Maguire grabbed a dramatic late winner for the Dons
<!-- E IIMA --><!-- S SF -->

Chris Maguire salvaged Aberdeen's top six hopes with a dramatic injury-time winner against 10-man Inverness.

Sone Aluko's low shot put Dons ahead on seven minutes before Dave Bus' headed own-goal made the scores level.

Russell Duncan's 25-yarder put the home side in front on 40 minutes, but Barry Nicholson's header made it even again. Duncan then saw red for two bookings.

Lee Miller's header put Dons ahead again and Roy McBain drilled a leveller before Maguire's bundled winner. <!-- E SF -->

Inverness had registered the first effort on target when Don Cowie's snap shot from the edge of the penalty area drew a smart save from Derek Soutar, but it was Aberdeen who took the lead in the seventh minute.

The architect of the goal was Miller, who spun away from Duncan in the middle of the pitch before lofting a pass out to Aluko.

The on-loan Birmingham player then embarked on a menacing run, cutting inside from the left wing before placing a low shot past Michael Fraser in the home goal.

Aberdeen looked to build on their advantage with Ricky Foster and Miller flashing ambitious shots off target.

But Inverness scored an equaliser against the run of play when Duncan's long free-kick was carelessly headed into his own net by Bus.

Craig Brewster's men forged ahead five minutes before the break when Cowie laid the ball off to Duncan 25 yards from goal and his left-foot shot flew into the net for his third goal of season. He was carelessly booked for over-celebrating.

Aberdeen restored parity on the stroke of half-time. Nicholson stole in behind Phil McGuire to head home Foster's cross.

However, the drama was not over, for scorer Duncan was issued with a second yellow card by referee Dougie McDonald.

The midfielder had kicked the ball away in frustration just after McDonald had blown his whistle to signal for half-time and that appeared to be the misdemeanour which was punished.

It took the Dons only eight minutes of the second period to make their man advantage count as Miller headed home Nicholson's inswinging corner.

But Inverness weren't giving up and remarkably made the scoreline 3-3 on 57 minutes when McBain drilled home Cowie's cross with his left foot.

Aberdeen's top six dream looked to be over as 90 minutes arrived, but up popped Chris Maguire four minutes into stoppage time to bundle home and set up a decider against Falkirk in the final game before the split.

Referee McDonald summoned Grant Munro to his room after the full-time whistle to show the Inverness defender a red card for dissent and complete a miserable afternoon for his team.

Inverness CT: Fraser, Tokely (Paatelainen 81), McGuire, Munro, Hastings, Proctor, Cowie, Duncan, McBain, Imrie (Hart 74), Niculae.
Subs Not Used: Malkowski, McAllister, Wyness, Kerr, Vigurs.

Sent Off: Duncan (46). Booked: Hastings, Duncan, McGuire, McBain.

Goals: Bus 21 og, Duncan 40, McBain 57.

Subs Not Used: Langfield, Touzani, Mair, Walker, Pawlett.

Sporting 0-2 Rangers (0-2)

What a result for the Gers!

With most top footy sides packed full of players from overseas it is encouraging to see so many Scots in the Rangers squad (11 to be exact).

Rangers: McGregor, Broadfoot, Cuellar, Dailly, Papac, Hemdani, Davis, Ferguson, Thomson, McCulloch (Whittaker 77), Darcheville (Cousin 72).
Subs Not Used: Alexander, Boyd, Novo, Burke, Naismith.

By the way, the famous Ayrshire Killie (Kilmarnock FC) are far superior to any of the Glasgow teams...apart from the mighty Partick Thistle!

Good luck to Partick against Rangers in their Scottish Cup Quarter Final replay, at fortress Firhill, this weekend.

I spoke to them last year, when FOX started carrying as part of their sports channel line up, seeing if they had plans to do similar here.

Not yet, was the response. They want to build & grow the channel in Oz, before they bring it here.

Suppose one way to push it is to write to the SPL and complain that there is no coverage here

And if you know the history,

We don't care what the animals say,
What the hell do we care,
For its all we know,
Is that there going to be a show,
And the Glasgow Celtic will be there.

Rangers are bitching about their Schedule, but players have booked holidays and there is bugger all time in the year for them to actually have time off.
The league has already been delayed, why delay it more.
When a team only actually wins outright 2 of its 8 games, and makes a UEFA cup final, thats when you know they're playing the most boring football.

The Glasgow Rangers foreign scout flies to Baghdad to watch a young Iraqi play football and is suitably impressed and arranges for him to come over to Scotland. Hes signed to a one-year contract and the kid joins the team for the pre-season.
Two weeks later Rangers are down 2-0 to Celtic with only 10 minutes left. The coach gives the young Iraqi the nod and he goes in. The kid is a sensation - scores 3goals in 10 minutes and wins the game for Rangers! The fans are thrilled, the players and coaches are delighted, and the media are in love with the new star.
When the player comes off the pitch he phones his mum to tell her about his first day of Scottish Premier League football. 'Hello mum, guess what?' he says. 'I played for 10 minutes today, we were 2-0 down, but I scored 3 goals and we won. Everybody loves me, the fans, the media
'Wonderful,' says his mum, 'Let me tell you about my day. Your father got shot in the street and robbed, your sister and I were ambushed, raped and beaten, and your brother has joined a gang of looters, and all while you were having such great time.' The young Iraqi is very upset. 'What can I say mum, I'm so sorry.' 'Sorry? You're sorry?' says his mum, 'It's your fault we moved to Glasgow in the first place!
