Has to work today, so master plan was to come in early and watch the game while doing / pretending to work. Get to work - systems all down. So I have seen the result - but how was it? Sounded like Reid had a hard time?

Great game, great result.

Shoulda killed it off on one of the breakaway chances but their gk was amazing.

Hard to think of many who had a bad game, westham were a team in form and you could tell, home crowd behind them, was a tough one, super happy to come away with that.

Yeah really good game and great win at a tough away ground against an in form side. What a difference Koscielny makes for Mertesacker. Should do its the world of good rip have held out a last 10 minute onslaught twice in 3 days.

Yep i'm very pleased we've come through the first two fixtures of this xmas/new year log jam with maximum points. Regardless of how they have been obtained, the points are what matter.

Three for me, and two for them.

Looking at the table and fixtures I wouldn't be surprised if we're in 4th 6 days from now.

I was blimmin close, only 5th on goal diff to soton and they got an unexpected point against chelsea this morning.

Everyone in the top 6 bar us dropped points.

Huge game at St Marys friday morning.

Walcott has been back for a couple now, Kosc was back this morning. Arteta, Ozil and Ramsey could all be in contention next time out, but probably not for starting berths. Likely that Rosicky will come back in after being rested. Perhaps a game to give Poldi a start in and a rest for Sanchez or the Ox?

Soton is another 6 pointer, surely we'd be wanting to see Ox/Sanchez start again, they were absolutely immense.

One more game, a few early goals, and early subs for both of them.

Also how solid did Coquellin look? Song didn't have the best of games but from the out set I realised how much we've missed that strength of the middle of the park. He would have been such a good buy back for us, especially with his ability to cover at CB.

Despite Reid not having a great game against the pace on the counter I'd still have him in that Arsenal squad. Reid & Carvalho, $40m for both, thanks for coming.

Coq is good, Ox is better, Alexis something else again.

Yes best XI v Sothampton please.

I thought Song showed exactly why we wouldn't touch him again to be honest. Commentator mentioned him being wasteful in possession and over elaborating and I thought "noone knows that better than us!"

Regarding Song he had a Sam allardyce forward pack & midfield set up in front of him, a group of men designed to head balls in from set pieces not receive, pass, and offer.

Great, surprising results over the last 2 games given the Festive period often brings a lot of draws. A big game now against Soton in two days time. I've been reading Podolski and Sanogo out on loan, hopefully we bring one or two in. From a Gooners perspective, I would still be disappointed if we brought Reid in as our third CB.

Could be worse when it comes to transfers though and get banned for a whole year like Barce, a bit of Karma for them finally.

Just seen the goals. Absolute pub league defending.

Three for me, and two for them.

Not a lot to say but that we were pants. We've constructed our own defeat in some atrocious defending, while up front we couldn't beat Forster when we did create a chance, while severely missing Giroud & Welbeck for layoff play, Welbeck is unfortunate with the injury, but Giroud is just daft! With Chelsea getting smashed we've missed a chance to make up ground at the top, and securing 4th spot. Instead we're now 6th behind bloody Sp*rs. Wenger has to spend some money.

Never seen Koscielny play so poorly.

oh what was that?

i think the most upsetting thing for me at the moment, is that we have seen this performance before this season. Our team hasnt developed, we havent improved individually, tactically or as a team.

I have an amazing ability to find my way out of mazes. I'm pathological.

Just a shark result...wozza was shark , defence was average as.Can only hope that today's performance forces us to buy some quality now.

How many seasons can Wozza keep having brain explosions and it be put down to being young?

Permalink Permalink

Not sure he was solely to blame for the goals. Regardless, very poor performance and result

Podolski and Sanogo both out on loan? Really? this mean we are buying a new forward?

As the commentator kept saying, shambolic and not the standard you should see in the premiership. Who is going to be the January panic buy then?

Pictures emerging of Podolski in Milan, surely that's that done. As Foal said, with Sanogo on loan possibly too, this has to mean a forward is coming in? SURELY?

On Sanogo, would really like him to go somewhere in England, rather than a loan in France.

Have you got a link for that page? Can't find that page. My mate started an Arsenal NZ page that he has done absolutely nothing with. But then there's that other FB page from Christchurch which is quite popular.

it's called Arsenal NewZealand and it has about 4000 odd likes I think it's the one based in Christchurch

I don't think any in charge from the official NZ Arsenal supporters group looks/posts here.

Sad to see Podolski go at a time we have no available strikers. Has there been a more mismanaged player under Wenger?

Permalink Permalink
Podolski was a better version of Arshavin, but not utilised all the same. Hopefully Inter play a way that fits him. He is a 100,000 salary off the bill too, hopefully those funds are reinvested, but not at the expense of a DMF & CB. Who would you want to replace him? Id enjoy El Shaaraway or Jackson Martinez from Porto
Permalink Permalink

Arshavin was way ahead of Podolski. AA, Hleb, Reyes all could and should have "done better".

My assumption is a 'big' striker is on the way in. Cavani maybe. Othwerwise the loan outs seem incompatible with the current squad.

Yeah, we'll get Cavani and 16 year old French DMF who can also play CB!! Haha :)

If it's a young French DMF then I'd suggest Rabiot could be your man. For all intents and purposes though Carvalho has sounded like he was having his price reduced to 25m which is more palatable.

Calvalho sounds good, wonder whether that would happen considering we've been linked two him for 3 r 4 transfer windows now.

Also whatever money is there is likely to be ear marked for the CB, although both DM and CB are needed CB is the gun to Wenger's head because the lack of addition in the off season.

Still has puzzled me we didn't add someone from the free market a few months back on a short term contract if we refused to buy/loan someone in the summer window.

To be fair, the reasoning will be why should a player who never played be replaced? Welcome to the bench to Akpom?
