TVNZ have better programs on their on demand channels than they do on their broadcast channels. Not just the football but decent programmes.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

UEFA TV is a free official website where you can see video highlights of pre-tournament friendlies etc. Will be a good place for highlights during the tournament too. Easy to sign up.

Hopefully the on demand replays are available fairly quickly after games finish - have asked TVNZ but not got an answer yet. ie, can I watch a 3am game (that finishes around 5am) at say 6am before work, or will it not be available for hours which often happens with Sky?
I try and watch almost all the games but tend to prefer to get up early enough to watch a game and a half before work (then another half at lunch time, and if a third game a bit later after work). Can't operate on no sleep these days especially when it's every day.

At least with sky (or at least sky sport now, don’t think it works with the box unless you record) you can just go to the guide and watch anything from the last 24 hours.

Not sure if that’s an option with TVNZ on demand

I have the Sky Pod so you can watch anything from the guide going back 3 days which is great.
Hoping the on demand replays on TVNZ will be available quickly.

Just got a reply from TVNZ that the replays will be available "immediately" so that's awesome. Will test it for the opening game tomorrow - probably keen to get up at more like 9 than 7 after a pretty tough week.
One thing I'd like (and this is for all streaming providers) is the ability to hide the duration of an on demand stream but that's probably a difficult thing to implement. For knockout games it can be a giveaway as to whether it went to extra time/penalties, or for tennis it can tell you whether there's another set etc

They could set them all at the exact same time (e.g 4 hours) and just fill empty time at the end of the game with "this stream has ended" or a similar message.

Is that practical? I don't know, i don't work in television.

Three for me, and two for them.

Either Scotland are trash or the Germans were very good today. They will be tough to beat on home soil playing like they did today.

Watched on demand and thought it was odd there was no half time or post match content.  Wondered if there live but the on demand stream ended immediately at full time. Sky would usually show the studio analysis.

Germany were decent but Scotland didn't have a single shot on goal. They were woeful. I thought they'd be a lot better given they topped a qualifying group with Spain in it but this morning was tragic.

The effect of increasing to 24 teams is that there are a few teams not really at the level so there will be more one sided non contest games. Although Scotland did come 2nd and qualify automatically in fairness but probably wouldn't have won a playoff against another 2nd place team under the previous system.

Good start for Spain. Croatia well past their best now you would feel.

Italy did enough after gifting Albania a goal inside 30 seconds. Don't see them being much use later on in the tournament.

Three for me, and two for them.

Germany, Spain and Italy all got off to a good start but it's too early to tell their real quality. Spain probably the most impressive so far but Croatia didn't do much. Will be a great tournament I reckon

I got that in Japan on my coverage here. Detracts from the atmosphere a bit. So often in the big moments what gets remembered is the commentary! It’s a focal point.

TV in general, news shows, game shows, magazine shows etc in Japan often have the concept further with several people watching along with you in a little corner of the screen helping you to react. Apparently stops a lot of anxiety.

Definitely not as good. They've got a matchday highlights show which is better but there seems to be a big delay in it being available. Only matchday 1 there at the moment, and matchday 3 about to kick off.

I don’t follow the English team, can someone explain why is Alexander-Arnold is in midfield? Seems very odd when he’s a better rb than Walker and looks lost in the middle compared to Rice and Bellingham. He also seems lost when it comes to taking up positions or looking for space in the middle.

I think it was his interception that set Walker away on goal?

Deeper attacking passes? How did Klopp use him?

I’d like to see Kane getting a few more touches here.

Decent first half from England. Deservedly ahead.

Saka, Rice, Walker and Bellingham all having good games so far. Bellingham really is a world class footballer.

Need to put the game to bed early second half.
