Yellow Fever EPL Picks 23/24

 

Bit slack getting this started as the season seems to have arrived in a hurry. 

 

Please respond here if you are in for this season, and what team you support. New entrants always welcome. 

 

Format will be the same as last season: 

Pick the winner and either a 1 goal margin, 2+ margin or a draw for the games played by team teams supported by participants.
5 points for correct winner, 8 points for correct winner + margin, 8 for picking a correct draw.
Pick one player for each match, 5 points awarded if your player gets MOM. 

MOM will be the one named on premierleague.com which is voted by the fans as it’s the easiest one to track. 

There will also be some pre-season picks (top 6, bottom 3, golden boot, golden glove and top scorer and assister for each supported team we pick). I also propose adding first manager to leave, unless there’s any objection. Deadline for these will be the end of the transfer window so you have a chance to see what final squads look like. 

  

Only other addition to last season is to specify that in the event of a tie, points won on pre-season picks will be the tiebreaker (in a similar way to goal difference). This has never been spelt out before as it was always thought to be unlikely but very nearly happened last season and would have done if I hadn’t edited one of my picks in the final round and left it as I originally posted. So setting out the tiebreaker up front this time just in case. If pre-season picks are also a tie, then we’ll go to the number of exact picks throughout the season (ie, the max 8 points).

As usual we’ll just pick the matches for teams supported by the participants. Feel free to enter if you don’t support a current PL team too.

No more Leeds this season, so assume we’re picking the usual 3 teams assuming the usual people enter. Additions for pre-season picks: first manager to leave, manager of the season.
I also propose: Player of the Season and Young Player of the season.
I also propose making manager of the season, player of the season and young player of the season 10 points (rest of the pre-season picks are 5) as they feel the hardest to pick, so should get higher reward.

Exceptional start from Detoxin picking both MOMs and only the Nott Forest goal prevented a perfect round with him having picked Arsenal 2+. Solid round also from last seasons winner Paul.
