Surprised I haven't seen any advertising for this new service on Sky yet, you'd think they'd be hammering out ads with the season being so close to starting.

I miss the days of La Liga on ESPN along with the Champions League, I seem to remember them showing some Serie A matches as well or I may be mistaken.

Also, the bastards have a bit of gall to increase the cost of basic, does the price increase accompany an increase in the amount of product on offer? Nope. Unless you count Bravo, which they had to axe Four for anyway.

ESPN definitely used to show Serie A here as well, maybe Eredivisie too?

Relatively easy sign up for me.  I get Sky via Vodafone so had to ring them and half expected them to know nothing about it and it was sweet as.  They did say I could turn on the tv and see the channels and obviously I can't do that however all good.

My only issue is I have a mate who I talked into getting Sky and Voda together and he has Vodafone TV box instead of Sky box. Pretty sure I saw on their FB page it won't work on that however on the phone they said it was fine. Anyone else know the answer? I have posted it just haven't got a reply as yet.

Since the only channels you cannot get via Vodafone TV are basically porn, and for a while you used to get more channels than sky basic, I'm not seeing how it would be a problem. How would it be any different to getting them to add Soho, Rialto or Rugby channel to your subscription? you can even piss your money away on stupid arena events like any other gullible sky subscriber.

Heh I'm omniscient. This is from a 2009 thread suggesting sky should purchase all the rights all the football leagues and make a new channel -BeiN has since bought out Setanta's Australian channel

never ever happen. each and every one of those competitions sell its broadcasting rights regionally, and the cost would be prohibitive even if the charged $50 a month and everyone in NZ subscribed. They get serie A, La liga, and UEFA CL & UEFA Cup, + MLS coverage via ESPN at $0 extra cost. Sky only pays for EPL & A league coverage. the demand for other leagues wouldn't justify the cost. Plus advertising revenue would be limited as most of the live coverage would be in the middle of the night and attracts limited interest to advertisers as it has become more common for games to be digitally recorded and advertising skipped.

Our best bet is to pick up another sports channel similar to ESPN that covers most of this content. The most obvious options being Setanta, Fox sports, or Fox soccer channel (US).

This topic has been covered numerous times before. have a search for TV coverage for more info.

as mentioned in another thread ESPN have lost the TV rights to the UEFA competitions for next season in north America, how this will affect us is unsure as Sky are looking into other options for broadcast rights.

In the early Sky days they showed Dutch, Scottish, Spanish, Italian and South American football. Mostly on ESPN. It was damn good.

Bein is actually now transmitting on the satellite. Currently playing Chelsea TV Wigan v Chelsea from last year on Bein 1 and Chelsea v Porto champions league on Bein 2.

Waiting to see if live Scottish league comes on at 11:30pm. Rangers v Hamilton is listed in the Aus Bein guide.

Don't think this is available on the Skybox until Tuesday though.

No luck with the live football. Looks like they are just playing test programs.

Vodafone have confirmed that I'll be able to get the Bein channels via my old TBox, which should allay the fears of anyone else in the same situation.  They have signed me up and said I should see the channels in the TBox guide within 24 hours.

I just contacted BeIN Sports on Facebook. Apparently there won't be a way to access the Premier League online before the first round, so we will have to wait for BeIN Connect. So you won't be able to watch the Premier League away from the Sky Box at least for the first week, though it is coming soon.

Signed up last week and as yet nothing shows on my Sky TV "Planner". I have a MYSKY box and am with Vodafone. I replaced SOHO with the BEIN football. Soho has gone but as yet no sign of any football. That's sky I guess. Day before the Football Ferns were to play Columbia Live on Sky, they proclaimed there was no football sceduled in the near future.......WHAT the shark is going on with Sky!!

Was watching the Olympics last night and for the first time and ad for this appeared. Said "call us or jump online to subscribe" so went to the Bein page and it still says you have to call. I'll call on about Thursday or Friday and hopefully by then the people who answer the phone will have heard of it and know what to do. I'm away over the weekend and back on Sunday night and Arsenal are playing Monday morning so I don't need it working until then anyway.

Slightly off topic but some credit to Sky for fixing our issue pretty quickly yesterday. The MySky started freezing repeatedly over the weekend and had become pretty unusable so called them on Sunday and they gave me some settings to change to try out and it was ok that night but then yesterday morning unusable again so called back and someone came around yesterday and replaced the decoder. Thought we'd end up having to wait days to get someone and miss half the Olympics so thumbs up to them there. Same box we'd been using for over 4 years so I suppose it's not unreasonable for hardware to start breaking down after that long.

Pretty sure when I called up to sign up to BeIN, they told me the football channels would be available from today on the decoder. Guess not.

That's what I was told when I phoned up yesterday, but I can't see anything either.

Did a full scan on my Freeview Satellite box and spotted the BeIN channels yesterday - the EPG said that BeIN1 was showing an EPL preview show and BeIN2 had QPR v Leeds (I think that was it), but nothing accessible on 266-270 on my Sky box.

Same thing happened to me, and sky were great.  The only issue was that I had the Bahrain game saved on the box which is now gone :'(

they're up and running now.  Valencia v Real Sociedad about to start on BeIN2.  Not too sure about the quality of the Sky EPG yet though, as it claims the Super Cup is going to be Live at 8.15 on Wednesday night.

Well after blustering about finally getting off Sky, typical Vodafone swoop in with a deal to keep me hanging on...

Upgrading our internet to fibre unlimited (currently ADSL 80gb), at no extra charge, and gave me free sky sport for a year (on a 1 yr contract so for entire term of contract).

I added the Bein channels and it still came in drastically under what I'm currently paying. The deal basically eliminated the gains I was going to get if I left and went down the netflix/lightbox/beinconnect path instead, and the missus is happy that she's not losing her recorded library...

MySky or the Vodafone box? Could be worth looking into this deal. Like your missus we had been hesitant to change decoders and lose the recorded library, but that's all gone now anyway with the decoder needing to be replaced.

We have a MySky box. We've had a vodafone door-knocker offering us all sorts of stuff to switch to a Vodafone box but we've resisted. This guy on the phone reckoned no probs, we don't have to change, but can still change our deal.

I rang them initially because I got this in the mailbox, and wanted to know what else they could offer;

Interesting, thanks. I had been under the impression they wouldn't offer Fibre in their cable areas as they want to push that. Hoping to get Fibre but been unsure who to go with so if they will let us have it with a deal like that it would make it easier than changing providers.

Also forgot to mention from my calls to Sky re our decoder dying, both times they gave me the spiel about Sky Go. "In the mean time if it's not working you can use our online Sky Go service to watch some channels live......" I just nodded and said "yeah I know about it." Wasn't worth the energy to tell them there was no possibility of it actually working if I wanted to use it.

Oh yea, I'm not actually getting Fibre - it's some Vodafone cable, HFC or something.

I was happy to take it for that price considering I'm currently on about 3mbps ADSL... apparently HFC will be 30 - 40 times faster...

How the fudge is that $20 cheaper per month than I'm currently paying for unlimited cable internet through Vodafone, without any TV add on or anything?

Grrrr

Can now see the Bein channels on my Tbox.  Currently watching classic Spurs vs Everton on 266.  Have set the Tbox up to record the match day programme on Sunday morning our time, which, the guide tells me, includes this season's Spurs v Everton at 2am.  Happy.
