Mandzukic, Bacca, Martinez, Suarez, Morata, Higuain, Aubameyang. Plus the players you have listed, they are realistic.

It doesn't matter that the European leagues close 24 hours earlier, as long as the buying club can purchase then you can buy from anywhere.

We have scored 3 goals this season, 2 of which are own goals. Trying to hold back my frustrations until tomorrow, but I'm on the fence if we will sign anyone even with 200 million in the bank.

Good to know, always thought it worked that both countries windows needed to be open, but thinking back to previous transfers of course it works like this lol

Okay, so thinking (and I don't) that there was this last minute Cavani coup on the cards, why would it be so last minute? What could have changed from getting the ball rolling 2 days ago for instance?

I am confident no one is coming in. Was in the UK for the day we signed Ozil and the internets blew up all day. Not today. Wenger is in Paris to commentate. If we landed someone it will be a bit of a miracle.

Side plot of the day: Adebayor can't move to West Ham on loan as Jenkinson & Moses have already taken the two prem loan spots available. He'll have to pay Sp*rs 5m pounds to have his contract released & sign on a free. Classic.

pretty shark effort not to sign anyone at ALL. Even if we got a good DMF back up i would have been happy. i seriously can't believe that there isnt/wasnt any players out there that could have improved the squad. Can anyone seriously see us winning epl or champions with Giroud, Welbeck and Theo? Pretty gutted tbh

At risk of creating another all-in brawl, I'm really not understanding this panic.

I still think the quality we have at DMF is less than striker and that's where we should've purchased. Upgrading Flamini for me was more critical than upgrading Giroud. But even then we have 3 DMFs in the squad, the first choice has been performing as well as any DMF in the world over the last 8-9 months, and Arteta is perfectly adequate as the back-up. If both are injured we have Flamini.

Personally I would've liked Kondogbia in for Flam to really up the competition, and also as a natural replacement when Arteta finishes.

I feel the goals will come. They've come before with this group, they're not unproven, there are goal-scorers all over the park. When they click, the goals will flow.

We would surely only be interested in strikers that are an obvious upgrade on our first choice, in the same way we bought Cech. Buying a lesser keeper than Cech would have been absolutely pointless with Szczesny/Ospina on the books, in the same way that buying Austin or some other striker at less than the elite level would have been pointless.

We obviously failed to get one of these big superstar strikers over the line for whatever reason. We have the January window in 3 months time where we will start again. Will be interesting to see what strikers are unhappy and can be sniped at that point. Will be watching Benzema and Cavani's situations with interest up until then.

Yea I'm not as confident as I was before with arteta as the back up option. And even less so with flam. What are the chances of converting ox, Ramsey, Jacko??

Wilshere seems the most likely fit given his form there for England, but Arsene seems to prefer him at the other end of the pitch.

I wonder what Bielek is looking like in training? Perhaps still a few years away.

Groundhog day; except this time we actually still have a strong  squad. For the first time in a long time I am completely confident in our back 4 depth. Only issue is depth at DM and ST; though we aren't the only ones with these concerns. Look at Man Utd; they have as much depth at ST as us.

I don't care about Man Utd.

All we need - still, is a DM and a striker. At least as good as what we have, preferably better.

I would say less.

We have Giroud, Welbeck and Walcott.

They have Rooney and.........

Man City have Aguero and Chelsea have Costa, I'd say those are the best two strikers in the league.

That's what we wanted, and what we were going for with the attempts to get Benzema and Cavani. Unfortunately we didn't get it, but I believe that top top one is all we're missing - as a supporting cast, Giroud, Welbeck and Walcott are as good, if not better than the equivalents at other clubs.

Hopefully January............

If Cavani really was 50000000 then I am not bothered he hasn't come in

At the end of the day if our best XI is fit we can win any game

The downside is that won't get us the EPL title this season.

We are the only club in the top 5 European Leagues not to buy an outfield player. We have Giroud and Walcott as our striking options.

I hope Sanchez has big shoulders.

Welbeck has been ruled out for months as he wasn't able to avoid surgery on his knee. It's frustrating when you try to avoid surgery & it ends up you can't because you waste months on a gamble, however it's a gamble worth taking to avoid surgery. I'd be strongly considering bringing back Akpom or Sanogo from loan to cover him.

I wonder if that's why there were weird rumours of us having a bid turned down for a season long loan for Kokorin. That one seemed bizarre at the time, but makes more sense in light of this info...

I'm back, got home on Thursday night. Had an awesome time in the US. Plan was to watch the Liverpool and Newcastle games in the evening in the hotel but packed so much into the days that I was just too tired and couldn't keep my eyes open. For 3 or 4 days I kept saying "I'll watch the Liverpool game tonight" but it never worked out. So ended up staying off forums and not hearing the scores (not difficult to avoid EPL results over there) so I could watch when I got back. Only time I nearly saw something was in our hotel's casino in Las Vegas on the day of the Liverpool game I saw the highlights flash up on ESPN on a screen at one of the bars. Watched the Liverpool game yesterday morning and was planning to watch Newcastle today but it's not on PLP so must have only been a 24 hour one. Done a bit of hunting around to see if I could find it but ended up just looking up the score and watching highlights.

139 new posts since I last entered the thread so not going to go back through it. Disappointed to see we didn't sign anyone else but not at all surprised.

Ah bugger, if only I'd looked in the British Football on TV thread Pete's latest link would have provided me the Newcastle game.

The Ox still looks raw for me. He's exciting because he takes a man on & beats him. But as often as he beats him he also loses the ball & sets the opposition off on a counter. He's got a big future but he's not ready to be starting 11 for England or Arsenal yet.

Thhink Ox is really close but just keeps getting injured and missing too much football. Good to see him have a good impact yesterday though and nice to see Theo get on and score.

Only just seen this. I assume Ox and Theo would have played cricket before, at least at school or as kids so expected them to be able to do it. But Gabriel and Ospina are pretty funny, they wouldn't have even heard of cricket before this.

Gabriel stuck throwing it and he still must speak very little as he had no idea they were taking the piss, meanwhile Ospina looked like frog.

Put Jack in this exact same category

SkinnyB I think Jack's a bit more polished than the Ox, he hasn't picked up MOTM for England without good reason. But I do agree his injury's have plagued him. I just realised I bragged to a Liverpool mate about the quality of our second 11 and totally forgot about Welbs & Jack because they've been out so long!
