Walcott requires abdominal surgery - out for 4 games at this stage, so not too serious. Could really do with his pace and width though.

That is a bigger loss than most will admit. We don't have anyone to replace him and we are very, very short in the wide positions now. We need Podolski, Rosicky and Cazorla back asap.

Rocky possibly back for our game on Monday. Everyone else after the international break, which is cross you fingers time no one else picks up any injuries!

Santi could be back to napoli game next week but losing Wally is pretty massive. Will really need ryo and garnby to step up and hopefully make an impact.

It certainly is - my saying not too serious was in relation to having an operation and being back fairly quickly. He's a big loss.

Will continue to see Wilshere pushed out wide for the mean time then, and not too sure what will happen with the right wing. Gnabry is the obvious choice. Depending on how Bendtner goes over night I can see Wenger putting him on a wing in one of the up and coming games if Rosicky / Cazorla aren't back. Or Arteta / Flamini / Ozil midfield with Wilshere and Ramsey on the wings.

Walcott - possibly available for Norwich at home (Oct 19)

Podolski - possibly available for Liverpool at home (Nov 2)

Diaby - available approx January/February

We do miss pace when walcott and the ox are both injured.

I wouldn't mind gibbs starting on the left side of midfield, he's quick and incisive in the attacking end, good passing ability, and a great engine for tracking back to help Nacho.

having rosicky and cazorla back soon will be a handy start......there is a international break in a couple of weeks as well. Lets just hope we dont get any more injuries

agreed i wouldnt be suprised to see that at all to be honest, i would put nacho in the mid thou because gibbs has been excellent and you wouldnt want to stuff that and Nacho is better at not losing and passing the ball

The good thing is both have proven goal scoring abilities, it doesn't matter which one gets further forward. I suppose the risk is that they might both track too much, or bomb forward too much. Or it could work out beautifully and they could sync their forward and defensive movements perfectly due to their well nurtured understanding of the role of a full back.
As I wrote that I looked to my Arsenal calendar at my desk...Gibbs was celerbating a goal against Aston Villa in March last year back at me.

Was anyone else concerned about our performance against Stoke? We were rubbish in the 2nd half and the score really flattered us. In fact, Stoke passed the ball round like the old Arsenal used to. I watched the City v United game after ours and watching the performance of City was quite scary. We may be top of the league but I don't know how long we'll stay there if we keep playing like we did against Stoke.

An interesting fact though. In our EPL results so far, only the Spurs game has failed to finish with a scoreline of 3-1.

it'll be delayed on arsenalplayer

free online now, arsenal.com

Lineup is anyone's guess, I'll gamble on;

                           Viviano

Jenkinson-Mertesacker-Vermaelen-Monreal

                   Arteta-Frimpong

             Gnabry-Eisfeld-Miyaichi

                          Bendtner

First chance to see the new almunia?

Guessing frimpong must have a niggle.

Hayden starting in midfield... interesting. And no experience on the bench aside from flamini and viviano.

Arseblog reckons the game isn't televised - but it does look like arsenal.com are going to load delayed coverage to arsenal player later in the day. They also have live audio commentary available - might get in on that me thinks

yeah he looks terrible, on that performance i'd take akpom to start ahead of him. didnt watch the whole game but didnt look like ryo and gnabry had very good games. Good win for a very patched up team

So much this. Only half a team of regulars at best. Good to see Bendtner got an assist, I watched the first 60 and he was OK, give the man a chance though.

arteta pulled up with cramp, but no new injury

and it was the first run in the big leagues for a lot of the lads, not an amazing display, but a lot of heart can be taken from it

Harsh on bendtner, that's his first game back from a cruciate knee ligament don't forget. Played what, 2 games in the last year and a half?

I hope it's got his juices going, sad fact is we're gonna need him

Very happy with the result considering the squad we took. Vermaelen and Arteta were both returning and were expected to be rusty. Only Mertesacker has been playing first team regularly in that team we put out.

Because he hasn't yet ousted Fabianski as number 2. I think Fabianski has stepped it up, he made some decent saves by the sounds of it!

Stoked with the result alright, going beyond the back four and Fabianski there was very little form with the other 6 players.

This is the sort of result that with the players used helps continue building squad confidence.....

great to grind that out

glad for fabianski, he's had some rough luck over the years
