with what you say there. but you're a united fan so of course you want him to stay with us. he's a moron who doesn't have a clue about our club. hodgson out.

I think there is somewhat of a point there. Your squad is extremely weak, and it is true that 3/4 of Hodgson's recruitments have been dire, but a lot happened over the past few years to lead to this situation. The wheels certainly started falling off much earlier than four months ago.

Thing is points about the squad being weak are fine, and the wheels having already started coming off before his arrival, but it's clear he isn't working out.

I know i speak from a rival fans point of view but there isn't really any sense in keeping him on now. You shouldn't give him time just for the sake of giving him time.

Three for me, and two for them.

It's hard because he just doesn't 'get it'. There's no emotional attachment between him and us. His press conferences make me violent. He doesn't understand the club or the fans. He says the worst things. I mean, he's blamed the players, the fans- ffs, he even claimed the protest against H+G was distracting the team! There is nothing in what he even says that makes us, as 'Pool fans, want to give him a chance. Never mind how he goes on-the-pitch.

Our squad is good enough to beat Wolves, Newcastle, Blackburn, Northhampton, Everton etc etc etc. 9 league defeats in 20 games? One away win all season? Its not good enough. Simply not good enough. But what do you expect from someone who has had 13 away wins in England since 1980, or something crazy like 113 games? His greatest achievement is losing a final and his CV is more impressive for the number of places he has gone than any trophies won.

Yeah, what Buffy was saying. You can't just give him time for the sake of it, especially when he admitted himself that he "can't work any better". There are no signs of improvement, and the way he has us playing isn't a style of football (if you can call it that) that we should be playing. I don't expect us to play like you or Barca, but eight players inside our own box is not right. As well as this, the players (apart from Carra) don't like his methods, especially good players like Reina and Torres.

But I hate him, so I'm probably biased. But I really don't think our squd is that bad. And if you wanna replace Aquilani with Poulsen and Insua with Konchesky for nothing, then thats just weakening the squad even more, so don't complain about it.

GAH.

Of course it is not my club so my feelings are a bit biased too (naturally I want Roy to stay on as long as possible ). My point is that it is not like removing Roy will magically fix all of the problems there that have been building for quite a few years imo.

He doesn't seem to be working out - of that there is no doubt. The question is, who would be better right now?

Roy is most definitely not a scouser - he will be looking for a job in the morning.

This is the key question the board have to ask themselves. An answer of 'anyone' won't do. They need to take their time in doing so because the next managerial appointment will be one of the most crucial in LFC's history.

Three for me, and two for them.

Yup, because "anyone is better than Rafa" has proved to be quite wrong and, as sh*te as he is, the same goes for Roy. As well as that the manager is going to have a lot of rebuillding to get us back into the Top Four, so they need to be good.

Mmm, I don't think it'll be a magical fix either.. But I'd at least like to be moving in the right direction! And that, my friend, is the exact question that I was asking when everyone wanted to get rid of Rafa. Who else could do a better job in the circumstances? But, that's another argument. For now, we have to hope that we can find a good, young manager who can get us back where we belong.

And these 'problems', were they there when we were challenging for the title two years ago?

*sigh* Ahhh, life.
