I always get nervous with Westham, experienced pain too many times, especially at their ground at night for some reason.

Almost tempted to try and shut it out and just look up the score at 11am...

I don't think they're the same threat they were at Upton Park.

Three for me, and two for them.

Jack, Xhaka

Iwobi Ozil Sanchez

Giroud.

team for WH is:

                       Cech,

Bellerin, Koscielny, Monreal, Maitland-Niles,

           Iwobi, Xhaka, Wilshere,

                  Ozil, Alexis,

                     Giroud

interesting to see how jack and iwobi go in the midfield.

Can't see us playing Christmas Tree

That said Vaelo and I didn't want 4-2-3-1 with GX and JW

Iwobi next to ozil and Alexis would more make sense, but that does leave us a little exposed with Xhaka and JW.

what ever their setup, i just hope a)we win, b)we play well...

You can't win anything with 'defending' like that.

Losing serious ground now - Loss and two Draws in our last 3.

Gotta get this sh*t back on track asap.

Hard to play when they park 11 men behind the ball, but we also just played far too slow in transition and all we wanted to do was cross to giroud, which WH figured out and then marked him accordingly. We had no plan b.

Also after seeing that, Im more convinced that we need to loan iwobi for a season and bring some one else in that can do a better job in the short term. And that we need to start looking for a new #1 keeper for the start of next season. Cech isnt maintaining a level we need to him to.

good to see jack in the team, i forget that he is 25 some times. He looked very good on the ball and has a place in that formation.

if we go 4 at the back

Then bench GX and pair Elneny with Jack.

Serious lift required

Jack one of the few bright spots this morning. Sanchez is horrifically out of form, park him on the bench and if he doesn't like it I'd take 20 million for him in Jan rather than nothing in June. The only thing is we wouldn't find anyone with quality in Jan, so we'd have to keep our hands off the 4th place trophy for another year.

The NLD game feels like years ago now. For me it highlighted the potential of this team, what a new manager could do week-in week-out, if only it was so obvious to those working on the inside of the club too.

Will be interesting to see the rotation for Liverpool. Monreal, Kosc, Bellerin, GX, Ozil, Sanchez all played 90 minutes x 2 in 4 days, surely they can't be up for it again on Saturday.

Let's just beat Newcastle first.

Didn't watch the game in the end. Recorded to watch after work but ended up seeing the result by accident - forgot I was avoiding something and went on Facebook, not the first time I've done that. Doesn't sound like I missed an awful lot though.

what a lovely volley by ozil. but really we should have had soo many more.

credit to newcastle though, the threw their bodies into everything and blocked a lot of shots.

Liked what we saw from sanchez this morning, i havent got the sens that he has had his head in the game for most of this season, but today he was putting himself about, closing down, making runs. Hope this level of effort continues and he adds the final product to it.

3 points was great in the weekend, jack looked solid again. Ozil has been really great last few games

Must say i was expecting Xhaka to be a lot better now, i like his passing game but his tackling and errors do scare me

xhaka would be my most disappointing player of the season so far... if it wasn't for sanchez's performances.

I get the strong impression Xhaka is becoming this seasons scapegoat. Could he be better? Yes, but he's also regularly exposed as the last midfielder which doesn't appear to be his game. He's a deeper lying playmaker, someone to keep things ticking over and defend a little but he's not an enforcer/play breaker like Coquelin - which is what we need more of next to Ramsey in the 3-4-3.

He can't be blamed for the fact that in front of him Sanchez is woefully out of form, or that behind him Koscielny, Monreal, and Mustafi have all had brain farts leading to goals.

Permalink Permalink

To be fair he's having his fair share of brain farts. Some of his giveaways have been very bad, under little pressure with multiple passing options...
