Jeepers have times changed - just 7 points separating the top 6 that year.

And you'll never get a champion losing 11 matches and winning the league now... oh for the old days - I can't imagine how exciting the prem would be if it was so tight now. How awesome would it be if the entire top 6 were still in with a shot of winning it...

Thank god we have a win finally. I got used to seeing us lose lately, I had almost given up...

Just thought i'd pop in here and say well done to Wolves for earning promotion again and also to Reading who i believe sealed a playoff berth today. Good luck in the playoffs.

Three for me, and two for them.

are those $1899 tickets still available TurfMoore, if so I'd consider getting one for Burnely's visit to Wembley?

Currently at $2099, which is still hellishly reasonable. Very tempting. Maybe there's a chance after I've had a few on Friday night and I'll be less analytical about it all.

My sober thinking is that in the current economic climate, last minute deals might be favourable. Not really that keen on shelling out a couple of grand to watch Cardiff and Sheff Utd battle it out.

Luton from there to non league.

I feel really sorry for Luton, considering Leicester and West Ham (allegedly) got away with blue murder for infringements of league rules.

And Leeds, the season before. Yes Luton have been well shafted by the FA and not one of the culprits whom did this, have been at the club this season. They left at the end opf last season, yet the club and fans paid the price!

A magnanimous gesture, LG. But, you may be better off spending the winnings on buying back QPR from the nutters who run it right now.

Surprised there isn't any banter on here this morn...

Turfmoore it's squeaky bum time for you indeed! After the draw with southampton over night, a win is probably required against an out of form Bristol City and you're in the playoffs... I fancy your chances there.

Also fancy Sheffield U to pip Birmingham for that automatic spot on the final day. Birmingham seem to be struggling as of late and have a decent reading side in their last match, while in form Sheffield should win against Crystal Palace.

Interesting times... i also see keane's new troops dispatched cardiff with ease... could it be Ipswich T in the prem come the 2010/11 season?

No banter. Bum's all squeaked out!
Not that chuffed by Preston's last minute effort against Brum. Our fault though, we played jobbies by all accounts.
Reading could still squeak in automatically (bad news for Norwich that) with a couple of wins and a Sheffield Utd slip up. So what looked like a 'going through the motions' last day next weekend, now has everything to play for.

Except for Wolves, of course!

Even if you can continue your penchant for 0-0 draws, we will be well chuffed.

QPR must surely have had more 0-0s this season than anyone else, or am I just imagining it?

Edit: Note, we have Bristol, not Swansea in final match.Turfmoore2009-04-26 20:05:48

That's blank sheet number 19 for Cerny and he's in line for the divisional goalkeeping award this season.

They get the "Shotgun" Award or transferred to Forest for being our top scorer. Lonegunmen2009-04-27 17:35:31

I'm fracking stoked that Forest managed to survive their climb back into the Championship this season.  With a final run of draws and wins we are out of relegation contention with one game to spare - so onward and upward next season :D

So who is going down, Barnsley or Norwich?

Barnsley sitting on 49pts (GD-14)
Norwich in the relegation zone on 46pts (GD-11)

Plymouth vs Barnsley
Charlton vs Norwich

I have a feeling it'll be a day for black humour at Charlton with both sides singing about going down by the 70 minute mark. I can see it being a dull 0-0 draw or the Addicks will throw away yet another 2 goal lead in the dying moments for it to end 2 -all.

Barnsley are also likely to draw at Plymouth, but I think they may even roll them. It'll be an interesting finish.

Half an hour in, Charlton 3 up over the budgies and Barnsley drawing...oh, and we lead Coventry 2-0 at home.

Not sure that could go ANY better for me.

Bring on Burnley... should be a good game! We might as well forfeit the game at the Madejski as we havent won at home since January!!
04 May 07:23 · edited 09 Sep 05:22
And bring on Reading!

Fair to say that most Clarets regard Reading as the best team faced all season. Not sure what happened to the Royals in the 2nd half of the season. Two good footballing sides, so should be a good match-up.
Longball battle on the other side of the draw.

Surprised nobody has mentioned Cardiff

The Bluebirds had an equal GD with Preston but missing out on the playoffs by a single goal scored.

Two weeks ago Preston slaughtered Cardiff 6-0 at Deepdale and if that wasnt bad enough Cardiff had a penalty saved in that game too. How they must look back on that and wonder

You make a good point cam-bwfc re Cardiff. Not just the the "if only" about 1 extra goal or anything less than 6-0, but how on earth did they not make the playoffs from this position???

Preston 8 points behind, 3 games to play (Cardiff have 4) and with a goal difference 18 inferior!

It happens in football.

Hahaha We helped Cardiff miss out, payback for that rigged playoff final when a Cardiff associate of the then chairman set off the fire alarm at the hotel where QPR were staying at 3am on the match day.

And for some awesome photos of Cardiff over the last few matchhes click here. HN you will enjoy the ones of Ipswich at Cardiff!!

Well, we have to eat our words. Truly awful match (even in Chinese) and Burnley pinched it 1-0, more through Mr Bikey's indiscretions than anything we managed to conjure up. Hopefully a better spectacle in the return.

10 May 11:01 · edited 09 Sep 05:22
Bikey did that in his trial match 2 years ago as well. Nobody even expected him to get a contract. He may have cost us a lot of money and listening to Coppel's disjust at his actionsl - I doubt that he has a future at the club.
