I think I'd be a real problem if they started selling these key players now.... it really would time for the Championship! :)

Well the hope is that new owners come in and ease the pressure to sell and perhaps even give GZ funds to spend before the January transfer window closes. That needs to happen soon though. January and February is makle or break for us. We've got a run of 'easy' games before a fairly tough couple of months.

West Ham appear to have beaten Tottenham to the signature of Barcelona star Eidur Gudjohnsen.

Tottenham have shown an interest in bringing in Gudjohnsen on loan for the rest of the season, but Spurs boss Harry Redknapp believes West Ham have beaten them to the former Barcelona and Chelsea forward's signature.

Redknapp expects Gudjohnsen to join West Ham but confirmed they had made an inquiry about taking him on loan for the rest of the season, with his parent club Monaco paying the bulk of the wages.

"I spoke to his agent, he said he was going to West Ham, so I left it with the agent," Redknapp said after the Barclays Premier League win over Fulham.

"I would take him on a loan. He would be good loan signing playing in different systems.

"He's a good footballer and an interesting player on a loan but I think he's gone to West Ham."

Gudjohnsen was believed to have undergone a medical at Upton Park on Tuesday evening with a a deal likely.

I have to admit I'll be pretty chuffed if this goes ahead. I think a strike partnership of Cole and Gudjohnsen could really work. He's a similar type of player to Dean Ashton (dare I say it??).

Apologies for long term absence,  but for some reason I am struggling to get enthused about the day to day happenings at Upton Park.
I honestly think that there has been too much emphasis put on our debt, old owners, new owners, court cases going back to Tevez and not enough on the fact that although we have a reasonable squad and, in West Ham terms, a lower than usual injury list, we are not getting results.  Is Zola being over protected.
Dont get me wrong. I still look forward to the weekend and the games but the passion isnt quite right at them moment, (Unless some Northern Monkey starts to rubbish us, then it's full on)
Or perhaps it is that I have been distracted by the great season that is unravelling in NZ both at Club and International level.

Welcome back uiron. I know what you mean about the off field distractions. One of the great thing about us Hammers fans has always been that we will always carry on singing in the stands no matter what. I have sensed a change in that this year for some reason.

Hopefully now we're are a bit further up the ladder and have less injuries we'll hear a lot more Bubbles.

Btw - What do you think of Ilan? That first goal he scored wasn't bad. Looks like he could turn out to be a good find.

On teletext.  Seems your bosses are considering Glen Hoddle to replace Zola.

I guess they figure they'll be getting 2 for 1 with Eileen Drewery thrown infor free.

Great player but should have left it at that.

West Ham United have clinched a deal for Mexico international striker Pablo Barrera, according to his club UNAM Pumas.

Barrera impressed when coming off the bench for the Mexicans as they made it to the last 16 of the World Cup and a host of clubs including the Hammers, Espanyol, Celtic and Everton have all been linked with a move.

However West Ham have won the race to sign him for an undisclosed fee thought to be in the region of 4million, according to Pumas President Victor Mahbub.

"We have just finished the negotiations for transferring Pablo Barrera to West Ham. We and the player are satisfied with the arrangement that we have done with West Ham," Mahbub told Mediotiempo.

"Barrera will be signing a four-year contract, then in two or three years be transferred to another team.

"We got to a satisfactory agreement for both parts and I want to make clear that there wasn't any agent involved in the negotiations, everything was done from one club to the other and for respecting both teams we have arranged the transfer."

WTF!!?? First theres rumours that we'll sign some Brazilian 'starlet' named Silva but with a clause that Chelsea will buy him off us next season, and now we're signing this guy wo is guaranteed to be bought in 3-4 years.  I know we're a selling club but its a bit f**king rich to sell before we've even bought. I'd rather we kept academy players who cost less but want to play for the Hammer.  Whats Gollivan's plan about European football? By the time we get there our best players will be gone.

Upson - old and over-rated
Tomkins - will be good, but needs time
Spector - our leading goalscorer all season. Too bad they were all put in our net.
Ben Haim - Decent but hasn't played regularly in years.

Reid is a great signing, a bit of pace in the backline will be a welcome change, especially if Faubert stays on the right of midfield.

Am liking our signings so far, mostly the pairing of Parker and Hitzlesperger. Tougher than a pair of coffin nails.

Cmon UWINSTON.

When it comes to opposition for centreback, dont forget da costa.

We havent really had a rightback for a while. Faubert has filled in.
Loved Repka but sometimes his marking was as bad as his English.
Perhaps this is part of Grant's long term strategy.

Starting to shape up as a good squad and I am looking forward to seeing Collison back.

Does it worry anyone that the Owners said three months ago that everyone except Parker was for sale but no one has come and bought any of them???

Ha ha - good point uiron. Must be a sign of how sh*t we were last season. Although Stoke are keen on Cole for some reason. Hopefully Reid and then the Ajax guy will be done and dusted in a couple days. Agree completely - squad shaping up nicely.

Bring on the new season!!!

Personally I reckon the home kit is the one of their best. If you don;t like the polo thouhg then get the away strip - has a round neck. Plus its white so Winstons autograph will show up better.

Yeah just looked at that, it's pretty nice actually. Strange that the home and away kits have different styled collars?

I'm still waiting on an All White shirt with Reid on the back from uksoccershop that I ordered well before the world cup, so doubt I'll be buying another one from them any time soon.

So Winston rumoured rumoured to be starting at RB ahead of Faubert and Behrami (1st - I dont remember Bebrami ever playing RB and 2nd - he's injured anyhow).

But if Winston does get a start so soon (ahead of Faubert, Tomkins, Dyer and Spector) I would be surprised. Nice to see him get the number 2 shirt - thats a real vote of confidence by Grant.

Good luck, expect he's going to be in for a hard time against Ashley Young.
