Who's going down with Derby?

Seven games to go for each of the Premiership sides....still quite tight at the bottom for the two relegation places to join Derby...

Fulham - 23
Bolton - 26
Birmingham - 27
Sunderland - 30
Reading - 31
Wigan - 31

Fulham look in big trouble, although they still have to play Sunderland and Birmingham (both at home) and Reading away - the chance to pick up points at the expense of others in the bottom 6.

Bolton have a tough run-in, including games against Arsenal (h) and Chelsea, Spurs and Villa (all away).  The only one of the other relegation-threatened teams they face are Sunderland at home.

Birmingham have to play both Everton and Liverpool at home, as well as Wigan and Fulham (both away) in the archetypal "six-pointers".

Sunderland have to travel to both Fulham and Bolton and host Arsenal on the last day.

Reading have perhaps the "easiest" run-in, including games against teams with nothing much to play for - Blackburn, Newcastle and Derby.

Wigan - tough run-in including Chelsea, Man Utd, Spurs, Villa and Portsmouth - not too many easy points there.

Could go right to the last day....

How come you didn't include Newcastle? They can still go down. Just because they beat Fulham today don't mean they're out of trouble yet.

Three for me, and two for them.

Fulham and .....Wigan i think

any two out of fulham, wigan, bolton I'd guess (partly because of your analysis of the run-in LF1)

McLeish seems to have put a bit of resolve into Birmingham

I hope Sunderland stay up, mainly because Roy Keane is one of the more interesting personalities in the game

Fulham will. I'd like to see Newcastle go down but it will probably be Bolton.

Fulham will go down, the other will be a toss up, Birmingham have the hardest run in, but I agree they are playing alot better now, that midfielder Larsson is a good player.

Bolton are rubbish and have been all season, so I'll go for Fulham and Bolton.

I agree it would be funny to see the Geordies go down, it would trigger a mass excit of overrated players. But they've got enough strike power to keep them up I think.

McLeish is a decent manager who generally seems to make goods tactical calls, so I don't think Birmingham will go. Steve Bruce has always seemed to be a bit clueless when the going gets tough, so I'm picking Wigan to join Fulham and Derby.
Nix, Leyton Orient and Alloa Athletic supporting schmuck.

Fulham and Birmingham will go down, although I can see Bolton failing to pick up too many more points.

Am i right in saying that Mcfadden from Birmingham got injured? if so they will struggle to score so i will pick them to go down. One team always gets a run on Westham last year and portsmouth the year before. I hope this year it is fulham!

You stole our hoops sorry! - Reading's firlst kit was a navy and white hooped kit in 1872 - The pretenders only got theirs in1892 (green and white - the blue and white never appeared till 1927).
But dont be jealous!

And Coppell is steering us clear - he has found his true home after many years.

bolton better not go down they are awesome just need to get some decent players. I give them50-50 chance of going down if they beat sunderland tho i dont think they will go down that game is crucial. they have lost a few games they deserved to win, did anyone see the bolton vs portsmouth game those that did can understand why i'm still hurting over it.

if not bolton then birmingham and sunderland/wigan

I went to the Fulham vs Everton game a couple of weeks ago, and Fulham were deserving of the win - a couple more performances like that and they might make it (I didn't see anything of their game against noocastle, so I cannot comment on that).  Bolton will go, and it is anyone of a number to join them (although Fulham look the most likely).

By the way, I hope all of you podcast listeners go your money on Derby to come bottom at $1.47 when I mentioned it...............

Sunderland and Birmingham did themselves a favour today with wins.
Bolton threw away a golden chance to pick up three points - 2-0 up over Arsenal with 30 minutes to go - lost 3-2
Wigan lost 2-0
Fulham got a point but will consider it two dropped against Derby
Reading picked up a point against Blackburn

Still tight at the bottom with 6 games to go for most teams...

Derby - 11 - mathematically gone now
Fulham 24
Bolton 26
Birmingham 30
Wigan 31
Newcastle 32 (they play Spurs tomorrow)
Reading 32
Sunderland 33
Boro 34 (they play Chelsea tomorrow)

Fulham and Bolton really need to get a wriggle on if they're going to avoid the drop now.

i'm gutted aparently bolton deserved to win against a 10 man arsenal side 2-0 after 60 minutes but conceeded an unfortunate deflection from a fabregas miskick for an own goal in the 90th minute. I'm completely devestated.

has anyone seen the highlights to the game?

Highlights here

Yes, I've watched them several times.

Bolton all set for the Championship then?

If you throw away a 2 goal lead at home with half an hour to go and a man advantage, in no way do you deserve to win.

not if you conceed how they did was the last goal a bolton mistake or just real bad luck?

Well considering Bolton's second goal came off a severe deflection from Gallas' leg I don't think you can complain too much. Deflections are part of football, if you're taking shots, sometimes luck falls your way.

I love any team that can beat the Yids at White Hart Lane by 4-1. Great result Sir Les. Newcastle on a bit of a roll now. 2 wins in a row isn't it. I bet Kev will "bloody luv it" if they avoid the drop. Toon are pretty safe I think.

Who cares! Thats whats I think, Whichever teams are in trouble are in trouble becasue there not that great, and they deserve to go down. This is the one thing that Aresenal fans never understand, as  in my lifetime, we have never been in a relegation battle. Now you can say that im arrogant for saying that. But it is true. If pushed to say which teams should go down, well any team from the north, or outside London. Fulham should stay up, becasue there a London team, Bolton should go, aswell as the Geordies, Reading to stay up on the lastday.
