made me remember a classic miss from Roger Davies (think the name is right - big tall lad) missing from inside the six yard box for Derby in the early 70's

Yeah, I remember that Roger Davies miss, he'd beaten the 'keeper and then stumbled and the ball ran out of play. Sadly, it's not on YouTube yet.
Of the ones offered here by LG, the only one not so cringeworthy is Kieran Dyer's. The perennially injured plonker can be forgiven for this miss as the angle is acute and he has to (try to) take the chance quickly. All the others are idiots.

I want to know how someone can put the ball over the crossbar from less than 3 feet from the goal??
