Amusing incident at Dutchies press conference:

"Wait, wait, can I just ask one more question, I've just taken a five-and-a-half-hour train journey to get here?" - Sky Sports News reporter Gary Cotterril bursts into Dutch press conference just as it is ending.

"Edwin [van der Sar], do you think it would be a bad move for Cristiano Ronaldo to leave Manchester United?" - Sky Sports News reporter Gary Cotterril is allowed to ask his question.

"I'm only here to talk about the Dutch team. Sorry about your journey" - Van der Sar's response.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

The penalty was fair enough, Polish goal was offside.

Damn my bloody DVD HDD didnt record the Germany - Croatia game!!

I hear it was 2-1 to Croatia and there was a red card involved..

I've seen the goals on youtube but would like to know people's thoughts on the game ie was it a fair result of how the game went, and who got sent off and for what?

Schweinsteiger, but it was in the 90th minute so no real impact on the match.

You don't pull someone's shirt like that in front of the ref and expect to get away with it.

yet you are allowed to push someone twice and get a penalty from it?

Just had a look at it again to see where you're coming from, but can't see much of a push there. He did go down easily, but you put yourself at risk of giving away a penalty by tugging someone's shirt in front of the ref. From a neutral's point of view it was a penalty.

It was fairly fair. Germany's passing was woeful mostly (except for their goal) and Jens had a few calamities.

The red card was for a punch/shove thing. The German got tackled, turned round and gave the Croatian a shove/punch in the mouth. Right in front of the lino, and definitely a red. But the Germans had already lost by then.

So how many games off for a red card?

It looks like just one, though it may be extended.

Just finished watching the Croatia Germany game that i taped from this morning. Thought it was a pretty good match, was very impressed by Croatia. Could well throw the competition wide open.

Three for me, and two for them.

Well, Portugal v. Germany quarter-final is on the cards unless the Krauts blow it against Austria. Either way, one of the top four bookies' favourites will be going home before the semis.

the croat/germ result has certainly added a bit of interest to proceedings,

despite the 'fun' of austria scoring late,  it would have been even more interesting had poland won

i've been up at 4 every morning and getting to work at 9 - haven't missed a match yet - good tourney. Croats looked good v the Krauts - I love seeing them lose especially Jens and Ballack

I wonder if Schweinsteigers effort will be called violent conduct - if so that's 3 matches and him out til the final - if they make it that far!

Portugal will win. Wanna know why? Cos they rule. The end.
I like tautologies because I like them.

Good stuff

My mate's having drinks tonight, I've persuaded him to make sure it involves staying up late enough to watch Italy vs Romania, then perhaps off to the Backbencher for Clogs vs Frogs.

Don't the cards get wiped after the Quarters? Or is that just the yellow cards?

If you didn't get to see Turkey vs Czech R, avoid the radio, avoid the net and watch it later. You won't regret it.

Guess i'll hide what i have to say about it below then.

What a match. By far the match of the tournament so far. A true classic that must go down as the greatest comeback in European Championship history. Personally i would of loved penalties but after a match like that you can't be too picky can ya. Felt a bit sorry for Cech on that 2nd goal but hey nothing taken away from that amazing comeback, wouldn't be surprised to see the Turks go far now. Must by a kebab today for sure!!!

Three for me, and two for them.

Fantastic game, had absolutely everything. And I mean, everything.
Also, the outcome is the one I wanted, looking from Croatia's point of view.

I tuned in with 20 minutes to go, saw the 2 nil scoreline and thought "ah bugger it, I've missed all the action, now I get to see the Czechs put everyone behind the ball"....not even!

What a game!

Man, I want one of those jackets the Italians wore before the game today. They look so classy and stylish, just like me...

Just interested to know. What game so far is everyones cliched 'Game of the tournament'?
Do you like the Holland v Italy trouncing of great counter attacking football or the crowd pleaser game of Czech Republic v Turkey in a cliffhanger that went down to the wire and had excitement to the end?

I think the Czech v Turkey game is so far the game of the tournament

For the sheer drama, you can't beat the Czeachs and Turkey game.
I also thoroughly enjoyed Spain and Russia, that was attacking football at its best.

Czech v Turkey >>>>>>>>>>> Daylight >>>>>>>>>>>> Rest of the Tournament

Also enjoyed Hollands wins over both France and Italy, and thought Croatia v Germany was a good match.

Three for me, and two for them.

Turkey v Czech Rep. was a great spectacle, although the match didn't really come to life until the second half.

I really enjoyed Portugal v Czech Republic. Ronaldo's goal from the pass from Deco was class.

BTW I am very impressed with the Euro 2008 official home page. Very well presented and easy to navigate. Well done to the company responsible.

Netherlands/France and Turkey/Czech Rep. Two humdingers. Might get even better in the quarters. Great tournament so far. sadly, the final will probably finish 0-0 and onto penalties.
