NOt that I ever get to see the games (No Sky), but I was under the impression that the Defoe Keano pairing wa just too light weight. It's so long since I can remember THFC having a genuine aerial threat (bizarre, given that we've had some many fine deliverers of the ball)that I'm quite looking forward to seeing Crouch reek some unco-ordinated havoc

Ditto re Sky and also the accounts that Defoe and Keano didn't seem to click (and at then there was the Keano Berbatov combo).

Crouch...havoc...robot dance...my god what a season we have in front of us!

Well done!  I am both pleased for you and envious as h#ll.

Being the Luddite that I am I have only just discovered google earth (not maps - I knew about that for a while) and zoomed into the 3-D WHL.

...Gawd I wish I was there!

YUSSSSSSS!!!!! 2-1.

Thanks Liverpool.

Well played, lads. We were awful (other than Yossi, who should have started!) but you thoroughly deserved to win. Mind you, you were lucky that the foul on Voronin wasn't awarded as it clearly was a penalty. And lucky that Bassong was allowed to play!!

Yeeeehaaaaa! What a weekend.

A win for the Fabulous Turtles FC,Nix and Spurs makes it theperfect trifecta
16 Aug 20:03 · edited 09 Sep 05:18
Absolutely stoked with that, Palacios was immense. Felt a bit for Robbie today, 2 of those shots were dead set on target but Reina kept Pool in the game for most of it today. What a screamer from Benny to kick off the season, more of this against Hull please lads. Bit of a change for Liverpool not being able to score in the last 5 mins. That was dodgy at the end there with the challenge on Voronin, but Pool did not deserve a draw today.

Pool fans: What was with Torres today? Looked like he didn't know he had 10 team mates, some of his touches made me think we had sold Bent to Liverpool.

London 8 Merseyside 2.

Nuff said. Well done Spurs.

Three for me, and two for them.

A win over the gooners worth double that over any of the Merseyside teams

Great win for the opening game.  We're doing so much better than this time last season!

Sympathies to the Toffees, hopefully we'll make it up for them later!

My weekend just got better (almost the perfect weekend).  The world can stop right now and I'd be happy.

Liverpool 5 London 0!!!

But seriously, I don't know what was wrong with Torres. Probably because he's just had a baby girl! That was a clear penalty, but I don't think we can complain much. Yossi should have started ahead of Babel and we should have actually attacked a bit. Reina was superb, mind.

cockerals up against the tigers tomorrow morning NZT.  Not sure how this one will go.  never really followed Hull last season but they did look handy for quite a while (coinciding with us looking decidedly unhandy).

It will be a walk over the newies. We beat them in China preseason tour quite convincingly. I would be disappointed if we lose to a new EPL team so early in a season.AllWhitebelievr2009-08-20 01:19:16

5-crikey-1  and Palacios and keano on the scoresheet too.

"Glory, glory Tottenham Hotspur..."

Article says it's Spurs' best start to the season for 14 years.  We are top of the table ahead of Chelski by more goals scored.  Getting giddy from these lofty heights!

Lots of footy to come and managers to go over the season.  BUT you've got to be happy with a perfek start.

Watched the delayed coverage at 11am. Cracking start for us - Keano and JD up front and hitting on the counter with pace. Hull had some decent pressure in the second quarter but JD goal before the break was important.
JD could've had his hat-trick about twice over but finally took it with a rocket. Keano played a little withdrawn and played some great balls.
Their goal was a bit soft and we came under a bit of pressure at the back at times, but considering we have a makeshift back four - I'm happy enough. Tough trip to Boelyn Sunday.

Top of the league at the moment and loving it

I saw a big Spurs scarf in the back of a car on Monday or Tuesday afternoon on Churchilll Drive (looked like a kids game) - belong to any of you boys?

Not me, but there's an Junior Onslow Coach who is a true believer.

I've got my Holsten shirt, my kids have got the Thompson shirts (but grown out of one) and the scarves - but they don't get to wear them much (the scarves).

There was a splash of Green and Red around, so quite possibly him.

My Holsten shirt has so many kebab stains on it, it is not fit for public outings.Problem is, I hate the current sponsor's logo.HarryHotspur2009-08-20 23:45:35

Cracking performance yesterday. Papers here in UK are already making a bit of a premature ejac over it all. Am stoked that JD got 3. He's Yidddo!!! Crouch looked ineffectual again, for his 10 mintues on the pitch.. I rate Paly over Crouch.

Biggest news had to be Burnley's win over the Mank. . .

Need max points from our next 2 games aswel, before we have to play the Mancs and Chelsea back to back. The midfield combo between Huddlestone and Palacios is simply awesome. Defoe played his part and could have had several more goals. Hull fans should be very worried, they were holding off Defoethe entire match and letting him run riot. Crouch could have scored too but his header was straight at the keeper. Hopefully Pav gets a run in the next couple of games.
I keep reading that Villa are keen to get Jenas and Bentley, I'm not sold on either, but I doubt we can attract better replacements so would rather keep them at this stage. Also rumoured to be linked with Chris Samba from Blackburn, would be a decent addition but with King,Dawson, Bassong, Woodgate, and with Corluka as cover do we really want another CB? We would need to find cover for left mid/left back (Currently Bale, but he never gets a look in coz of his curse) centre mid (especially if Jenas leaves) and right mid (If Bentley leaves) Huddlestone2009-08-21 16:39:03

I reckon (seriously) half the premiership if not more has a Gambling theme, either a bookies or online gamling/poker etc...

Next time you watch a game have a look at the sponsors...

Looked further down to the 1991 FA Cup semi-final DVD:

"Tottenham Hotspur vs Arsenal 1991 FA Cup Semi-Final DVD The first ever semi-final to take place at the twin towers was a day that all Tottenham fans will never forget. Spurs not only went on to win their 8th FA Cup, but also denied their North London rivals, Arsenal a chance of the double in the process. The talismanic Paul Gascoigne virtually carried the team into the final that year with some incredible performances, as the cup run became a welcome distraction in a year where massive debts meant that the club's very existence was in doubt. The Gunners under George Graham were hot favourites going into the tie, in a season where they only lost once in the league as they went on to win the first division title. But on a scorching day in April, Terry Venables gambled on a half fit "Gazza" and the Spurs manager was rewarded, when the mercurial midfielder scored one of the finest goals ever to grace the Wembley turf. Gascoinge's stupendous 30 yard free kick will be forever etched on every single Spurs fan's memory for as long as they live and it will go down as one of the finest FA Cup moment's in the history of the competition. Gary Lineker then doubled the advantage before Alan Smith got one back before half time, but in the second half Lineker's second goal of the game ensured that the bragging rights would remain with the White Hart Lane faithful, in a quite extraordinary and momentous occasion that will never be forgotten. The scenes of jubilation as the final whistle was blown are something to behold on a historic day for Tottenham, and now you can relive all of those magic moments time and time again."
