Much needed win. Losing Ramsey is unlucky but means we aren't forced to start him right now so we can play with a better DM combination and a proper right winger. Hopefully some of the CB's are back for the Everton game Saturday week

lol what? 'forced to start him'? With Ox already out we're very thin on the ground. With Ramsey out we're even thinner.

As in I don't think he's part our best 11 right now.

Elneny and Coquelin as DM and I'd always prefer to play with a proper right winger such as Campbell or Theo over a CM. I'm not a fan of him playing right wing one bit but to clarify further he seems to make it in regardless of form.

Best 11 is irrelevant at this stage of the season where we are still (theoretically) in 3 competitions. We are going to struggle for depth which means more injuries.

This is also the guy that scored against the Spuds btw so he's slightly useful

For people who watched, how did we line up this morning. On this livescore app i have it said we were playing a 4-4-2 with Walcott in the middle of the park, but that can't be right.

Three for me, and two for them.

4-2-3-1 with Walcott on the left, Campbell on the right and Iwobi in the middle I believe

My mate reckons Iwobi looks the biz. How did he play? He might end up with some more game time now. Happy with the win but short turnaround time now for the Watford game

The usual formation. Walcott was terrible up until his assist then it gave him a massive confidence boost. Elneny looks to have settled in quickly and Iwobi looked very lively in the attacking third.

I really, really like the look of Iwobi.

Genuine question from a neutral. Do you have any CB's on loan you can recall or youths who will step up? chambers and who for cb?

Unless Mertesacker is concussed or has an eye socket fracture he should be available this weekend, and will play alongside Chambers.

Next cab off the rank is Monreal at CB, Gibbs being an excellent replacement at LB. Monreal played a lot of CB alongside Chambers at the beginning of last season and was pretty good there.

After that, not sure, perhaps Flamini, but Koscielny is expected to only miss one more game, and it's sounding like Gabriel's hammy isn't too bad.

We should be ok, unless Mertesacker is out for longer. Worst case scenario our back four this weekend will be;

Bellerin-Chambers-Monreal-Gibbs

Not that bad.

Walcott had a shocking game until the final 15 minutes when he started scoring goals. His touch was off, he was out of sync with team mates, and looked like he was often out of position. Then boom he scores two good finishes in Henry fashion. Hopefully it re-starts his scoring. Oh and his corners were utter sharke.

Giroud had an OK game. For a guy trying to find a goal he spent a lot of time out wide pinging in crosses. Good instincts for the first, great finish for the second. You can't overestimate his defensive contribution for set pieces, or for his ability to release pressure by holding the ball up.

Iwobi had a good game. 90 minutes will be good for him, although he didn't look threatening he did look confident on the ball and recycled possession well. Rarely lost the ball unless he was in the final third.

Campbell had a great game. Heaps of energy and attacking threat. Looked most likely to score & instigate our attacks. Favorite moment was him being dispossessed on half way then pacing back to cut the guy down legally, recover possession, and re-start the attack.

Elneny had a good game. Plenty of energy and options in midfield. Got an unnecessary foul. I feel like he'll go better in 12 months when he's bulked up a bit as he does look a little precious at times, but Ozil & Cazorla are examples of guys who started like that and upped their strength over time.

Ospina had a good game too. Looking assured at the back, minus a little flappy given his height. Made a great save when it was either 0-0 or 1-0.

The rest all played well, or were injured too quickly to evaluate.

I have to say that Campbell's progression has really impressed/surprised me. He's probably been our best. most consistent attacking player this year except for Ozil.

I think he means Wenger has been blindly playing Ramsey of later even though he's clearly out of form Elneny is better at DM and Campbell is better at right wing.

Campbell has had more end product than Sanchez this season

Pretty sure none of us picked that pre-season

I’m back now in case anyone noticed I hadn’t been around. Just needed a bit of a break. Despite my more negative outlook, after going all Colin Firth for the Welbeck winner against Leicester I genuinely believed for the first time that we were going to go on and win the thing. Then after the stressful week with my partner in hospital (all good now) the United and Swansea games broke me. After Swansea in particular I felt completely and utterly broken and couldn’t really face stressing and ranting over it for days so decided to go into media lockdown.

Stayed off here and my other regular Arsenal forum and didn’t read, listen to or talk about anything do to with football other than watch the Spurs and Hull games and post my tips in the other thread. 174 new posts in this thread since I last entered it before the Swansea game. Next highest in this part of the forum is the United thread with 10!

Felt good to finally get a win again yesterday and I really want the FA Cup again. All those injuries in one game was spectacular even for us though.

Great news about the missus AJC.

And yes I did notice your absence!

I actually considered going into lockdown too. If I'm honest, in the immediate moments after going 2-1 down to Spurs, I decided I was indeed going into hibernation, thankfully Alexis came to the rescue!

I thought I would dig this up from my photo archives. This was the Under 21's line up from the game I went to in September 2013 at the Emirates. Interesting to see where some of these players are now

This peaked my interest.

Macey - still at club as a reserve player

Bellerin - first choice RB (DAMN SON!)

Boateng - according to wikipedia was released end of 2014 at contract expiry and hasn't been picked up

Frimpong - freezing his nutz off in Russia #dench

Ajayi - sold to Cardiff last year and has been out on loan since

Isaac Hayden - still at club, on loan at Hull (personally hoping he makes the squad next year)

Ryo - Sold to second tier bundasliga side last year

Olsson - Sold to FC Mydkhfsjhs789hdiufhs in Denmark after a succesful loan there

Akpom - still at club, on loan at Hull

Esifeld - sold to Fulham, loaned to German side VFL Bochum, forgotten about and never came back

Gnabry - still at club, currently trying to justify his chubby cheeks to Tony Pulis at WBA

Kamara - still at club, on loan to Southend United

Iliev - still at club as a reserve player

Iwobi - still at club running the show in Ozil's absence in cup games

Maitland-Niles - still at club, on loan at Ipswich town

Anthony Jeffrey - contract cancelled by mutual consent, bounced around for awhile, currently contracted to Forest Green Rovers (as opposed to those c*nts Water Blue Rovers) and on loan at Boreham Wood.

Certainly did notice AJC, you weren't around to gloat about your impressive tip in the other thread.

What's the other forum you use? I used to read arsenal-land.co.uk, but grew tired of it. Never liked Arsenal mania either, and that's the only other I've ever read. More insight in here compared to the two combined.

Win this FA cup game, get through that and Barca with no injuries, and then let's smash the league.

Loads of pressure on Leicester and Spurs this weekend. They won't want to slip up knowing we have a game in hand over them now.

Three for me, and two for them.

Sounds like BFG and the gab should be right for the weekend. Ramsey may need another week. With Santi and jack at least 2 weeks away. I have almost forgotten what it is like to watch jack play, or even his best position ...it's been so long since I've seen him. Poor guy ay. A professional sportsman who rarely plays

Haha, it’s funny because I don’t think I have believed in any other tip in the last 2 seasons less than that one. I was so down about things and given the form of the 2 sides I couldn’t see any way we were not going to lose, but I still couldn’t pick a Spurs win. Was sure we’d concede at least 2 so just went for 2-2 and it ended up being the correct score for the triple point game. After the red card and their 2 goals I thought it was going to end up 4 or 5-1.

The other forum is called One More in the Tolly. The Tolly refers to an Arsenal fan pub in Islington. Used to be on Arsenal Mania since the early days of it but it got so bad that about 5 years ago a group of senior members left and started up this one which is much better. It was invitation only in the early days but I think these days anyone can register.

I'm worried about Watford first.

We've been pretty rubbish at home lately, won't take much for the fans to get on our backs if it's not going well.

At the moment this team would probably play better away without the pressure.

Given Walcott just grabbed two maybe now is the time to give him a run of games? Just please not at striker any more, just be a goal scoring winger & accept your fate.
